Thx. Not sure what will be next -- I still have my eye on a transparent dome for the Reichstag.

Just now I was surprised to discover that "Find It!" can see the sportpark sub-buildings!

    XOs7929.jpg

Why can it find them when it couldn't find the Park Inn sub-buildings? Is it because of the Airport Apron template? Or because of the "BuildingAI"?? Knowing this now, I should probably make the field a bit better... people might want to use it by itself in other places.

I think I've isolated the mod that is causing my LOD flickering issues (it's really unbearable): Adaptive Prop Visibility Distance. Is anybody else having these issues? Is there a problem with the model that I can change? It really looks like two overlapping textures... I just can't for the life of me figure out which textures they would be.

Could it be the LOD and the main model being displayed at the same time? I remember seeing that issue mentioned before and afaik it's something similar that's the issue with the blinking trees. No idea what's the cause though. :/

That's what it looks like! Thinking the same as you, I even tried moving the LOD model up a few CM, but it still flickers. Right now I've turned off the APVD mod, but that's also a bummer, since the big floodlight structures vanish completely when I pull out to LOD range. Are there any other mods that could keep my props from vanishing so quickly?

So even with the mod off, there is still a point where it flickers. If you position the camera right after the transition from main model to LOD, it will flicker. It's as if one of the flat field surfaces is a PROP. WTF? APVD just enhances the effect so that it happens from that point out to to ultra-long ranges. What is going on here? :(

The same issue appears for me with the RICO fields. These use pretty much the same style as the football field. Especially the x-large field causes so massive issues so I decided not to use it. So its not only your stadion havin g that issue.

Hopefully you can investigate waths causing this.

Well I solved my LOD flickering issue... it was caused by the illumination map. I guess flat planes that face upwards bug out if you give them an illumination map, not sure why. Luckily, my prop lights are doing enough to light up the field so I just removed the illumination map completely -- presto! flicker-be-gone. The stadium is now updated. The updated version also has a field that can be plopped by itself ...

Your stadium and sports field look good! Using lighting props is a more realistic way of illuminating fields anyway so you made something good and realistic.

My next project is Berlin's new massive (and quite hideous imo) Bundesnachrichtendienst (Spy Agency). I want to release a few building blocks so players can basically "Do-it-Yourself Spy Agency." So far I've made 4 parts (two building parts and two roof parts). I put them together in-game via oldschool welding techniques and it was a colossal pain in the butt to try to line them up, even tho I made a grid on the roofs to try to aid in alignment. Now I'm not sure how I should release them. Once again, what I figured would be a quick and easy project has turned into another logistical challenge. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Nice work so far! I know the feeling about "simple and quick" projects turning out not to be... If you don't mind mods being used you could make the different parts free-placing for more freedom... They would still require a road nearby but people wouldbe free of the layout... However right angles would be harder. But if they require roadside I don't see many other solutions than making it one building using sub-buildings...

About the texture, given the amount of repeated parts you might be able to get away with half of that (1:2 aspect ratio). The amount of windows in particular seems a bit high considering they are all the same anyway. The models would have to be divided more to randomize the window and concrete side patterns (talkig about dividing the faces into randomly placed retangles of different sizes with different UVs) but the geometry isn't probably too complex and the buildings not meant to be spammed all over the map, so I think it's ok to increase the geometry. :)

Thx for the feedback. I tried the Ronyx technique of building the complex on flat ground, then trying to copy it to where it goes, but no matter how I copy it via MoveIt! (with streets/without streets and with terrain following checked/without terrain following checked), I get an uneven copy. Does it have to do with how I created the buildings in the asset editor? I used a monument template, removed most of the stats values, and unchecked color variations. I left the rest default... maybe I need to do something with terrain there? I'm always uncomfortable with which asset template to use and which settings to toggle.

Spent a few hours old-school welding today with my four parts. I'm stoked at how it's starting to look. Still not sure how I'm gonna release this.

Went to see the BND in person today. Got a much better sense of the textures and the entrance. Looked like there were a couple of hundred people working there, so it must not be fully open yet. Eventually it will be staffed by 4000. :golly: Gonna adjust my textures to get some of that golden tint.

i hate this building so much! Everytime I pass this monstrosity I wonder if the architect is aware of his responibility to design something that fits into its surroundings. A building is something which will last a long time. You can make a big impact. This looks like Albert Speers (Hitlers architect) wet dream. Very fitting for a shady secret service but an eyesore for berlin.

By the way, @AmiPolizeiFunk. I like that you mod this building into the game. :) I will place it in my city. *:kitty: <- this kitty-emoticon stands for evil laughter. ;-)

Progress. In this version I welded the dozen or so pieces together by hand. I may just release the 4 building blocks (2 buildings, 2 roof props). It would take so long to re-do all of that work as sub-buildings in the Asset Editor, I dunno if I'm up for it.

My modular Spy Agency is now up on the steam workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1160453412

In the end I decided to just provide the components. I hope that some cool things get made with these parts :8) This was lots of fun to make. Pls post or tweet at me w/ screenshots or vids if you make something out of these blocks :ducky:

    Heh yeah thx :D

I'm hoping you guys will make wacky stuff with the parts and share screenshots n stuff. Won't be doing BER airport 'cause it's off my map. I'd be more interested in Tegel or Tempelhof, but even those don't make my top ten list. Not quite sure what I may make next. I like the idea of modular office stuff. There are a bunch of new buildings going up around the Hauptbahnhof and near Charitee Hostipal that are tempting. I'm also interested in improving my Potsdamer Pltz (we need the Kolhoff tower!) and Zoo ("ZooFenster" as well as the new "Upper West" would both make great C:S buildings IMO).

Looks quite nice.  I do wish for car ferries though, that exclusion was such a letdown.
