SC4 Devotion Outage for Server Move (Back Now - 7 June 2016)

SC4 Devotion is moving to a new server, and in order to accomplish this, the site will be out of commission for about the next 24-48 hours. Thanks to everyone for your patience during this move--we'll be back shortly!

Edit: Downtime is extended.  Update here.

Second Edit (June 2nd, 2016): We're down indefinitely, until the server gremlins can be effectively steamrolled.  Thank you for your continued patience and well wishes.

Third Edit (June 7th, 2016): We are now back, thanks to jeronij's tremendous server wrangling efforts.  If you are still getting the "Maintenance Mode" messages and the resultant "password loop", your ISP has not yet propagated the DNS update to the new server.  This may take up to 48 hours.

Last update I heard from jeronij was that the new server is up, and the forums work there, but the LEX was inoperable due to some database connection issues, which still aren't resolved yet.  He's waiting until those problems are addressed before requesting the DNS change.  No ETA at this point, as we've gone past the 24-48 hour mark.

Nothing new to report, unfortunately.  I do have access to the new server, and the LEX issues appear to still be present right now.  This issue is the real stumbling block right now, and I don't know how long it'll take to resolve.

How major is this error. Website use prevention? Or just a small glitch? 

Would it be possible to run the website even with this glitch or is it too large an issue for that?

Could you, or jeronij, open up SC4D while keeping the LEX locked until everything is sorted out?

That's what I was thinking @Ln X. If possible, it would allow the forums to be reopened.

I don't know the full extent of it, as all I can see is the front end.  If the site is still encountering teething issues on the new server, I'll check with Jeronij to see what all we can do.  I'm sure he's tirelessly working to try to resolve things right now.  In the scenario of a forum-only reopen, we'd probably still be looking at additional downtime, simply because it takes time for the DNS to propagate, and correctly point the URL to the new server.

Based on the time it took my site when we upgraded to a new server it ranged from anywhere from an hour up to a day and half before people could visit the site.

PS: Joan says to tell you she is moving this weekend and will be offline until they get internet access back again

The credit here all goes to Jeronij--I'm just the messenger on this one.  I have gotten in touch with him, and the issues still continue.  He's having to work with our webhost's tech support staff to iron things out.  A forum reopen while the LEX is down is very unlikely from the sounds of things, due to how things are configured.  There's no timeline at this point, as we have no idea how long it'll take to address these remaining problems. 

Thanks to everyone for their patience.  We hope to be back as soon as the server gremlins are steamrolled.

SC4D is my go to daily place to visit and im needing a fix... But glad Jeronij is getting this worked out as I know it can be a real pain in the behind for sure!

I'd have to imagine that our webhost (which is US-based) is probably a bit shorter on staff right now because of Memorial Day weekend.

Server moves and upgrades can be notoriously fickle processes, and it can be very hard to predict how long they might take.  This current outage is certainly proof of that.

Hmm. I just assumed the site was back up. I've been downloading some dependencies, like: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=101 without any trouble in the past couple hours.

Te lex has never been down, it's the forums.

It's not down. You can download from the LEX and browse the forum just fine. It's really just the site is being moved (think copy paste) to another server, which is why during that time we can't allow posts (don't know for uploads) as they wont be transferred to the new server.

The forum is on lock down, so no topics can be viewed, let alone posts being made! It might be different since your a moderator there (Am I right in thinking that?)

Its an "Administration Login" only, so I think you are right re art128  still being able to login and we can't
