Looking good! Those last shots totally give me a wintery feel with the white and blue colors. :P Can't wait for your next update :D

Yeah, im really interested to see how it looks on a winter map! ...that will be a cool sight to see it layered over with snow in game :)

Im thinking ill need to add at least some of the cool roman statues that are around the complex, and the gargoyles, those will be a lot of fun to make!

After seeing your WIP screenshots and the plans you have, I wonder if I should start saving for a faster rig :D

haha!  I am going to attempt to stick to the best range of tris per square meter to be optimal for the game, really when you think about it this will be far less tris than say a dense urban CBD comprising the same area.  Which is nice,  it means I can add a little bit more detail to the building.   I do need to be watchful though.

But you should get a stronger system anyway, more powerful tool combined with your mind is a win/win!

PS. im having so much fun with this building I think after I release a game version I will continue to polish it up over time and get really in depth with the details, its addictive. :D

My laptop is already filing for divorce on ground of relentless domestic abuse, so yeah, it's time for something new indeed. But until it is all formalized, I don't mind torturing it a bit more   Seriously though, so far my portable little beast hasn't disappointed one bit: GTA V in (almost) full glory, C:SL with max. settings and 1250 mods/assets, it's a little (only 14") trooper for sure.

On a different note, just do what you have to do with your estate - it's going to be ginormous for C:SL standards, so I guess it's safe to splurge a little.
And feel free to keep improving it after release, but don't even dare doing so before you finished those beauties you posted on the previous page - no one likes a tease ;)

yea, laptops can take a beating, Im too demanding on my system and have a giant PC that stays nice and cool even at full load.  Its the largest case I could find that I liked and its white so I call it the storm trooper :D  just got my first of at least two GTX980ti hybrids, my MB can hold 4 but I doubt Ill do more than two before switching everything over to the next gen Pro DUO or Pascal.  I have loads of fun building my pcs from scratch, which really isn't as flexible with small factor stuff.... besides Ive really come to resent small screens! haha!

Im loving how much of a challenge this is for me, im such a nut haaha!   Now I've decided I must hand model many of the fine details so I can bake those in.

I've been in further study on baking in high detailed normals, its a must on this building, the detail work is really thick and all over, statues, moldings, gargoyles, all that must be low-poly yet look high quality, otherwise I wont be happy with the results

Ive decided not to add any new game props with this asset, instead I will use sub-meshes for any minimal prop needs, I will still be following the game prop use/size/optimizing guidelines though.

Aside from the gardens/greenhouse in previous images, the rest of the property has a huge vineyard/winery, a massive resort, and there is an active decent sized tudor style village with a sweet grand entry to the property, and of course downtown Asheville is right down the way too :) Something tells me I have a good chunk of time left on this main building though....... lol ive yet to make my materials, added very many seams, or obviously done the uv's yet.

Yeah, gotta say I don't envy you in texturing and uv mapping this thing. :P Nvm the LoD, that's going to be a pain.

certainly hahaa!  ...but thats good, I love a challenge that pushes me.

once ive got all my materials made and on ill get a big boost of energy and blast through the last parts, it is going to take a bit lol but thankfully I dont have to do the interior! wow, its 1000% more epic and detailed inside.

This is the centerpiece of my Asheville map project, so its a must, plus im being quite inspired for my real world building & project designs ;)

Thanks I appreciate the encouragement :D  this is such a fun project, Im enjoying the whole challenge

Ive found some Blender tools that will make this go much quicker, the core bsurfaces addon, and now the Blender Sensei & Zero brush tools!  Do any of you use them?  I find it to be so good im going to buy the pro version of zero brush just to support him, very impressive addon.  Now with a lot more speed and ease I can make all these complex details and bake them into the normals to squeeze out the most possible realism lol.
