Boston 2.0 - finally most of the snowfall related issues solved

I had removed Traffic++ from a city completely (wthout ghosting) by removing all of its roads. That has been quite a while ago though. Also, as long as you have a backup savegame, it doesn't really matter if you break one.

Based off first hand experience of premature unsubscribing of Traffic++ without removing all the existing Traffic++ infrastructure will make it unable to properly load one's city.  I just removed the last of the two-way bus roadways in Seattle in anticipation of Network Extension's Friday release of Traffic++ bus roadways on that mod.  It definitely looks like TM:PE is the premier traffic management mod to couple with Network Extensions from here on out.

It seems Traffic++ will become incompatible when Snowfall DLC releases since the latest devnotes by CO mentioned Traffic++ being a big issue when the update hits.  Katalyst6 isn't inactive by any means since he posted about 15 hours ago on the Traffic++ mod page.  If anyone hasn't ditched from Traffic++ yet, they should strongly consider doing so immediately.

If you wait until friday, Network Extensions will take over the roads from this mod and you will be able to deactivate it

EDIT: I will disclose that I didn't join the TAM beta at any point, so someone with more knowledge on that end will help out there.  I know it is not publicly available still, so I'd stick with what is available publicly.

Thanks for that hint - can't believe I didn't know about the 8L bridge!

This view from Bunker Hill monument in Charlestown is for you - it looks much more like the real thing now:

Another try to load my saves. Due to the constant updating of NExt and Traffic++ V2 things start to calm down. I still get a few broken subway lines (bus lines work now though) and random errors regarding improved hearse AI for example and the common "NetSegment.GetLeftandRightLanes" error (sometimes).

Now there is only the massive death of trees! More than 80% of all the hand-planted trees have disappeared. Could it be connected to the fact that I have planted them with the old tree unlimiter mod (Which was replaced with the newer, snowfall compatible mod)? So far I haven't heard from anybody else that has experienced the same. It's so sad - it took ages to create all those parks - and now it's all gone...

    Hints? Anyone?

Sorry to hear that. I didn't notice any tree loss, but I stopped using the Tree Unlimiter mod when I experienced this tree switcheroo when I first used it (tree models changed). I decided to go back to it later, when I'm mostly done with the city. As a result, I have hardly any trees in the outer areas of my map, and I make sure I delete all trees from areas where I build anyway, in order to get some space within the normal limits.

Which is no answer to your question, I know. I hope you can find that it's connected to something else than the mod.

Ok - the trees are back. Some other (still unsolved) issues prevented the unlimited trees mod from loading properly... isolated features solved the problem.

After hours of investigating, I kind of lost my motivation to proceed with Boston for a while. It will be back, don't worry.

Meanwhile I'm working on a Colorado/Wyoming flavoured small mountaineous settlement - all from scratch with a customised theme, a new map and just a few houses. I'll open a parallel CJ on that soon.

Thanks for all the comfort during this discouraging process of adapting to the last patch...

    Dominic

That picture you posted showed how much mods have changed CSL in just a matter of short time. Unbelievable...

I live in Boston and I love they way you have built it. Any chance you are going to upload it to workshop so people can play off your city?

Boston looks nice! I never was in the city except for sitting at Logan Apt for a couple of hours...

Sharing might be difficult. The map is custom and most of it is done in game with extra landscaping tools. And there are 70 mods and 1500 assets....

So I don't know if a save would be of any use for anybody...

Is there a way to get a map with all the changes out of a save game? This might make things easier.

The map is actually part of the savegame. You don't need to offer the map separately. That's why you can unsubscribe from any workshop map that you use after you saved a city that you started building on there for the first time.

However, with 1500 assets, it's pretty much impossible to share this.
