So, I am starting a new thread here for any and all future assets I create for the game. My thread for the World Trade Center was originally supposed to be for that, but obviously it turned into a thread dedicated to that. In this one, I will try to keep WIP things to a minimum (or at least not like with the WTC), instead focusing on any finished assets and any updates on new stuff I'm working on.

For starters:

I'm sure most of you found it by now, but my first post-WTC building is the "Dump National Hotel", a magnificent golden slab to plop in your city. Actually, two, as it's actually two triangular towers in one lot. Especially if you read the Steam description, the name is a not-so-subtle parody of Donald Drumpf, mainly his penchant for all things gold and putting his name in 20 foot letters on every building he owns, like with the Drumpf tower in Chicago, where the DRUMPF name now looms over the Chicago River. Now, as I've been trying to work more on other more important things I really need to be doing, I need to spend a bit less time on Skylines stuff, but it seems I just can't resist as much as I'd like. I may or may not do a bus station eventually, but there's something else I'll look into...

Airplanes!

For the longest time, I had no idea how to import vehicles, what was needed for them, and so on. But I decided to just make a simply plane-shaped thing and test it in the game. I just kept the pivot point the same as you would with buildings, but I put the nose wheel and the forward main wheels a little lower, as I recalled reading somewhere that the game automatically makes those move, and it worked perfectly! All I'd need to do now is make a decent model with textures and an LOD. Here's the test I did:

Any suggestions for making planes work best would be appreciated! Especially where lighting is concerned, as I don't know if it's the same as with buildings.

Good luck with the planes! My last flything modeling was 15 years ago for Total Annihilation so I'm not going to bother you with antique advice :D

 

Again I'd like to state that the Dump Hotel is a fantastic asset, which I'm planning to make an anchor in my next city's CBD!

The Dump hotel is a very nice asset, well thought out, :) did you base the building on an IRL building?

Only thing that you might need to update is the illum map of the lod, looks kinda weird.

    I noticed the LOD issue before, but it's happened with one or two other buildings, and I have no clue how to fix it.

    Base textures are done-ish. Just need to figure out what livery to put on the plane now. Probably something fictional for now.

    The only problem is the textures with the livery probably won't look great at 1024x1024, but we'll see. Might be okay.

    e: With the world-famous golden DOA logo of course, a stalwart sign of international luxury since 1969! The golden inside of the O superimposed over the pristine D, signifying the sunny places these premium flights will take you, and just a strip of the squared A(-rating) down below, showing the kind glamour that is to be expected when looking from the outside in (like the rabble you are!)

    I like the Dump idea! But for now, I decided to go with something else: A fictionalized reimagining of the White Star Line (of Titanic fame) as an airline.

    Very nice asset ! But the pictutes are stunning. First two I was like " Ok here is the IRL base model ... Oh wait a minute" hahaha ! Gook work again !!

    A texture randomizer thing would be useful for a lot of things. Even to release a single asset that already has texture variations it could use.

    I was going to make a new bus station/terminal, but apparently the game's template, despite being available in the asset editor, and the paths being shown in the editor, with and without loading the original props or building, it just doesn't work in-game. When you try to place bus lines in the station, it only places them at the center of the lot.

    I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or what, but unless or until they fix it or there's a solution, I'll have to put this one on hold or scrap it.

    Yeah ! It look very nice ! That is sad... Maybe you should contact the DEV so maybe they can add this to their to do's. Could be nice to see that patched and have this awesome bus terminal.

    Did you try this mod http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=532863263 or Traffic++ to place the stops? That may work. The discussion actually mentions that this mod was specifically updated to work with the new bus station (use Shift key to move stop from default snap position).

    One unrelated question: do you still plan on doing any additional Simcity 3000 buildings? We got Neihu Plaza for SC4 at some point, and it's quite a nice building that may fit this game.

    THANK YOU!!! :D The multi-track station enabler mod did the trick!

    It works nicely! Just hold shift when placing the stop at the station, with the mod enabled, and you can place them just as with the default bus station. It works perfectly!

    On the SC3K biuildings:

    Yes, I do want to do more, I have screenshots for all the main buildings I can refer to at any time should I start making one, but I have other things to do, so I have to try limiting myself to things that are faster to make (having to makes things that need to be accurate to something tends to take longer).

    Does your station have the same goofy pathing as the default station?  Where entering and exiting  buses cross paths awkwardly, and the street access is always inconvenient?

    I believe that is correct, if they haven't bought the expansion then it won't show.

    Did you use the new bus terminal template? I think that is After Dark only. I would update your asset page with DLC requirement.
