Now that's what I call a good looking city! I really love the real look&feel you've put in it!  :ooh:

One question though: do you have any particular trick to have parallel roads? (especially the curved ones)

Edit: oh, and another one: maybe I've missed it, but what map are you playing on?

89James89: It can never hurt to experiment to find what works. I just tend to bulldoze when I find out what works though to try to make it look good. I'm leaving the overflow around for a bit, it sort of suits the area :)

    Schulmanator: Thanks!

NorthStars: Thanks, I try to keep my interchanges somewhat realistic :) glad it shows.

charlesnew: I have some updates on it in this post :)

max_13: Yeh, I'm leaving the little flood for now. Not sure what I'll end up doing with it yet.

Carnivorus: Welcome to Simtropolis, hope you enjoy your stay. Looking forward to seeing your own updates as well.

Mymyjp: Yep, steadily expanding. I've decided to keep the monument. Tell me what you think :)

Ultimate727: What do you think after this update?
tankmank: Bit more time between updates this time :)

TheX: Thanks for your kind words.

liberto: I normally use the freeform tool for my roads. It helps to draw both lanes from the same direction initially, and then reversing direction on one of them later. The map I made myself. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413802816

Benedict: Wow, was sure that I was going to drop this week :)

    Today's mods:

Star of today's show is the Waterfront Walkway by Tair: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=422857990

    Update:

I've been quite busy with work lately, and have been a bit tired. So instead of playing I've been watching some let's play stuff on youtube to relax. It gave me some ideas though. Feeling a bit more rested, I went back to playing again today, which mean.. I have an update :)

Forkton is doing well. There's more tourists arriving every day, people are feeling good, have jobs, and spare money to spend. The 'Church of Prosperity', a rather odd organization to be totally frank, has decided to build a cathedral in Forkton. They decided to plant it right in the middle of the Fork. It was drawing loads of visitors. I haven't seen many people enter though, most are just taking pictures of the outside. This basically kickstarted the development of the whole area, now called 'the Finger'.

    fX0En8m.jpg

We decided to let the church keep the tip of the Finger, since they sort of started the whole deal. The entire Finger was surrounded by a nice walkway.

    fdLWSRu.jpg

The people seem to enjoy looking over the busy Portside and the docks.

    NQpS6j5.jpg

The whole area is rather upper class. There are plenty of plaza's and a brand new (really expensive) mall.

    e2cDCF4.jpg

Since there were tourists around, an aquarium was built here as well, right across from the main park area.

    AluxM7G.jpg

People were quick to move in as well.

    D8HU6bD.jpg

Along with shops, offices and services.

    Mh5qr71.jpg

It has a rather modern feel to it.

    oBTxehI.jpg

    That building sure is pretty.

    HMlWqSW.jpg

Some private parking for the cardinals....

    3543BIM.jpg

A small fair, it's called Fingertip Fair for obvious reasons.

    Uv2EFJO.jpg

OOC: I love the 'accidental symmetry' in the buildings in this picture :)

    tWTu1qi.jpg

The Finger has its own ferry terminal.

    MJESvDp.jpg

    It fits!

    znDb9bx.jpg

Overview of the area from the Portside bridge

    t6iZPxm.jpg

Speaking of bridges; The farmers from Otherside were complaining that it took then way too long to get their goods over to other locations. We've added a few new bridges to accommodate them.

You can see the new Forkton bridge from the Spoon:

    A6x9lXD.jpg

This one was high enough for the ferries on the first try!

    I0uHVlj.jpg

A smaller bridge was built to give a direct connection from Otherside to the Furnace.

    Ci5uep7.jpg

Anyways, it's been a memorable day. Forkton has officially passed the 100.000 residents mark. Crazy stuff.

Great pictures but awful entry title.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

Hmz, I guess you might be correct. Seemed funny at the time, but I guess it could hurt people's feelings. I'll change it, since I don't want that.

Really good! I love that broadwalk, I do not used already.

By the way, have you tried to place broadwalk one each other without spaces in the middle? I guess they work similar as ferry and cargo docks.

Ah, the waterfront walkway is awesome. I thought about doing a spotlight for this asset, but I figured you guys would see it anyway as it was a top post on reddit. Great use, also I really like what you did to the area around the citadel/cathedral thingy.

Looks gorgeous. Loving the use of the boardwalks and the cathedral looks lovely!

All the dense highrises make it look like a nice looking Manhattan (or something along them lines)

    Cheers

    Haljackey; yay reading :)

Balthoraz: yeh, this was as close as I could get them. When you have some slight curves as well it only makes it worse.

In the end I decided to treat them as stairs that people who fell from the boardwalk or ships can use to get back on shore :)

charlesnew: yes, that was exactly my thought when I saw these :)

Mymyjp: thanks. Yeh, it didn't turn out  too badly :)

max_13: thanks, I just had to play with them as soon as I found them, and the finger was the perfect place for it. Now we have to wait for decent canals :D

    Simwarrior: yep!

Ultimate727: hehe, thanks :) I guess the area just had to grow into the cathedral :)

NorthStars: Feel free, I can always use more tax payers! :)

Luiz P. Romanini: That was pretty close to my original entry title, but decided against it....

    Sansha: thanks

Carnivorus: thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing them pop up in other CJ's :)

89James89: a nice looking Manhattan... that actually sounds pretty good!

    Not really update time:

work has been busy lately, just got home at around 21:00, so I can't show you an update.

However, I did managed to shoot some nice pictures during a project visit I did today, which seemed to fit in some way. I'm pretty bummed out the last panorama shot got completely overexposed, so much so, that even with photo editing I can't really make much more of it. I might mess around a bit more with it later, but I'll just post them.

Click the panorama shots for the larger version :D

Bad picture quality is from a phone camera, and me being a bit shaky standing on some scaffolding a LONG way from the ground (or river more accurately).

    wiqyE9u.jpg

We need BIG lifting bridges in this game. Both lifting bridge decks are the size of a football field, and weigh in at around 5 million kg.

    9uKBHrU.jpg

Here are the panorama shots from way up.

    ewI1NHO.jpg

    and the sadly overexposed one:

I love Rotterdam, but I don't know where those picures are taken. I guess it's very far away from the city centre. Is this on the south side of Rotterdam? Hollands Diep etc. or is that river some other river? I think it's not the Maas, but it could be.

EDIT: I discoverd that if you look at the  first panorama, you can see most the few skyscrapers of the netherlands just above that highway on the left.

This is my first post in this forum and i will only do it because of this city.

Its the most amazing looking city I ever saw, great job and I hope you keep posting updates.

Maybe someday i will have the patience and creativity to do a city that is half as good as yours

wow, finally finished all 9 pages. i read slow. So, you are so good at roads because you do it for a living? Curious now that you posted those RL pics. I want to start a CJ now that I got the game. I plan on A: Streaming my gameplay, and than B: posting pictures with link to the VOD if you want to watch. Currently I'm trying to unlock all the buildings though by ruining some cities.

If you want to record video I recomend OBS.

    https://obsproject.com/

You don't have to stream, it can be local record. I do stream to twitch, and twitch can link to youtube fore easy upload.

    EDIT:

I bet that would look great in your city. I do not know if you have scene it yet.
