First off, KillFace, welcome to ST!  (I recognize you from Reddit. :))

Aside from our experiment with giving a release date for the last NAM release, we aren't publicly announcing a release date for NAM 31.1.  That said, we're basically just doing some final checking to ensure that the controller file, at its current size, isn't going to cause a repeat of what happened with NAM 31.  I'd say it's "imminent".

Yes, this is a known problem for certain users, and it will be fixed very shortly.

Oh, I see. Alright then, thanks for the info. Appreciate it..

Heh!  We'd all like to see that one, but the NAM team has never given dates before, and I am sure won't again.  You'll have to be surprised like the rest of us.  It is probably safe to eat worms and garlic now to bait your breath.

On another topic.  My plugins folder is still around 1.1 GB even after removing RHW.  I guess this is due to the bloat in the traffic controller?  My disk's doctor is concerned about all this excess weight.

Awesome. That's as good as a date for me. I've been playing BF3 instead, but I can't wait to get back to SC4. I'll probably have to start my region that I made with NAM 31 over, right? Not that I mind terribly. It was my first SC4 region ever and I'd like to do some things differently with what I know now.

On that note, how easy is it to use Mapper to edit the placement of city tiles in a region I downloaded here? I'd just like to shift them a little bit. I haven't tried yet, so it may be easy.

Also, I'm assuming this thread is as good a place as any to find the news when NAM 31.1 does drop?

Cheers,

KF

Will there be more documentation for the NAM components in NAM 31.1?

It's not really bloat, just code for things that people won't do frequently. Things like SAM parallel to L3 RHW-4 going under L2 RHW-4. We're not removing bloat here (The new RULs are pretty good like that), we're removing actual functionality.

I have tons of disk space but the loading time has increased.  I moved the documentation folder to:

<me>/SimCity 4/NAM Documentation

If this is going to get bigger, I suggest you set up the installer to do likewise.  AFAIK the loader reads the header of all files and could care less about extensions.

The loading time increase is due almost entirely to the increased size of the controller, and the time needed to process it.  The documentation is too small to be a factor here.

Probably due to the size of the controller, but having the documentation inside the plugins directory for the NAM is a bit of a nuisance.  You really should separate anything that is not a plugin from those files.  This is just good practice, even if it doesn't matter much.

Error in posting...

Which post? The one that you said there’d be more documentation in NAM 31.1?

No, that was a self-referential message.  I started a post and actually posted it, and then discovered that the post I was responding to had already been answered.  I would have just deleted my post, but there's no way to do that here.

Before i got my laptop in December 2012 i used to play sim city on a 2004 e Machine computer with 3GB Ram. With all the mods i had on there it would take upwards of 5 minutes to start the game and another 3-5 to start a city as well as around 7 minutes to 10 minutes to load.

Hi guys! Question: is it normal that no Sims walk through the pedmalls? I've been trying to build pedmall bridges and pedmall paths but it seems that it's just for decoration... is there anything wrong with my mods?

Will there be pics of all the texture modifications in the NAM in NAM 31.1?

From what I know, there are little to no texture modifications in the NAM 31. Everything that did get modified is already being accounted for in the NAM Texture Database ZIP if you want to do texture editing...

I meant photos of the Standard/Euro textures and the customization options, like what you did for your NAM Retextures and Cosmetic Mod Euro Version.

can i ask if its possible to have RHW transitions that stays leveled(road surface) instead the highway support go deeper(a sort of inverted transition) so that land bridges be possible?

I was looking forward to NAM 31, but after hearing some of the problems with it, I think I'll stick with 30.

At least it wasn't as bad as a botched release as SC13, right? :whatevs:

(and also, I'm sure it's a far superior product!) :golly:

You may not want to stick with NAM 30. ;)

You can do that with an On-Slope transition to an extent, if you're crossing perfectly level land.  There's also the land bridge trick, using the Rain tool from Extra Terrain Tools.

I've been running V31 successfully for about two weeks or more now.  I eliminated both RHW and GLR, and tried to kill anything associated with them.  I don't use these features in my current style of play, and everything else seems just fine.

Anyway, the horse is definitely on me today.

I was doing a reinstall to clean something up, and managed to clobber my backup. I lost everything and even had to rebuild my Plugins. Starting over is sometimes good for you. I did a complete review of my plugins and dropped a few of the ones that have now become obsolete, and some I found I really didn't want.

I lost all my regions as well, but I wanted to start over anyway, and it wasn't all that much of a blow.  Smile, I could have lost my wine environment, and rebuilding that would have been rather sticky.

Only took me 14 hours to get back to operating shape.

My first city since installing NAM 31.1 I have a whole bunch of other mods installed, so perhaps there is a conflict?

All of my Avenue-Avenue intersections are surrounded by brown boxes, and zone-adjacent 3-lane One-way Roads are covered by them.

Any help would be much appreciated.

It looks like you might have a misinstalled copy of a streetlight mod, such as the Light Replacement Mod (LRM), in your Plugins.

The NAM itself just uses default streetlights and doesn't require external dependencies.

Removed LRM and it fixed it. Thanks.

Odd that it didn't do that before 31.1 though...

Thanks.

Which LRM version did you install? LRM v5.1 should work fine with NAM 31.1 if you install it right (that means, it loads after ALL NAM files, even the extra overrides in "Plugins\z___NAM"
