City Tile keeps disappearing.. BUT the city isn't gone

See attached file.

The city is still there, and I've found that the most common solution for my city to come back is to save in game, then exit to main screen without saving, with/without some playtime of letting it just run for a while. I reckon it's a bunch of conflicts in the gazillion plug-ins I play with, but any other suggestions and/or potential fixes?

Also, here it is all fine, but when I turn on traffic view, it does this. Not a disaster, but it annoys me. Fixes I find is just, again, going on the city, and leaving it for a while and then saving and exiting to world map.

I know I am using a version of NAM but I think the alternative traffic world map view is a separate mod, but one I downloaded years ago...

You are very lucky the city was not corrupted.  This behaviour is caused by switching focus away from the game during a save causing the city snapshot tp be lost.  The game is very sensitive to keeping focus during disk operations.  Do not do a save/quit then hit alt+tab.  Wait for the game to complete the save.

What a fantastic region map that is. Is that homemade or downloaded from somewhere?

It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning to long to believe that the tides going to turn.

That happens to me all the time, regardless of me switching (I don't do it a lot in those situations) or keeping focus on the game window. I can't seem to catch a break from city screenshots disappearing. :O

I mean, it's a not a real problem considering the way I use SC4, but yeah...it happens regardless.

Never happens to me.  It is a matter of discipline, I think.  I run the game full screen and never switch from it except to switch desk tops entirely when working on forum articles.

For me, the snapshot never disappears, but occasionally the traffic view gets messed up and all roads show up as black, as in the second picture. Never caused any adverse effects other than an ugly traffic view. It's probably a NAM bug, since NAM does change the regional traffic view and I've never had the problem before installing NAM.

Oh crap! Thanks for this. Yeah, I play SC4 in windowed mode (well technically through a launcher that launches it in windowed mode and does autosaves every now and then incase of crashes). I did what you said and everything is fine. Cheers. As for the traffic view...

Yeah, I think it's just a bug of some sort. I should have a look at seeing if NAM has been updated in the past 3/4 years (which hopefully, it has) since this NAM I'm using is probably incredibly outdated.

Thanks! It's a homemade one using the config icon method I think? I made this at least 3 years ago and only just returned to try and complete it all, haha. Maybe I should document it on here as I've seen that been done

This happens to me all the time and I've never had any corruption isssues. Having said that, it can happen so it's best not to even touch your PC after hitting save until you get a popup that says the city has saved.

Using two monitors, I run SC4 windowed full screen on one monitor and derp around the net on the second monitor. I usually just save and use the time I'm waiting browsing the net until it's done. When I finish a playing session though, I try to 'truly' save the game and give it the time it needs to complete accurately. This way I can see the city in region view.

Never happened to me either, I even copied regions from one folder to another but the snapshots were still there (it resulted to a prop pox however).

Could it be you are playing SC4 not on full screen mode? Alright, you answered my question already.

I've had my cities corrupted before. Ever since then, I've been saving a backup of the entire region every day I play. It's 50 MB so it takes 20 plays to fill up 1 GB, which I feel is well worth it.
