HyugaHinta: For real yes. Everything works together amazingly in comclomberation together nicely all mods.

 

That mega udon is actually two udon's combined from two seperate regions. The one city in front udon is a mirage and I wraped Honsuckle marsh into to that one to create a mirror image which is awesome.

@everyone.. i know I'm just a modder .. but i wanted to say THANK YOU .. and how much I appreciate all your artistic endevors using our mods to create these amazing cities.

 

A lot of work goes into making mods.  More than most people realize.  A lot of heart soul and our spirit in many ways are in every mod we publish for you to use and from what I can see ENJOY.

 

But in no way shape or form could I ever imagine how many directions ideas and creative versions and use of all this stuff you could have come up with in my wildest dreams.

 

YOU ALL make me smile.  YOU ALL make me wish to continue to make mods and try to help grow the community more and add more Artists 2D and 3D, Scripters and coders along with other types of resources so we can tackle all the aspects that make these mods difficult to deploy at a continuous pace.

 

I'm beyond proud of the SUGC team and I'm absolutely amazed by each and every one of you whom come up with these amazing cities using the mods we created.  You are what make it all worth it for most of us.

 

This is about PEOPLE.. This is about Community and this is about all of you.  We or at least I do this all for everyone whom finds value in our mods and efforts to create these wonderful pieces of ART.

 

DO NOT THINK ITS ANYTHING LESS you are creating LIVING ART in my eyes.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING .. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT and I REALLY HOPE TO SEE SO MUCH MORE FROM ALL OF YOU.. I find going into this thread one of the most rewarding things as a modder to do and see how much has been done.

    Anyway, good post Xoxide.

     

    What would I do without you modders? Simcity sure would be lacking and very limited.

     

    These mods make us happy and enable us to push the boundries of the game and do new things in the game, which just as fun as designing a city and seeing it come to life for not just simcity any game that is.

    Why do you need 2D and 3D scripters? What new mods do these skills involve and since I am on the subject which 2 or 3 mods do you want to see most come out for simicity eventually?

     

     I see there are a few new building mods done already like Project Shinjidai,museum. These are great additions into the game since it does not write over existing buildings. We def need more new building mods like this and I def see great things in store for that.

    I know, it must be awesome for a modder to see something they made being used in there cities as it is rewarding for making a very large smooth running perfectly working city.

     

    It is art for sure. Living art also. I should make a city journal when all my regions are done and label my screenshots nicer. I'd like to make a video of my cities running on youtube eventually and take a fly through on them in motion that would be sweet. You could literally hook a a pc up to a 60" super thin flat screen or even a high res. projector and make it look like a living moving painting. You could have 40" tv's beside it on the wall that show all the other regions moving in action.

    I like how you can now build stuff around greatworks and incorparate them into your cities. Well look at this I ploped an airport way outside the z axis and got no z x plop through. Only working for the airport in this spot lol. Most my latest cities are still a work in progress. I will later go back to them and touch them up.

    I was going to say it signifies he talks a lot more than I do ahhahah :) but he knows I'm only playing :) .. he messaged me when he woke up cuz I had sent him a private to make him smile..

     

    I meant what I said above to be honest.  I didn't get into modding or into the simtrop community for the usual reasons..  I was working or trying to work with maxis to create and build a bridge to deal with the lack of information.  I told oppie what I was going to do and he thought honestly which is funny if he ever answers an email since he is so busy .. NUTS .

     

    And yet here we are 1.8 months later and we have changed so many opinions and so much of the game that it feels like a new version of the game honestly when played off line

     

    ALL of the efforts leading to the point where we went and moved from devtest 2.0 to the simtrop community to work with Dizzy, Sky and Cranky was very intentional.  But not a million years did I expect the mods to reach nearly 180k of downloads in 2 months which represents nearly 12 to 14% of the entire ownership of SimCity 2013 using our mods.

     

    THAT is something I would have never saw coming or happening a year ago and we owe that to ALL OF YOU USERS WHOM USE THE MODS FLAT OUT.

     

    We have worked hard and continue to work hard to listen to feedback and take constructive criticism out of everything we read and improve our mods as if we were developers of EP's and DLC's for the community .. S UGC means SimCity User Generated Content .. just like U DLC and U EP user DLC user Expansion Pak

     

    The unbelieveable work that so many of the modders have done working together to create a team that can pump out quality of content on par with that of maxis is what we strive for and we shoot for intentionally.

     

    I learned SO MUCH talking to maxis and the developers and everything they taught me I have tried to put back out into the community in the form of our modding efforts.

     

    THIS IS COMMUNITY FOR COMMUNITY EFFORTS.

     

    Oppie and I have really managed to cram our heads full of information that we are trying to give to the other modders to create amazing new works we can't even think of yet.  AND HONESTLY FROM CAP to JULIA and YAYIE .. DANNY AND CRAFT whom was devtest and released his first mod only this past week..

     

    SERIOUSLY OMFG I'm so proud of the krew assembled that represent the Simtrop and SimCity 2013 Modding group.. Except for 2 or 3 people so busy they can't be members everyone is working so hard together to create NEW ideas and share LEARNED ideas with each other to better themselves and the mods.

    YOU ASK a ton of questions above.

     

    Simple answers is that Buildings are 3D however all art on buildings including textures and colors are 2D images done in Photoshop.. Icons  and Splash screens suggestions and are all simple artwork in Photoshop

     

    SCP created by Oppie requires 3d and 2d artwork to be prepared in a method basically that the program can compile into something useable within the game.

     

    This part of the process is far from complete or easy to always replicate.  We have 2 PIPELINES we are working on .. 3DS which was Oppies pipeline from the beginning and now I'm working on a Maya 2009 pipeline that is a little closer to maxis's original tools as much as I possibly can.

     

    NOTHING is complete NOTHING is well documented NOTHING is perfect and we run into bugs every day we have to figure out how to work around but all mods are based around some simple ideas

     

    NO CHEATS

    ENHANCED USER ENGAGMENT

    EXTENDED GAME PLAY

    QUALITY OVER QUANTITY (even though in 2 months 144 mods have now been released to date its due to the quantity of people involved)

     

    Tribal Knowledge and getting it from all of the resources we can and putting it into a document that everyone can use or training others is the key factor in this extended family now called the SUGC

     

    WE need more people to seriously grow and expand..  We have a solid 15 - 20 people but we need a solid 100 people if we wish to start pushing out content and quality and actually trying to work on serious ideas that the COMMUNITY is asking for that we have already not provided

     

    My list was compiled over 1.3 years of listening to all sides to create a list of mods and blueprints needed to accomplish X tasks to give to the community to work and start growing on their own

     

    YAYIE, DANNY, CAP, TOBSE, JULIA, JOHNNY, ELRIC, NIKOLA, MAXSKV, CRAFT, PINKY, OPPIE PRSO82, YUTTHO and all the FIRST GEN PEOPLE whom are no longer with us and so so so so so so many more people whom help and work on mods are whom all make this information become something new and more useful by examining the blue prints created by all sources and figuring them out.

     

    3+ months to create ONE DLC type Mod for Japanese content with a rather small handful of new buildings 16 new buildings and out of that we took and recycled some into the $$ from $$$ to extend use of the mod.

     

    IS ALOT OF WORK

     

    Markus for figuring out and Making the new INSTALLERS WHICH help everyone save time downloading and also installing and uninstalling mods for ONLINE and OFFLINE use.   WE HAVE ALONG WAYS TO GO BUT WHERE we are is an amazing place to be in such a short time.

     

    The more people we have on each team working on specific details working in collective groups means that more mods can be worked on with higher quality and consistency of that of an Independent Game Developer based on MINI teams that are a clone of that used by Maxis.

     

    This is what the SUGC is striving for and what I really wish to accomplish.  I cannot go 120% for another 1.8 years and be expected to produce .. I am trying to shift myself to administration and project management so that others can mod and use the information we obtained through working with and talking to so many that were part of Devtest 2.0.

     

    THE DEVELOPERS are amazing .. they actually take time when needed to talk one on one with our team members to explain new things we tackle and explain limitations and also how to use the engine against or WITH itself to accomplish MORE.

     

    BUT ALL of this was an effort of truly heart felt pleasure in getting to know those at the maxis studio and the hard work they put in to everything. 

     

    2 years ago I would have never knew 90% of the game terminology that I now use if it wasn't for directly working and talking with the developers whom were happy to educate and share knowledge with most of us whom were willing to ask and listen to the hard questions.

     

    All of this again is not about me.. not about the mods I make its about what information we can provide to the community to allow everyone to bring the game to the next level using what we have learned and hopefully blow away what we already released or enhance everything we have released by learning more than we had in that time period.

     

    The window of opportunity for learning information was never wasted and always used to help the community in the long run.. this was 100% what Oppie and I wanted the first month the game was launched and I could not be prouder of the members whom are making that happen and become a reality.

     

    So when I said everything I did above.. it came from my heart.. It was genuine and heart felt and honestly if it wasn't for fear in the past I think I would have said a lot of this a long time ago.

     

    REDDIT is a difficult place to grow up with SimCity let alone 2013 which didn't do well there.. THAT was where I got involved first.. it was only Simtrops BUGGI and OPPIE and others whom got me involved over here to start posting and pushing out content and trying to slowly gain momentum with the mods we pushed out in the form of blueprints to create a really good CORE team of modders whom are beyond amazingly gifted.

     

    SOME OF THE MODDERS ARE ONLY 12 .. and SOME are 65.. This shows how ALL of them can come together and work together for the common good of the community.

     

    There are not enough kind words that can be given to the members whom have worked hard including BANWASHERE Whom put so much time into creating an EXACT top of the icon and image files to help us create quality icons as much as possible to create an EXTENDED UI in the form of AKAR which yayie maintains with amazing results.

     

    nearly 600 Objects x 3 items changed 4 times brining artwork to like 5000 items just to make akar what it is today.  Julia making icons now for her regional enhancements for roads and paths DISPITE ALL OF US being told it could NOT be done... and yet via communication and effort REGIONAL TUNNELS, BRIDGES, WATERWAYS and now we are building on water.

     

    NOBODY can tell me they expected where we are today 3 months ago let alone 2 months ago when the SUGC was formed.

     

    ALL OF THEM

    ARE THE BEST MODDERS IN THE WORLD

    CREATIVE AND RESOURCEFUL

    SINCERE AND GENUINE.

     

     

    I have never had the honor of working with such an amazingly diverse group of individuals in my entire life.

     

    AND THIS IMO is just the beginning.

     

    What was now created becomes the NEW BLUEPRINTS for tomorrow's efforts and I know that tobse and others like cap will completely redefine everything that we call a standard today.

    None of this would be possible without COMMUNITY HELPING COMMMUNITY and PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE.

     

    This is more than just about a game its about dedication and moving through the thickest brush and haze to create something I don't even think Maxis or EA thought was possible in such a short time.   1.8 years and only 2 months into community modding to be where we are

    There's a lot of aspect needed to get new item or a content into the game. It may be simple to add a small new item in the game but it require's a process from scripting, 3d and 2d. Those skills a required to make a single object playable. So if any of you have the skills, feel free to contact us and join us - share the knowledge and skills. This could improve the community years to come.

    You want insight as to what the hell has gone on in the past two-three months? Xoxide's post above sums it up :) and yeah, it's still a long post. I don't have the patience or the intelligence to match the quality of that post.

    Connection from the interchange from Sawyers crossing(on left with the amusment park), HuckleBerry Island is in the middle and in front of the space center where harper plains sits. Thatcher overlook sits next to the right of huckelberry island. This connects to that one 40mw freeway bridge at the end of the island, which connects all the way accross to the other region, washtub city with all the cities regions also connnected together via interchanges.

     

    Because of the awesome camera mod's zoom capabilities, I was able to connect the other regions accross. It was like performing surgery though trying to connect the tiniest road with little vision way far away lol.

    At Washtub valley it does not show the last 4 megatowers around the archeology. So I added 4 megtowers around it in the back from washtub to complete it and put a avenue road around it from washtub.

    So guys I did it. 4.75 million sims in one city. At Spooner Plains where the super archeology is, after getting all my megatowers up and running plus my built city this is what I have and it's running smoothly also.

     

    I am using Nikola101's real population mod 1.1 so it shows 475.000 as the number of sims. For every 10,000 on real pop mod = 100,000 without the mod on.

     

    I also made a comparison shot of real pop mod off and on below.

     

    First had to fight alot of crime.

    how do you guys connect claimed cities with regional streets? i tried building regional street from trinity point to clearwater and then i load clearwater, the street just don't appear.

    As of now, regional streets can't be seen or used by other cities when they're outside of the original city borders. I know how you feel, I'm making a big city with the borders overlapping each other. I have to rely on the highway connecting the cities.

    tingki: Thanks for skyestorme showing this in the video. I forget which one though. You have to draw the exact road layout that connects your cities on each city so that it mirrors that one drawn and then connect it to the interchange at the other city and they travel and you get a region connection box you just can't send trucks over because there technically is no road connection but cars travel and visitors travel from regions.
