So I decided to open a thread for those having problems using my mods (since I'm terrible at writing readmes), or have suggestions to improve them. I usually don't take requests unless I really like the idea, have the skills (no BATs)  and the time/ will to fulfill them. Might worth a shot :D

Magneto is it possible to change the trees plopped in god-mode? That would be great.

OK I've just tested Magneto's RHD fix for NekoPunch's Pedbridge facelift mod and although the signs now appear on the right side of the Avenue Pedbridges (also Magneto was correct in stating that the signs only appear on the Avenue Pedbridges):

pedbridge1.png

pedbridge2.png

As can be seen, they are floating in mid air :lost:  But that only happens on a few of the Ped Bridge models and a minor workaround is to re-plop the Pedbridge and hope that a model whose orientation is correct would be plopped in its place.

Here's an example of a Ped bridge model whose orientation works:

Pedbridge3.png

I've also noticed that the signs would only appear on that upper left corner & not on both sides (direction of traffic):

Pedbridge4.png

So I guess another workaround would be to remove the signs altogether perhaps? :lost:

Also, I forgot to reply to jmsepe's question regarding the God Mode Trees:

Magneto is it possible to change the trees plopped in god-mode? That would be great.

Actually, it is possible. All you need is a Tree controller like these:

or,

@magneto i have a problem, i use the mods "Cascadia Tree Controller", "Maxis Seasonal - Residential & Commercial Lots (no CAM version)" and your mod together (Sayonara! Maxis Trees), but when the "Murimk Farmhouses" from the "Murimk Farm Addons for SPAM Vol2" grow in the game i have brown boxes and i click on it and says that i need all the peg mtp trees and all bsc trees *wtf*, i installed all the dependencies, i don't understand, now i have a headache :P, and I dont have CAM-c$ installed and other maxis tree replacements. I installed all the dependencies with the most recently updates. :(

pd: sorry for my poor english :P

Off hand I would guess your problem is not with Magneto's tree mod, as the trees mostly used for SPAM are from Pegasus and not the Maxis ones, therefore this mod is not supposed to replace the trees on these lots as well.

I think you probably only need the PEG MTP Trees - that's based on BSC Trees meaning the BSC prop packs for CP's trees, as you will have these as a dependency of the Cascadia Tree Controller.

If you download a lot of content from different creators, you will find you need a lot of different tree-based dependencies at some point. The only way round this would be to re-lot files to use your set of trees and not the PEG ones (in this example) then you would not need the additional files.

Magneto it has been a while. Is it possible to change the sidewalk especially for diagonal roads to gray. The maxis white or green sidewalk is annoying, it doesn't fit much in the city. I am referring to this:

See the green areas near the gas station and across it? :)

I don't know if this has been brought up, but, I used the JPN Sidewalk Mods, and here's my comprehensive take on it:

The good: the decors look really lovely, with the fenced sidewalks, realistic light poles, and wonderful plant renderings. Heck, most of the things I saw on the mod reminded me of my only visit to Tokyo (5 days' worth), but, I left with a great impression of how orderly, clean, punctual, and efficient Japan's infrastructure network is. I also love the overhanging directional signs that give motorists a heads-up of the next crossing, and I truly love the traffic signals that came with it that reminded me of the traffic lights on most Tokyo intersections.

Now, my main concern: with traffic signals, it is imperative that the light goes red (meaning vehicles on one side will stop) while the other side gets the go or green light. However, inspecting closely at the traffic signals, especially on avenues, I notice that the light, for some reason, stays green (even though normally, the light goes red), and when I want to do a UDI mission, I ran into near collisions since I had no idea whether my side was "red" (stop) or "green" (go). An illustration of my concern can be seen below, in one of my cities (still being built in preparation for my CJ):

14670046528_9b9e81c728_b.jpg

My question is: is there a way for the traffic light to somehow show red so that drivers won't get confused as to whether my light is green or red? It seems to me that the light isn't functioning as it should. The props, though, are superb. :D

Interesting observation FoD. Albeit I am not sure if it the mods fault or not, taking at this image closely.

123.png

Look at the traffic lights in the 9m road, they are all green which of course should not be the case. Perhaps this is caused by another problem?

^^ Very good question as well. I wonder if the overrides play a role in that problem because I'm experimenting which light set I would use to represent my region. Yet, your image again shows what the prevailing problem is: all green signals, no reds.

Brown boxes mean missing dependencies. You are missing the trees, right? From the name, I guess you only installed the first half of NekoPropSet01 (NekoPropSet01-1.zip). The prop set is split in two parts for download, and the second part (NekoPropSet01-2.zip) contains the nature stuff.

By the way, try installing that replaces the brown boxes with a small colorful marker. Makes it easier to see what's there and have an idea what's actually missing.

I have the dependencies as mentioned, as well as Neko Panchi's prop pack. Firstly, everything was normal. But the problem appears in September(or October? - forgot) at Fall [CMIIW]. Since the trees are seasonal, the brownbox comes up for Neko Fallenleaf. But doesn't happened to the others trees. They turn normal again in early January (or December end)

this is the list of all dependencies i have installed:

  • Neko Panchi JPN Sidewalk Mod and subsequent dependencies
  • Neko Props set 1 (part1) (part2)
  • Neko Props set 3
  • LRM Mega Pack vol 04 only the props
  • MAS71 Prop Pack vol 01
  • MAS71 Prop Pack Vol03
  • Aqua877 prop
  • Jondor's Modular RR Props (only the props)

i installed only the prop packs from the LRM v4 and the prop pack from Aqua877 props

Jondor's Modular RR Props, and work well, the problem is with the flora in september and october, i have suden villey terrain mod by gobias (this come with the seasonal flora patch in the terreain DAT) and i don't think this cause the problem, or i don't know, i have cascadia tree controller to.

here is the  SEP-OCT seasonal flora problem

Well, the Neko_Fallenleaf_Avenue_desc.dat etc. files are in NekoPropSet01-2.zip, and some Fallenleaf models are in Prop Set 3. Not sure what to tell you. When I had it installed, it worked fine. I had Lowkee's terrain mod, but the rest was pretty much the same.

The markers that I suggested would make it easier to see whether the trees are there or not. It may just be the models of the leaf patches on the ground that are missing, which are in PropSet03.

Thanks for installing OPPS mod. As I said, you are most probably missing NekoPropsSet03, for the fallen leaves models. Look here:

I like the look of the Japan Sidewalk mod except at night. All those blue lights for streets and orange for roads give me a major case of migraine.

I really wish this mod could be setup to use USL instead of LRM because I prefer USL's ability to setup light cones to use one specific color, in my case white is my preferred color.

Well Cahos look at this. Apparently, for Asian countries that is the correct color. Hahaha.

On another note, Magneto you remembered when I ask why I have no ped xing zebra lines on road to road intersections? You gave me a file (SFTB something) but since I revamped my plugins folders, I lost it. Can you please send it to me once again? Thanks.

Correct doesn't necessarily mean what I'd also like :P

SC4 is about creating OUR Dream cities in ways WE envision it. And orange is definitely not my ideal light color.

Yup. I have the feeling, the LRM setup goes for the feel of those long exposure images of the night lightscape of skyscraper cities, which is a cool thing. In my cities of low to mid-rises, it looks off though.

Well yes and no, like any other hobby it's all about how much work you put in to get it right, if you don't want Orange then it's time to learn how to change such niggles. I've stopped playing and been going through a list of everything that bugs me "fixing" it. I am releasing everything I can back to the community which gave me so much help to make them, because it would not have been possible without all the hard work of others to document what they know.

But if you are not willing to take this approach then usually you will have to live with whatever options are available, ideal or otherwise. Learning the basics of the Lot editor is a must if you really want to start making "your" cities.

Think of it as the difference between making a model railway using only the parts you can buy and buying the the main parts but creating everything else yourself, the results are staggeringly different.

Which is why I went back to Jeronij's Street tree mod, USL compatibility FTW~!

Also I have a problem using the LotEditor as the interface is a bit clunky to use & I find it difficult to make precise approximations with placement as I can't see clearly, vision impairment for the loss... :(

I am also perfectly fine playing with stuff people make for the game. If something doesn't quite work for me I'm perfectly fine moving onto others that will :)

Yeah, my vision doesn't get better either. But have you tried PIM-X? That one has a snap-to-grid function. You can define what grid to use.

Y'know.. it's possible to add certain codes to the command line of LE's shortcut the same way you do with SC4

Setting the program to run on a custom resolution fitting to your screen (while keeping it in windowed mode) might give some benefits for us visualy impaired... at least it does for me

Actually Paeng was helpful enough to point something out to me that changed completely how I lot, I never saw this in any of the tutorials I came across so I'll share it here just in case it's helpful. If you select an item and pull it with the mouse as far as you can out of the bounding box (that's the area where all your tiles occupy) then let go of the mouse. Use either Up, Down, Left, Right to move the item 1 pixel at a time, or hold shift whilst doing this to move the item 10 pixels at a time. 8 moves with Shift held down covers exactly half a tile, which is exactly how far the object when dragged as far as it can go will be off centre. So for example you drag the item to the bottom left, pressing SHIFT+UP 8 times, then SHIFT+RIGHT 8 times will put the item exactly on the Bottom Left edge of the lot. Using this technique is a must to really line things up properly, and you can do it in PIM-X too.

@ CahosRahneVeloza: If you are happy with what's out there then fair enough, I understand. It's just that modding is the key to really personalising your game so I am certainly someone who will always champion the idea.
