I hadn't seen this around, and thought I'd create a thread for people to show off their new or changed avatars since there are threads more or less similar to this.

 

Just changed mine, but it wasn't so much a change, but more a tweak to be on par with this year's element details from Ben's periodic table of elements

I used to have a crude drawing of myself as a canine pirate. Now a somewhat more human one by myself. I remember back in around 2002 creating my first animated avatar for another site. Reckon ill stick with this one.

All my avatars are fan made pictures of my favorite anime characters. Definitely not posting my face, no offense to those who have their face as profile images, just not my cup of tea.

I change my avatars every 18th day of the month since I changed my username to Tonraq. I've had so much that I could not remember what I had.

Pics later, first a small info about my avatars:

April: Naoe Kanetsugu, who wears the helmet of Love.

March: Lu Bu, a famous Chinese General. Used him on my last CJ update. (April 1 was a red version of Lu Bu)

February: Tonraq, my namesake (self-created, btw), character from the Legend of Korra.

January: Tonraq

December: Tonraq in a snowmobile.

December: Tonraq and Philippine flag.

November: Aangry. Aang is from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I had other ones, including a gif that I would rather not talk about, a pikachu, Fire Lord Ozai, Tenzin shaking his head, a Sokka GIF and a stamp. That's about all of it

My avatar has been this all year, so I changed at Christmas.  I haven't had many, but they have all been Mr Saturn.  As far as I'm concerned, it'll always be Mr Saturn.

I've had quite some different avatars in the past, ranging from SC4 screenshots to an avatar from Spore, but quite a few of them are lost now. I got this one for a while back in 2009 IIRC:

And during the iAvatar craze, I made the iWay-avatar (using the European highway symbol):

There was also a time during 2012 and 2013 where I did change my avatar more frequent, but the theme remained the same: brony-style!

I have my current one since June 2013, but I only changed it during the holidays to the Holiday-avatar:

So I've been through quite some avatars. But I can assure you: Headbang Pony is here to stay!

All I remember that I was using cats avatar (and I never want to wear it again), and recently 4 rally cars

@jmsepe - Yeah pretty much, but you'd have to create the animation first through a group of pictures that depict slight movements. It's a real pain to do

 

 

The avatar just above is a small picture of the Litusian Union flag from my defunct CJ 3N [Formerly Federated States of Llithustania] I had next to no recollection of that avatars I used before 2011.  2009-10 is pretty much unrecorded in terms of avatar usage, and that I lost all my pictures of Llithustania in a broken External HDD I bought, along with an arrray of avatars and other City Journal pics I had. All in all, the frequency in avatar changes mostly picked up in 2013 when I had a variety of element avatars with different looks.

On my 6 years of activity on this site, I have changed my avatar very, very few times. I began with one of the predefined avatars on ST5; I think I have no pics of it.

 

My first personalized avatar looked like this. With it, what I consider now a kind of logo of myself on ST was born  . As I said in other threads, Telefónica Tower represents where I come from, where I am from, the era I was born in, the Zeitgeist of the era I have had to live, and obviously one of Calatrava's masterpieces.

 

 

I changed it just a little bit when the shift to ST7 was inminent:

 

 

On the meantime, Benedict released his Trixies Periodical Table, and there was a bit of a craze in the community to change the avatars to his symbols. I did back then for a while:

 

 

Finally, when the ST was reborn on its 7th rendition, I considered it was time for an upgrade, but never losing the tower. That's the avatar on its current state.

 

And finally, the publicly unseen commie-styled avatar. I have to confess I really like how it looks with that red color:

One of the ways is to use a GIF editor that has animations.  Most of them do.

 

Another approach is to make it in layers in photo suite or the GIMP, and export it as a GIF.  Each layer becomes a frame.

You don't need a bit pad, just a mouse and great patience with high magnification.  Try the GIMP.

I change my avatar quite a lot as I get tired of seeing the same thing all the time. i do the same on my FB as well as my backgrounds on my cell phone which is my desktop..lol.

I've changed my avatar a pretty good amount since I first joined in 2009. Previous ones I have had(In no particular order) include:

     Windows Media Player visualizer Skins

     Images of various landmarks such as the Sundial Bridge and the Parthenon(After I visited Greece in 2012)

     The dollyllama cheat used on the power adviser when he was upset and turned into a gif(A lot of people loved that one)

     Gifs spelling my username, or my username simply as text

     Close-up shots of various SimCity objects or cities, like my current one(A Dubai-styled city built in 3k)

And there's many more, many of which I do not remember. If I have time, i might compile as many onto an image and post them here later....

I can't particularly remember how many times I have changed my avatar but I believe I have three avatars since I joined this site. All of them taken from Kuroko no Basket and all of them have a reason why I chose them so go figure it out. 

 

From 2013-2014 (usually more into the times where I was still inactive)

I myself have never had much a chance with creating animations. Especially if you're doing it by hand on a computer. It just tends to be easier on a tablet, since you have the freedom to actually use your hand and draw it to your liking. Drawing it on a computer just seems like a pain for me, but I've never really been that much of an artist on computer, unless you're talking about digital art on PS [more on photo manipulation and 3d generated graphics]. I'm one of those "I can sketch awesome stuff on paper and tablets" kind of people.

When I first joined the site, I used one of the default SC4 avatars, the utilities advisor with the red,nbecause that struck me as funny at the time. Then recently I had Ike from Radiant Dawn with a Satuen attached to his sword. Yay, glitches.
