BTW, if you try to zone farms like this, the simply do not develop for some reason.

The arrows may not show up if you have the old verson of sc4 too! 1.gif

I would add one suggestion for realism: PARKING LOTS!

Nothing makes a zoned lot look more realistic than ample parking, and should always be included---especially around commercial and industrial lots. Cars take up a lot of space in real life, and should therefore take up a lot of space in everyone's SC4 cities (if realism is their goal).

    Again, good work with this!quote>

This thread has inspired me to begin experimenting with industrial zones.  I am only beginning and so far my results are mixed, but I did find a really interestin lot pack that adds parking to industrial zones.  Try these, https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=12277 .

Thanks! It should have been so obvious, but i didn`t think of it in years of playing. I think I'll have to redesign all my industrial zones.

Hey, I'm really trying to make this work as I've done all of the neccesary actions and yet it still fails to show the arrows. I've installed all of the updates for the original sim city 4 game. Does anyone know if I need the Rush Hour expansion to make this work? Cheers

Having trouble with this as well. Is Rush Hour required?

It won't work for me either, I have Rush Hour and all the patches, and it still doesn't work...

    EDIT:

Never mind, I got it to work. 44.gif

I'm sorry to bump this tutorial, but the pictures in the original post aren't loading here, and I've tried different computers. Anyone know what happened to them? They were loading up fine a few days ago.

First I believe you must use the control key, and if there is another road that the zone can line up with, then press control + alt and that should change the direction the zone faces.  All of this while clicking and hold the mouse to zone desired area.

    My Mistake... I know now....

You have to hold CTRL and the arrows dont appear while you drag it... only when you leave go of the mouse button. Slightly annoying because when zoning on a corner you have to sorta guess which way its going to face. If you want it to face another way hold CTRL and ALT when you leave go of the mouse button.

Also, if you drag a huge 50x50 area then hold control as you release, that 50x50 area will be ONE SINGLE lot as opposed to lots of smaller ones. You have to zone all the individual lots separately!

Now I've figured it, its amazing!

Firstly I'd like to say g'day to everyone, I've been using this forum for a while but only just decided to join.

    I'll get to the point...

I've been having great difficulty Parcelling my industrial zones! I've tried everything, is this what I do?: > Select an Industrial (yellow) zone IM or IHT > Find where you want to place it > Hold CTRL > then Click and Drag across the screen to a size (2x3) etc > Let go of the left mouse button...?

That's what I've been doing, I've tried numerous different combinations; Button combinations, different methods etc and it just wont work, all that happens is what usually happens with the Industrial zoning (it turns into single squares). I did find however that the ALT function works with Residential and Commercial, which gives me some hope.

I've got the AUS patch (the latest) one, i dont have the Deluxe version just the standard.

It's very frustrating for me as you could probably understand and I haven't been able to play the game for approx. 3 days now because I'm at a stage where I want to start developing more IM & IHT and I just can't.

    Please HELP!!!

Cheers fellas, I hope to hear from someone soon

I haven't done this in a while but I think you have to press ctrl after you started the left click then don't let go of ctrl until you've let go of the left click
