Forgot one very important point

Maxis MUST allow us to create more than one entrance point from the regional highway,

this situation is one of the main factor that we have such horrendous traffic,

NO CITY EVER had just ONE point of entry!

This is causing such bottlenecks that in some of my cities it renders several services totally
ineffective, like trash (which in turn affects health), recycling, police and anything that rely on traffic fluidity,
as for the fire dept. I use only helicopters so it's OK but it's a totally unrealistic workaround.

This is completely and utterly UNACCEPTABLE.

I would love to see some ploppables like a pub and a brewery.  The brewery could be an great source of industrial jobs, and tax revenue.  Then after they punch out, the workers would go next door to the pub and drink what they spent all day making.

The new regions keep this in mind - I especially like one of the jungle maps where the middle spot has three highway connections.  I've always tried to keep myself to city spaces where the road cuts through, not simply stopping dead as if the highway planners ran out of cash.

I agree, but in the meantime it just look like the game designers at Maxis ran out of common sense...

Good topic.

1. Cities connection, I.E. The ability to connect ALL cities in a region, either they are connected off the bat, or we have the ability to connect them ourselves. Wich would have several benefits.

a. Ability to gift to ANY cities on the region map

b. Great works usable by ALL cities on the region map

-John

This is something I've been thinking about as well.  Expanding play at the region level.  My thought was to have a region map have layers just like a city map, where you can see the natual resources of the region.  There would be no initial connections.  Players could set up their city plot anywhere on the map.  Inside a city, there can be a mechanism to feed back to the region in the form of a tax or a gift.  A regional mayor (governor)?) would then use these resources/funds to setup a second city, then road/rail/ferry connections, etc.  Road building and rail building would be exactly like in city mode, allowing a regional mayor to setup multiple connections between cities where ever and however they want them to look.

There would need to be some additional rules.  The who gets to be mayor would need to be determined (predetermined/vote/etc.).  There could also be some eminent domain issues (Regional mayor would like this highway to go through your city.

I love the ideas about the "minor works" and moving the plots for cities, but what would really help for road design, and especially make-shift city highways, are road lane-mergings. One-way roads would supplement this quite a bit, and that should give us lots to tinker with.

I fairly sure that GlassBox's engine can handle all of that.

-City Specializations - Would be nice to see a Media specialization, gas (plus natural gas resources), pharmaceuticals, and possibly a food/beverages industry (not necessarily farms, but food processing).

-Fix bugs in CoT - There is a lot of unusual behaviour in the towers and the movement of agents in and out of the towers, and within and between the towers is not particularly intuitive (Examples echoed by others on this forum include people wanting work when there are available jobs in the city and within the same tower, wanting shopping when there is a shopping mall within the same tower, not accessing education/safety etc. in adjacent towers via SkyBridge, etc.). The sewage sanitizer doesn't produce much water (the same quantity of sewage leads to far more groundwater and water capacity with traditional sewage treatment), Omega Co. pods and pipelines don't work as they should (e.g. if I make a joint pipeline from one factory to a resource, and just hook the second factory pipeline up to the main one, only the original factory receives the resource, ie. the second factory has to have it's own dedicated pipeline to the resource).

-One way roads and roundabouts.

-Sale of utilities and services to other cities to show up in the budget ledger as a positive cashflow (green) for those that are not traffic dependent (e.g. power, water, sewage, etc.).

For me, I think:

  • The hotels issue seems to be fixed for me. I now have a cambling/tourist city with lots of normal shops that haven't turned into hotels...
  • RCI is fine. Works well. I actually like the new method better. Its more fluid.
  • Transport works great for me now.
  • Several city plots have multiple region entrances, which I like.

So I'd like to see:

  1. Megatower bugs fixed. Malls seem particularly odd. Maybe I'm missing something...
  2. New interesting regions
  3. Mac performance improved. It really does seem to underperform on my Mac in OSX compared to windows (vis Bootcamp)

It would be nice to be able to move a structure to another spot for a while until we reorganise the space.

Then we relocate it somewhere else. We could avoid destruction and rebuilding.

I tried that while playing the game Anno online.

It helps a lot in redesigning the city.

An "undo" feature.  Just give us a minute or even 30 seconds to undo our last action.  Plopping a water plant in the wrong spot puts you 44,000 out, and you can't reload.

That also could be an interesting option...

I always fancied a 'placeholder' option. Like hold CTR and plopping a building plops a free non-functional transparent version of it that allows you to build around it.

I like everything on the list. Here's a few of my own I'd like to see.

1. A more intuitive road tool with improved snapping and better spacing.

2. Mod tools! Let's face it, the fans were always better at creating SC content than Maxis. Maybe coz it's done for love and not money? (no offense Maxis, I still love you)

3. Fix Megatowers please.

4. More future parks and other plopables. The current selection is shamefully limited.

5. Futurization of existing plopables such as police stations, schools etc.

6. Round parks! I mean seriously, we can perfect circle roads but only fill them with square parks? Make some round ones please.

7. Most important, I'd like to see ti released before Christmas.  :D
