And riots as a disaster of course riots. You know i can run my city brutally with no police and no education and no healthcare and my specialization keeps making money. Riots are a part of urban history they need to be a disaster. Even nice cities have riots you know like Seattle. So why is it not a disaster? and i hated it in SimCity 4 that we didn't have the ability to trigger riots.

Definitely true. Something that needs to be added to the game. Unfortunately, I cannot edit the poll. Too many options :(

What I expect is some regional commuting updates and that's also what I want to see so that's great. I've also heard some rumors about one-way streets and metro stations so throw these in and I'll love it!

I'm more curious what Maxis is intending for the future. Are they going for another EP? If so, I'd like to see them expand upon the regional play more and try to create a way for an entire region to be buildable and create this metropolis feeling the game is still missing.

That would be nice. Put the undersized tiles beside each other, and I'd be in.

I also hope that the bugs introduced in Patch 8.0 (particularly the education and tech bugs) are fixed.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I don't have an idea of what kind of EP they would do but it would be cool :D

I haven't experienced any new bugs yet.

For my 'other' I would like to see more of a creative upgrading system of Town/City halls. The visible difference between the Town Hall and the first City Hall is good, but i would like to see something like that for the other upgrades.

Also, I would like hotels to pop up more often. I built cinquentinne arch but it took around 3 sim months for the first hotel to be built.

Thirdly, I would like to bring back the ability to see the number of occupants inside RCI buildings. Number of residents and workers, you know.

Finailly, a more realistic transit system. Building a ferry station, it quickly said that it was overcrowded with ferry riders. Since it's a ferry, why should a 200min+ wait be in the red? There's no way to improve it.

There's the things I want for 9.0. Thanks for looking at it. May all your cities be great! :thumb:  :)  :)

You can. It's in the Gift menu in region-view. I used it to help a trade city develop quicker and as a more reliable way of sending gifts before the latest patch.

I'd like to see all of these features some time in the future.

Anything else you want to add?

Most have been mentioned in this thread, but I think we should be able to place a train station on a road, instead of placing it on a railway track. Sort of like in the first gameplay strategy video from a year ago.

I thought there was a mod for that, but I'm not entirely sure :) but that would be good for my cities.

I would like to see graphical data in a time line like the old simcity. In that way I had the chance to measure even the little changes in my city reflecting on the different kinds of data: traffic jam, health, demography, pollution etc. In that way I was able to define my own missions and it was much more fun to experiment.

I voted for, ploppable hotels, more specializations, more regions, one-way roads, and spaces filled it (I like the minor works idea the best).

I tried to make a mod for ploppable hotels by taking them out of their casino menu and placing them in the regular gambling menu, but when I selected them in the game no plop points appeared for them along the roads and I don't know how to add plop points to them or if that would even work if I did add plop points for them.

From what I seen about megatowers, I think the minor works should be built the same way, but outside the city and horizontally, instead of vertically.  Also if our city is 2x2 squares the minor works should be 1x1 squares.  I'm sure they could use the same system as the megatower building system for this with a few alterations.

    My other vote is for:

I'd like to see the education bug fixed.  I built a university and had it fully upgraded and had 3 libraries around the city.  I was barely getting one education level.  Also after all that the electronic specialization was still not unlocked because I didn't have 5 medium tech industries although I had more than 5 high tech industries, so I shut down university and placed 2 community colleges with 1 extension wing and bulldozed all current industry to try to get the 5 medium tech industries.  After a few hours (in real life) I finally got them and it was unlocked.

I'd also like to see the route tool from SimCity4 that lets you see the routes of the people and which mass transits they used to get to or from certain buildings or roads added to this game.  But that would require that the sims in the city to keep their same jobs, same homes, and take the same routes every day unless something happened to one of those three things.

I thought of a new thing I really want to see in the next patch: MagLev region connections.  If you've used them you know they are the only mass transit system you need so I'd like to be able to connet my MagLevs to other cities.  If they do allow this in future patches they will probably be included in new region maps.

And as far as region maps go, I like the ones they have, but I'd like either a random region map generator or a region map editor at least.

    This would be cool.

I also would like them to raise the number of  Megatowers you can have in your town or abolish the maximium all together.

It would be nice if they brought back the other arcos from Simcity 2000 and made all the city owned buildings update to a futurstic version.

It's just sad that city owned buildings including City Hall and parks have no future verisons at all.

After tinkering around in Sandbox the past few days to come up with a nice design for a new city I really wished there was a button in Sandbox with the option "Reset city to default". After a build and a 0% tax simulation sometimes the design doesn't work out or look any good and I don't want to crash the region...

To see the population living in a building it is possible to go into the population tab and see the number of residents living in the buildings. But it doesn't show the maximum capacity, which is really annoying!

Also, train stations should be upgrade-able for more capacity.

For the single plopped trees along roads, there should be an ability to plot along the entire length of the road by shift clicking while the tree is selected.

For one way roads, there should be a low, medium, and high density option. The low dense would be two lanes, the medium would be 3 lanes and the high dense would be 4 lanes. They should easily connect with avenue stubs to make transitions like simcity 4.

Intersections should be allowed on bridges and tunnels, which must be a pain to program, but they would make for awesome and efficient cities.

The underground view is tricky as if you are building in a seaside city, it is impossible to build tunnels, which becomes really annoying, so tunnels should be allowed to go through water.

If you would like to build "one way roads" use roads and place them side by side. But make sure that there is enough space for a connection in between. Drag them out from a interchange or road and they work really well. You can even plot those little forest in the middle to create a median!

A little love for the bridge between CoT cities and non-expansion cities.  Even if you have the expansion set, you may still want to build a city along the old ways.  I'm building transport and its connecting to no other cities because people aren't building bus/train.

    Good topic.

    1. Cities connection, I.E. The ability to connect ALL cities in a region, either they are connected off the bat, or we have the ability to connect them ourselves. Wich would have several benefits.

    a. Ability to gift to ANY cities on the region map

    b. Great works usable by ALL cities on the region map

    2. Bigger maps of course (flogging a dead horse here)

    3. Repair idiocies, I.E. Cannot unlock the processor factory if you exceed the requirements (I only have HIGH tech industries so I can't unlock it because the game requires MID tech industries, so they PENALISE you for being too good!!!

    4. One way streets

    5. Repair the TRASH/RECYCLING bug where the trash/recycling map is not on par with the numbers (I.E. in several of my NEW cities, the map shows no more trash to be collected, where the numbers says otherwise)

    6. Parks that we can plop WHERE we want (no need to snap to street/roads/avenues so we can fill those between sectors holes

    7. Ability to plop Homeless centers, like in real life so we can help them and return them to the workers pool.

    8. Ability to remove some options like Dr. Vu and Maxis Man (never used them and don't want to EVER use them)

I could go forever I think, but for the time being let's go with those  YMMV

I thought of something else to add to CoT.  An advanced airport.  We have VTOL now that can fly into the city and land without a runway so why can't we transport sims this way too.  Although this sounds a lot like blimps so make it a crown or an add on to the airport or have it replace the runways because not everyone has the blimp DLC and uses it.  I like what someone said in the topic about rotating the lots ().  They said that the airport should only come with the terminal and have us place the runways later or the VTOL transportation instead(if they make that available).  I thought a region connection transportation crown would help the sims in towers commute to other cities better because they wouldn't even have to go outside a megatower to get to work while working in another city, since they are lazy.

ADDED: I thought about this on my way home and didn't want to use another post when I'm the last one to post to this topic. Anyways, I'd also like to see more information about the RCI in my cities.  In the megatowers it shows how many workers there are for offices, what the profit of the malls are, and how many people are living in each house and I'd like to see these stats for every building not just megatower levels.  For industry it can show jobs and how much freight it has and how much it sells.  For commercial add a bar to that shows how much freight it's receiving and show the jobs and profits.  For residential just show how many people are living there.

A low income park strip to help measure out road widths!  We have a strip of trees for $$ and a long plaza for $$$, but not a simple $ one.

If you turn off disasters you can use the houses of worship as free measuring tool right?

I approve of Darmok's points about regional play. I am mostly curious now if Maxis will improve upon that aspect.

The ability to filter out sandbox games from the open game listing.

Filtering for "Newly created games with active players" would be nice, too.

The only filters we have are for "Sandbox games" and "abandoned cities".  How useful.  :meh:

You forgot to add bigger maps to the poll.

As you probably know, Maxis/EA announced that they won't be doing bigger maps due to the game running slower or not working as well on some devices.

Also, in case anyone is interested, SimCityDefined 's poll covers this exact topic (on the forums page), and so far, the highest vote count is 46 for one-way roads :)

    REAL planning mode

Here's something I would love to see implemented.

    Could go like this :

An overlay map on which we could draw AND MEASURE and AT NO COST the road layout of our city. Then when we have the necessary funds we can then chose from that layout the section we want to be created and commit them to the "real" city and then pay for it. But at least we could really plan our city and not pay the full price only to measure with tree row or house of worship or whatever workaround we found!

Sounds cool, I'd vote for this to be added to the game.  I could see it looking like a ghost white color (meaning it's also see through) and you use the upgrade road tool to make it solid into any density road.  By the way, I've found that I can get two city lengths of avenue and all the rest of the grids I need with just dirt roads if I don't have to build bridges or tunnels, but I also don't have any money left for utilities.

As an added idea this could also be a way to build buildings without roads.  All Academy technology don't need roads anyways because the people working at them are sitting behind a computer in the Academy or an extension to the academy controlling the buildings remotely (otherwise known as ControlNet).  Just have the electricity and water flow through these ghost roads.
