Hello, SimCity players and welcome to:

Patch/Update 9.0: What Do You Want To See?

If you took part of my first thread, which is another thread in which you will find deeper in the forums, you know the routine. Just check what you want in the poll and if you check "Other", please make a reply and tell everyone what you would like in the game. I may even add it :D

So get voting!

****Note: Let me know if there is an error involving my post or the poll. Thanks!

I want the same things that I wanted for 8.0 I still want to see "minor works" to fill the gaps between cities as modules for the individual city.

I would like to see the ability to build suburbs as a residential resource, industrial estates for industry and office parks for commerce etc.

Furthermore if you could build a utilities module for the city that the provides power, water and sewage requirements for the city that would be grand.

This could allow you to customise the city borders and areas surrounding the city tiles to give a sense of a sprawling metropolis whilst maintaining the 2km city tile restriction.

Also I think (with no technical knowledge or understanding I should stress) this may be a little easier on the simulation as each city module would only have a set number of agents going in or out. If you take away the ability to manually lay road for the modules the designers can control the system requirements whilst giving us something that we want (or the illusion of) creating a huge sprawling city that isn't jammed into an unrealistic 2x2 box.

The only issue would be creating a road to connect the module to the city.

2 cents done. Pipe dream released upon the world!

That sounds like a good idea, but I don't think it would save that much space for zoning and roads and whatnot :)

That sounds cool. I'd kinda want something like that, except really it just lets me save on my own without it autosaving, cause if I mess up something I'll have to blow money to fix it :D good idea.

Ploppable hotels sound good - i'm glad now they are supposed to spawn near tourist sites.  I always got annoyed when the sims complained about a lack of hotels when I had absolutely no control over the matter.

It is better but it would be good if they were on another tab on the attraction specialisation to make life a bit easier.

Well, it always took forever for me just to get one hotel in my tourist city because the hotels take forever to get built.

I'd like to see all of these features some time in the future.

Anything else you want to add?

    More city specializations

It would renew the game, because as of now, there is not much things left to do

    More Ways In/Out

I haven't tried the new maps, but I think it would help regulate traffic

    More Transportations Options

Maps are too small for subways, but monorail would be great

    Ability to create higher-numbered intersections

    One-way roads

It's a difficult system to implement, but it would greatly improve traffic management.

    More civic

Maybe a Tier II civic for Fire/Police/Health

    Agriculture

A new specialization to renew the game

    Space filled

Just for esthetic purposes. If you put the cities closer together, I don't even want to imagine the deadlock on the highway

    Other

If I play on city A, I would like to have the possibility to send fire trucks from the city B to help city A without having to load city B.

Well, from what it sounds like, an offline mode will be produced :) and what other kind of roundabout could you mean?

a functional one :) I mean you can dra a circular road and connect 4 roads to that, but then you have 4 intersections instead of 1 if it was a real roundabout

and it sounded like larger maps were coming too. "We are looking into larger maps" (no news for a while) "We looked into it, and decided its not going to happen. Now we are looking into offline mode"

More RCI Choices (Like in SimCity 4)

    - We need more control in this game on where we want to put our $ $$ $$$, Co Cs, I-D I-M I-HT.

    More city specializations

    - Even though COT two new ones (OmegaCo, Academy). And this in turn should be in junction of introducing more Resources (see below) for the game.

    More building designs

    - Hopefully something as diverse like SC4 did and not the one type building for R and C that the three City Sets did. (I have one of three and I assumed that the other two behaves the same)

    City population more realistic

    - Although I'm starting to like those big numbers, back then I really want to see the actual numbers. So yeah.

    Agriculture

    - Just like in SC4, it will fit the Specialization role nicely

Space filled in between city plots

    - Someone on the official forum back then came up with a nice idea on how the empty spaces can be filled up. He even had a map graph like visual aid to show that. Iirc, whatever you build the most in your city will spawn the same things on the empty lots.

    Other (please specify in post/reply)

We need more of the following

    - Great Works. Although I haven't fully utilized the first four no thanks to poor syncing, they're getting old pretty quick too and the game isn't even a year old.

    - Resources, when I saw the first set of Resources in the game I thought those are pretty small choices that it isn't enough to really feel the Global Market part of the game. Not that I want the Global Market be more emphasized in the game, I just want more Resources/products to tinker around with :D

    - Give the Resources a secondary purpose other than being a boring renamed cash cow, let Sims consume and demand TV's, processors, food (from Agriculture if ever!) etc.  Right now I just feel like I'm just sending stuff to that imaginary place called Simnation that might be Order of Nations in disguise o.O

    - Let the players truly buy and sell Resources, Utilities and Services with their neighboring cities. The current way the game handles these are pretty lame: I gift you junk, I leech your Utilities, click the check box if you want X Utility to sell to neighbor cities. What's the point of notifying the player that X city needs Y Resource and Z Utility if I can't sell my assets to those demands?

    - I dunno if this will work but I'd like to see the Municipal Airport as another "Transportation connection" to your neighboring cities just like the rest of the Transportation out there and not just some Tourist spawner. I kinda wondered why that Airport didn't do that when I used it. I can only guess that from a realistic point of view that your typical R$$ R$$$ don't use them that often?

I dunno how will Glassbox will handle those ideas or if its anywhere near capable of doing it. But I'm more than happy to kick and stomp it to the ground just to make it work

I think there's a good news about Terraforming btw, just wait for Maxis to release that Dev interview of theirs.

I would love to see Regional Minor Works to fill in the space between cities. They could hold farms, reservoirs, forests, regional parks (State Parks), landfills, tree plantations, and possibly others.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Lot of stuff for other :D all good stuff there. I always thought the municipal airport was sort of a commercial spawner or whatever, because whenever I placed one my commercial buildings all uped in Density, no matter how far away they were.

I want to see the regional minor works, as well as the ability to upgrade your city's highway connection. It might make sense to just have one ramp off the highway when you are a podunk town of 500 people, but a major city should be able to have a beltway circling the plot with entrances on all sides. One-way networks would be great as well and improve possibilities for urban expressways (right now you still have problems with people turning against the intended flow of traffic because of open intersections).

I also want to see some real use for resources in the game's regular economy; right now it seems like there's not much to drive demand. Fuel especially doesn't really have any purpose for existence. It would be nice if, for example, fuel prices were tied to the number of cars driven in each city in each region on the server, so that auto-dependent regions would have the effect of raising fuel prices. Moreover, fuel would be incorporated into the local economy by requiring Sims to spend a certain chunk of their money on it if they drive to work or shop, as well as reducing the profit margins of shops that receive freight from other cities (cost of long haul shipping). Money spent on fuel would then be unavailable for shopping, thereby having the indirect effect of lowering happiness. When fuel is cheap, the effect would be hardly noticeable, but a spike in prices would squeeze Sims' budgets, and leave poorer Sims with virtually nothing left over for shopping. It would also be nice if Sims' preference for public transportation were affected by fuel prices, so that cheap fuel encourages driving, but expensive fuel would encourage Sims to try to take transit in a greater variety of cases.

I hate not having subways ever since the beta and I accepted I would never see them in game. The things I really want to so (sadly forgot to tick the box):

    - A(n) (expendable) museum. Expandable with wings when upgrading. Preferably with the plot size of a High School so it can fit in better than those churchers that are a bit bigger than a normal square block.

    - A zoo. I know a zoo is perfect DLC material, but it would've been so nice if I could drop a Zoo in the central of my Tourist city. Many European cities have Zoo's in city center and I hate missing them.

    - More European landmarks.

What also would've been nice if the city plots would've ruins and land marks of their own showing i.e. older castles and having some feeling of not touching virgin lands every time playing.

City plots closer together with multiple connections with Agriculture and new specializations, like nat gas, and LNG and machinery manufacturing.

And of course one-way roads 36 votes for one way roads which would give us the ability (hopefully) to make on ramps and off ramps for interchanges.

Overall the game continues to get better its like Maxis couldn't give us everything we wanted at once, maybe it would have created too much euphoria.

And of course offer larger map sizes for those with computers that can handle it. This game is just too good. I'm playing it again and again.

You should be glad that it allows only three landmarks. Some of them are so huge that I can't even find any space to place one in the tiny plots that they have given us.

Yeah, but the ones I CAN fit I can't plop cause we're only allowed three per city.

What also would've been nice if the city plots would've ruins and land marks of their own showing i.e. older castles and having some feeling of not touching virgin lands every time playing.

You know what I really hate about the landmarks? The fact that you can only plop three in your city :D that really bugs me.

And you can only run one disaster at a time XD

I guess the limitation had to do with its Tourist Specialization part or that its another Glassbox limitation thing :/

It is good that they have given us an option to turn off the disasters completely in the latest update but I like to have an option to turn off the ones that I want.

Haha :) that'd DEFINITELY be cool. Have a lizard run through your city while another part gets destroyed by a tornado xD

Yeah :) maybe they'll release something like that in the future

And riots as a disaster of course riots. You know i can run my city brutally with no police and no education and no healthcare and my specialization keeps making money. Riots are a part of urban history they need to be a disaster. Even nice cities have riots you know like Seattle. So why is it not a disaster? and i hated it in SimCity 4 that we didn't have the ability to trigger riots.
