Swamper: Actually, the sounds aren't stored in the AB file. Just like every other sound, they are XA files in sound.dat. The .abk files only connect driving parameters to their respective sounds.

All you'd need to do would be to find the proper XA files and replace them. You'd just have to comb through them all. Oh, wait - try checking the IIDs referenced in the Ambulance's SFX properties.

I use the Grass beach in my Chicago. If I need a sandy/mud beach, I just use a set of sand/dirt tiles that I made easily in the LE.

As for the breakwaters - I thought they were replacing those with seawalls, made a hell of a racket at Montrose Harbor - there are some Japanese breakwater lots you might find useful.

I'd like to see a mod that forces plopables to go through the build animation and during construction have it's abilities suspended until completion. To make this mod possible, it may just be a matter of figuring out why the airport goes through the construction queue and applying that knowledge to the other plopables.

I've got a request.  We've seen a lot of W2W commercial and residential buildings, and some W2W civic (such as educational buildings and some transportation) but, and perhaps this request should go in the BAT request section (actually, I posted it in both), might it be possible for someone to either create in BAT or mod some existing W2W buildings so that they were police, fire, health, and any other civic buildings?  I've had a problem of continuity in the European cities I've built because I have built neighborhoods of residential and commercial W2W, but when I go to build my civic buildings, they lose the W2W look. 

 
Having never been to Europe, I don't know if the hospitals (or clinics) and fire and police departments are in the W2W style (in the same way that their com and res are) but I know in Chicago that the police stations and fire stations are in the W2W style (and there's actually a Chicago-style FD on the STEX), so perhaps they are similar in Europe.
 
Either way, I would appreciate if someone could, like I said, BAT or mod some W2W civic buildings so that there was continuity throughout an entire city, not just the majority of places.

How about a mod that makes fires stronger, or buildings more flammable? iIm building San Francisco, from the gold rush to the present day and i have no clue how im going to simulate the 1906 earthquake and fire11.gif(btw... ive seen the flammability thing in the make your own mod thread, but afaik, ilive reader isn't mac compatible and i don't have virtual pc) So, is it possible to do in a traditional mod?9.gif

Hello everyone. I only recently started downloading mods over the last month and man I had no idea what I was missing. I can't ever go back to vanila Sim City now. I very much appreicate all the work everyones done to make Sim City into an even better game.
 
Anyway, I do have a transit lot request. One thing that has irked me is monorail stations. The region that I'm building has an extensive monorail network and I have downloaded some better monorail stations to replace the original game one which has cured me of the annoyance of having the monorail line taking up valuable commercial space directly alongside major roads (at least in my regions newer areas since it's too destructive to realign the grid in older areas).
 
However, one thing is lacking and that's an intersection station. The way real transit rail systems tend to work, in my limited experience, is that if you're switching from one line to another (North-South to East-West or viceversa) you get off in an intersection station and go up or down a level to get to trains on the other line (I'm thinking Spadina station for any Torontoians out there). Sim City doesn't allow this.  What I would like is for a monorail station to fit over top of the intersection to represent this commuter hub. Say over one of these.

It's probably difficult to do since it involves transit paths, but if someone who knew how took up the project and made a snazzy version of it that was also a bus station I would definitely download it. It would be nice to not imagine either A. my city has an utterly complex system involving many trains randomly switching lines (the game's reality which is nonsense) or B. people get off and shuttle bus it to a station on the other line.

Hello. I was wondering if it is possible to make the road traffic not disapear so much. It would be good if it drove right down the road or off the screen instead of 2 tiles etc. I have the NAM mod, but it doen't fix this for me. I have removed all other Transport mods. Grall

I would like to see a modd that would change the visual look of roads, streets,etc. For example cobble stone, brick roads, like the ones you would see in small european towns. That would be helpful

Here's an interesting idea.  Can a mod be made what will replace the U-Drive-It key commands with gamepad actions?  I would like driving cars and flying copters better if I could use the gamepad instead of the keyboard.

A few requests no one has made yet: #1 - A yard for piggyback trains - Trailer On FlatCar / Container On FlatCar, coplete with gantry crane and road access (like an old-style Team Track to fellow trainheads).
#2 - A train mod depicting several types of piggyback trains: Trailer On Flat Car, Double-Stack container style, maybe even the less-common Road Railer type.
#3 - It sound simple, so I don't know why no one has done it: A plain gravel (or paved) lot which will flatten the terrain it is on, and make that nice wall if the adjacent terrain is higher (Like most of the park and rail station lots do already). This would look good in rail and highway cuts, at the sides. A lot which does this and allows road construction on it would be even better, but I know the limitations of the game.
#4 - I'm sure this one has been requested, but here goes -- An angled T-Intersection between one-way road and regular road, for use in building of highway on-ramps.
And finally: I hate how difficult making angled roads is in the game. Is there any way of making a mod which would allow you to set two points and draw a road (or rail) between them (at other than basic 45' angle)? Thanks for your patience!

#4 is kind of difficult to understand - could you elaborate?

#5 is impossible - the game doesn't recognize other slope angles.

#4 is asking for a mod that makes it possible for one way roads tor terminate diagonally into a regular road, like so: one way >\ road v
im almost positive that's what they mean, probably should be a NAM request.

I have two ideas. I cannot find proper mods for this:

- Age of biulding in query mod - it's very interesting if we can read this feature
 
- Paved el-rail and monorail networks - dirty grass doesn't look good in urban areas. (maybe puzzles, maybe adding texture, i dont know....)

A paved el-rail piece is easy to make and 5 minutes of work because there are already puzzle pieces for el-rail over streets.

All we have to do is to clone it, to change the base texture (road->pavement) and to remove the car paths from the path files. All I need to know is the instance ID of the standard-pavement texture.

For the monorail system we should wait until there are monorail puzzle pieces in the NAM. There is planned something and I think the NAM developers should open the monorail section there.

It requires GLR version 3 and will be deprecated when the 4th version of the GLR is out. You may download it for testing purposes but it will not be compatible with identical puzzle pieces in future GLR (or NAM) versions.

Though this will take time to make, what I would want to see is a new density for industrial. I heard about a few discoverys that allowed for the creation of new zones, and the first project I would want to see with this new find is a fourth density (Ultra Dense Industrial?) that would be able to build skyscraper industries. It would work just like all the other densities except for Ag; all industrial buildings could be built there, but if the demand got high enough, industrial skyscrapers would start to appear. People would have to do a lot of BATing, and the buildings would have to somehow look different from Commercial ones, but I'm tired of having a region full of skyscrapers with little pockets of 2 story buildings all over the place. (Note: the skyscrapers could only be high-tech industries) I hope my idea is put into action.

I would like to request a mod which sets demand for agriculture at the maximum all the time. I would like to create an entire region of farming and small farming towns, but after a while my agricultural demand goes negative. I tried setting agricultural taxes to zero and that works for a while, but eventually agricultural demand still goes negative. There seems to be a limit to how much agriculture you can have in an entire region (or else I'm just not figuring out how to do this).

Is there (or anywhere) add-on, that allow those transitions: 
Ground rails <-> Subway rails; 
Ground rails <-> Elevated rails;
Ground highway <-> Elevated highway;
Overpasses between Elevated highways and Elevated rails / monorails;
T- & X- Intersections between Elevated and Ground highways.

I have some problems with it. Divide map by 4 with leveled highways and now I can't unite monorails in different parts of map. I can replace all monorails to Elevated rails but it's to do this, I must spend large amount of sim$.

Thank you very much, I have found. But I want to ask a question, is there one mod that allow those transitions mentioned?? Because I do not want to install too much mods, and I want to have a unified style of those transitions......

Just take an example.
Ground to Elevated Transition:
NDEX Ground to Subway Transition:
They have neither unified appearance nor unified property, if I install them together, I would feel not comfortable, and some problems would be arisen......

If your still taking requests for modds, I'll would like to see us having the option of having to choose different season cycle. That is, Winter, Fall, Summer and Spring. and let us control the weather from the God Mode section. I mean have various weather patterns in your city. Rain, wind, snow etc...
Also, I wondered if anyone already had this idea in mind.10.gif

1. Transco Tower (aka - Williams Tower) in Houston, Texas, Galleria Area.
2. Transco Waterwall
3. Houston Galleria (Sections 1, 2, 3 & 4) including both Hotels
4. Town & Country Mall (demolished in 2004)
5. Astrodome / Astroworld
