well, I do use low density residential zoning but either it grows extremly slow (10 game years aprox.) or aprtments grow. I have been trying to build a large city like Los Angeles with mostly suburbs but I sort of can't. I can only grow city's like NYC or Philidelphia or Boston. w/ huge apartment buildings.

I have a request, could someone modd 'kimdomyung's Hyundai Mipo Dock yard to include jobs.

I have been trying to do it for like six hours and either my lot editor or my ilive reader doesn't seem to work. I have the tutorial that was on the omnibus, but isn't now, but I can't seem to get any of the lots to go bigger then 6x6. I would really like to add this into one of my port cities, but without jobs there doesn't seem to be a point

The appartments must be custom content, because I never had that problem. Try checking what the building is, and if it's custom, get rid of it or ask the creator to change its density

I doubt it's possible, but I may be wrong; I'll let you modders decide:

Can y'all make it to where the cars that go through your city don't just appear and disappear a few seconds later?

Also, is it possible to make right turn lanes for roads/one way roads/avenues? I know the left turn lane comes with the NAM, and middle turning lanes have already been modded. I just need those right turn lanes with the yield.

Hi there. I'm new here and new to SC4, so forgive me if this has been requested or not possible.

I want to know if its possible for custom disasters? Or rather, make new monsters. The last Sim game I played was 2000, and I fondly remember the giant robotic eyeball monster. I was wondering if someone could replace the Robot and put in the old monster.

Also, I've noticed that SC4 has no Arcrologies. Is there a download or mod that makes them possible?

I was wondering.. would it be possible for some one to make a mod, so the commute time would go to 0? Im getting so anoyed by sims complaining... and losing jobs

This would wreak havock on pathfinding and and traffic.  Perhaps ironically, because they could travel so far, there would be no restrictions on where they would drive.  You'd have streets that carried 1000s of cars while avenues would only have 1 or 2, and there would be no advantage for sims to take mass transit.

There are mods to speed up the transit times, but they come at the expense of game speed.

Try different things with city design.  If you make a concious effort to separate jobs on sims, it will make all commute times longer.  This gives you more traffic, more commercial desireability (if you funnel all your traffic through a few avenues and highways), and will stop the problem where none of the most central businesses have employment (being that one side of the CBD is not necissarily a longer drive than the other).

Also, make neighborhoods that only have a single road access to a main road (with lots of circles and cul-de-sacs).  This will make all the residents in the area have a similar drive, and not make any areas more desireable than others.

Basically, the more you funnel traffic, the better your city will do.  This will also open oportunities for mass transit.  If you make all your inroads to the city long ways in, you can make straight train/el/subways to get them there faster.  You can also use monorails and get an entire suburb to use a monorail to get to the city with this method.  When you're making 4 or 5x your investment on MT, it frees up a LOT of money elsewhere.  I try to make it my primary (sometimes only) source of income in a city.

Also, make you rich people pay to live near work.  Where ever your downtown is, I usually set Commercial taxes to 0, and this generates so much high wealth jobs that people will pay 12-15% in some cases to live there.  This will drive people to suburbs and long commutes.  When the average commute is much longer than normal, your sims won't leave your city for a medium commute.  It's relative to what the best locations get compared with the worst.  And don't be affraid of slums, if there's an area that won't develop for the rich, lower taxes for the poor and give them nothing (minimal schools and hospitals, bare fire and police, and few busses).  Also, if you keep Dirty industry near the residents while keeping the drives long to get there, you can make a really good slum.  This will keep the poor out of your nice areas where you can jack up taxes across the board.

Hell, I got an idea. A Huge Nuclear Power Plant. That when it explodes, it creates an explosion that covers 2/4 of the map!!

azu: That would be cool, but instead of having a nuclear power plant, we could have it a disaster. Or if its a huge nuclear power plant, we should make it 4 x better, and 2 x deadlyer. (2/4 of the map, 4x will cover the eletricity, and the 2 will cover the disaster, and also will this be a big map? meduim? or small?) i cant make stuff in lot editor because i have a mac, but i could help the maker of this make it better by suggestions.

I've searched the STEX and found streets close to what I'm about to request just not exactly what I'm looking for though.

I would like Functional DIRT Streets that work in mayor mode with no border of any kind just the grass look. Please...

Have them behave the same as Streets and cost could be the same as well I guess. Please, Please...

NEW REQUEST (I hope):

Would it be possible to make a mod that enabled a player to "jump" from one city to another without "passing through" the Region map?

I especially miss that when I'm playing eg. a large residential city, and then suddenly run out of power. Then it takes forever to exit the city and get to the electric supply city and then back. I guess anything that might reduce the loading time would be great. I realize that the game would still need time to upgrade all regionwise city information, but still... perhaps...?

I don't think so Zugtroll. But I'm not an expert modder, so I can't say for sure. I think that the code for loading a city would be in the .exe, and we wouldn't be allowed to change it.

But if anyone wants to try, please do!

If someone could do this, I bet it'd be at least as popular as the NAM.

hows about 6x4 lots that give curved highways, like in segments, like a 4x6 90deg to 60deg a 6x6 60deg to 30deg and a 6x4 30deg to 0deg, or overhanging lots, but i dion't think you can majke those transit enabled

Hello, i am this time posting my mod request in this topic, (After i got 2 requests locked and the lockers telling me to post my request in here).

Anyways: Can someone make a mod that makes the tank in simcity 4 invincible to cars and trucks? I mean I'd continually wreck my tank on cars and, well, who's ever heard of a tank that got wrecked by crashing into a car? I mean, wouldn't the tank just crush it?

is it possible to make a mod to make roads or if the size of golden gate even place zones, buildings etc beneath bringes?

hebl......you cant zone or put roads under bridges (its been tried time and time again) but you can put overhanging props there click on my link to underbridge scenery to see some of the ideas ive had......there are a few things kicking around to do this and eventually someday i might actually complete my own..

with what we have, unfortunatly this is not possible... even if it was possible, the system would still have to save one city before you could go to another, so the speed increase wouldn't be all that much.

As the poster above me said, no that's not possible. As things stand, bridges are network items, and you can't put zones on tiles wich already have a network item on them.

Does anyone know of a way to make a modd to control the custom music?? Like changing tracks forward and back....

I know you can run a player in the background, but I'd rather give those resources to the game... Gawd knows it needs them...

I don't know if this has been requested before, so apologies if it has.

Could a mod be made to include the building stage in the RCI query window? Possibly as an expansion to Equinox's RCI Query mod. I have the hardest time guessing what stage my buildings are at.

One thing that is really bugging me in the game at the moment is that you can't place bus stops, subway stations etc under elevated transit lines like monorail and elevated train lines .

Is this easy to fix/alter through modding and is anyone willing to do it for me. I have no idea about modding.

was wondering if there is a way to mod the individual menu items in a way that keeps the menu items under each submenu open while one is working out of it? example: to make the walking parks with all the pieces...i have to click on the parks menu, wait, wait, wait for it to open, then plop a straight sidewalk, then go back and do it over again for a "T" sidewalk, and/or a curve, etc. it would shorten time if the individual menus stayed open like the main menus and submenus do. this would also work w/the modular zoo pack or any modular packs. thx.

I really would like a different zoning mod that makes possible to choose where $, $$ and $$$ houses can grow. What I would like are zones like these:

low density -normal one (both)

low density -$

low density -$$

low density -$$$

mediun density -normal one (both)

mediun density -$

mediun density -$$

mediun density -$$$

high density -normal one (both)

But is it posssible to do it? If yes, could someone do it, please?
