Buuuuuuut, the first Jeep was built just north of me in Butler, PA. No arguments!

And again, time for a number check!

Chrysler as a pure all-American brand died in 1998 when they merged with Daimler, a German company.

Of course, the way things work these days there's basically no such thing as a product that's truly "all-American". Even if it was made in the US by an American company, I guarantee you some of the parts and raw materials used to make it were imported.

And, guess what? A lot of the vehicles Ford and GM sell in the US are assembled in Mexico. Meanwhile, a lot of the vehicles that Toyota and Nissan sell in the US are assembled in the US. Everything is a mixed bag and you never really know what you're getting. Companies are rarely forthcoming about the details of their supply chain unless they think it helps them to market it or some regulation requires them to disclose it.

There are SO MANY Japanese people living in the Detroit area who are employed by the auto industry, not just for the car companies themselves, but for all the suppliers.  Parts come from all over the world, it's nuts to try to pigeonhole a car as being from one country or another based upon the content.  Taking the designs into consideration and there can be little doubt as to the country of origin for most vehicles.  A kei car could be nothing BUT Japanese, and a pickup truck is so American I just belted out the Star Spangled Banner just because I thought about it.

Yeah, the French have had food figured out for a minute. My sister goes to Paris twice a year for her job. I want to go with her and eat crepes while she does her thing. Actually, her "thing" is a cause for envy amongst many. Her job is to go to Paris twice a year for two weeks each and shop. She is to buy items that can be sold back here in the US. Pretty sweet gig. But if I went along I'd just eat crepes and sandwiches au frite. Om nom nom.

When it comes to food I am generally unopen to trying new things and intolerant of deviation from what I am used to. Were I to go to Paris I'd probably go to the most American restaurant I could find and curse it for being an imperfect reproduction of American food.

I've been to Paris, I didn't like it that much. Personally I preferred London.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

I'm really getting tired of the people on GTA online, they wait till you get out of a mission and then run you over with their car.

The very premise of the game is to abuse everyone around you for your amusement. And it surprises you that in a multiplayer mode, players abuse each other for their amusement?

It's been about 50/50 for me. Half of the players want to kill me no matter what, the other half will try to do something else, either ignoring me, stealing/getting in my car, or ramming me/challenging to a race or something.

I'm more team orientated, I want to use other players skills to help advance my ranking and cash, so no I do not find it amusing to say the least when some one rams into my car and starts shooting me while I'm trying to avoid the cops or selling a ride.

Infact they should get suspentions or banned, cause I'm sick of calling the insurence and paying fees, half of what I get from missions is lost to fees and medical bills, how am I supposed to buy stuff when I'm always paying due to player abuse?

Besides people rank up and get attack choppers and tanks and RPGs and mini guns, how can I with just a micro SMG compete?

I hate people and don't want contact with them at all if I'm playing video games.  That said, GTA sounds like fu- No.  No it doesn't.  I would be lying if I said it looked like fun.  God, I'm getting old and stuffy.

You do realize the utter irony here, right? The object of the game is to break the rules, and you're complaining people should be punished for breaking the rules. Basically you're saying people should be punished for playing the game.

The lesson to be learned here is that the stuff you do in GTA may seem fun when you're the one doing it, but it ain't so fun when you're the victim of it, eh?

For this reason the idea of there being an online mode in GTA was just poorly conceived. You can't effectively make a game social when the premise of it revolves around activities that are extremely antisocial.

Getting back to food, the thing with many foods, such as the Philadelphia cheesesteak, are best when you get them where here from. Eg. Never get a Philly Cheesesteak from Boston

I adore London.

When I was in Europe the most recent time (now 13 years ago, aside from my trip to The Republic of Ireland and The United Kingdom in 2008) I had the best time in London. I also noticed that out of the cities I went to (London, Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne, Basel and Florence) the most beautiful women were in Florence. London was a surprisingly close second.

As far as the GTA V discussion goes, I doubt I'll ever have any valid input. Sooner or later I'll find myself at a friend's house and eventually play the game, but I am certainly removed from the hype.

I'd like to visit Europe someday.  Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Italy, and maybe Germany and the UK.  I would very much like to drive an open car on a lightly-traveled road through the British countryside.

I've visited Europe twice. My favourite place is Volendam, followed by Prague and Karlovy Vary :)

And not to forget the historical sites such as the Berlin Wall and Auschwitz. The Wieliczka Salt Mine was also quite a sight to behold. Oh yeah, and Venice's gondolas, with the gondoliers singing to each other

1912: True. But what makes a cheesesteak Philadelphian? I mean, surely if you bought one from a Pennsylvanian in Boston who sources local ingredients, it would be fine?

That being said, each region/country has their own special cuisine, even if it is something as 'unexotic' as America.

By the way I have a challenge for you all. The next time you go to a Cafe, ask for a flat white coffee. See how many people know what it is ;)

A transplant who sources local ingredients is fine (I've had legit New York pizza in San Diego), problem is that outside the native area you usually get a lame immitation, not that.

I too have eaten New York pizza in San Diego. Legit NY pizza. I have also eaten New York pizza in New York City.

Local ingredients make things have the taste they do. You can probably get a legit Philly Cheesesteak in Lancaster or Wilmington (Delaware).

I would love to to to Europe, but I've never really gotten to go anywhere. (Cries :( :()

It isn't antisocial if your doing it to NPCs that don't have feelings and are not real players, besides its always more entertaining to shoot at the cops then other players.

I think the point is that playing against other humans online is mentally somewhat similar to playing against NPCs because you cannot see the faces of the other players, can't see them react to anything, and have no idea who they are.

It seems to be a symptom of the digital age that people don't care about not hurting other people's feelings, they only care about not seeing other people's feelings get hurt. This is why trolls and cyberbullying are such problems. This is why people break up or deliver other bad news via text message or via Facebook. It's all about avoiding having to see the other person's face.

Such is our future. Sad but true.

The Internet gives a false sense of anonymity. People think that nobody can find out who they are, so they give hateful and cruel messages and posts. I think this might affect real world behavior.

It also makes us antisocial. I'm introverted by nature but I don't want to be completely isolated full time. People want to be on Facebook, or Twitter, or whatever all the time instead of being with people, and it has more negative than positive effects.

The thing about internet anonymity is it breaks down the instant the police are looking for you. Most things you do online log your IP address, and with that your ISP can identify you. This stuff isn't publicly available of course, due to privacy issues, but all it takes is one search warrant. Bear this in mind before you brag on Facebook about having committed a crime.
