People in some countries receive extremely lax law enforcement in general, for example the so-called third world countries. It's a double-edged sword; you can mug anyone you like, but you must also constantly protect yourself from being mugged. It's the same for cyber crimes, in the case of lax internet law enforcement. However, it must be pointed out that certain cyber crimes are and ought to be given far more attention than others. To give an example, compare hacking of government websites, credit card fraud, digital piracy and online slander. Which crime do you think would governments devote more time and resources to tackle?

    Not slander, that's for sure.

1923: I agree in part. Cybrrbulling can have serious mental consequences on the victim. Whereas in the old days if you got beaten up and harassed by others at school you could still lock yourself up and retreat to the safety of your bedroom. Not so nowadays. People can access you 24/7 through technology. There is a hole in my wall due to me bursting out in anger because of this, which serves as a reminder of what people can do.

Cyber bulling is one of the the 2 reasons why I in high school isolate myself from people. (The other being dating drama, but that's not the point). I don't want to enter where people can be cruel to you whenever they feel. It's why I'm not on Facebook, Twitter, whatever else is out there. But I would rather be in my own company than everyone's company. Like Yoshi said, it's constant.

The funny part is when they get nailed because of it.

For some reason it reminds me of an aircraft design adage I heard a while back:

"A craft with its centre of lift behind its centre of mass will fly with difficulty; a craft with its centre of mass behind its centre of lift will fly once."

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

At some point you have to break out of that shell.

That's true if you're going into the job market, or still inside it. It doesn't apply to people who don't have to work (including the filthy rich as well as the welfare leeches). Unless you're doing it for your own psychological health or for your loved ones.

As much as I dislike them, the above two are correct.  People are better more often than not when you give them a chance.  Just remember that everyone's got stuff going on in their own lives, most of us aren't inherently evil, there are forces beyond our control at work around us all the time, and we should remember that we are not the center of anyone else's world.  Except maybe our moms.  Our moms love us.  Generally speaking, of course.  My mom loves me, I know this for a fact because she's told me a number of times throughout the years.

Yeah, I'm just not an animal person. Even though foxes wander West Philly all the time, I still don't want anything to do witht hem.

I have a 1.5 year old cat and a 6 month old kitten. Adopted the cat from a shelter and he was pretty annoying / lonely. Neighbour's cat had kittens so I decided to take one... They keep each other company.

Cats require pretty minimal work. At the very minimum dry food, water and litter that you have to clean every now and then. Brushing / cleaning them and trimming their claws is extra, but it keeps your place from getting covered with cat dander and your furniture from being ruined.

My cat has all but destroyed my leather recliner. I vacuum often so the dander isn't much of a problem but some of my furniture has been shredded, oh yeah. I choose to remain ignorant about the back of the couch. I know she claws at it but I never look. Out of sight, out of mind.
