Just woke up. Not sure if I'm dreaming or not.

It's winter Down Under, isn't it?  Nobody's ice skating here, but a lot of people up north are burning up due to record heat.

Oh my bloody. I've been busy for three hours installing lamps. Quite a task when all the electricity wires in your house have different colours (I've seen combinations of green-white, blue-yellow, green-yellow,...) and not like any international convention at all. Luckily there is such a thing as a volt meter...

A voltmeter won't help you tell neutral from ground. But, ground is generally conspicuous on its own.

Ground is obvious (it's striped, probably the only cable in this house that is according to international standards :P ). So I can distinguish the live from the neutral wire. I wonder what the guys were thinking when they did the electricity of this house in the 1970s...

So, what did the original electricians do?  Just pick colors for the wires at random?

True, but freeze or burn is really the question.

Speaking of burning, I managed to do that today. Outside all day and didn't bother with putting on more sunscreen.

Yes, this is kitty.

Yoshi, I seem to recall you talking about wildfires a while back.  I hope that situation is under control now.
