Hello!  Nice to see you back here.  Speaking of Sonic Boom, I actually saw a B2 Bomber fly low over my house once.  Even though it wasn't going supersonice it was still an incredible sight.

      Hello everyone . Here where I live , military aircraft fly over quite often . Low and slow most of the time and the occasional sets of jets . Now they really get on it , by the time you hear them they are already in the next county .

The highlight of the annual airshow here at San Antonio's Randolph AFB is the "Tora! Tora! Tora!" re-enactment of the bombing of Pearl Harbor using vintage aircraft redressed as Imperial Japanese Navy Mitsubishi A6M "Zero" fighters and Nakajima B5N "Kate" bombers.  I always imagine what the tourists downtown visiting the Alamo must think when they hear all the explosions in the distance and then see a swarm of Japanese Zeroes circling overhead.  "Omigawd, Santa Anna's Mexican Army has joined up with Yamamoto's kamikaze!  This is what happens when we let in first NAFTA and then that Toyota manufacturing plant!  Now we really need John Wayne!"

Was looking through old files on my computer and figured out that I did once use a gif as my avatar here a long time ago. So I don't know why I was so excited awhile back over that feature.

I still have some old files from several old computers I've had, though I've lost some due to computer crashes over the years.  It's almost like looking into a time capsule to see what kind of files I had back then.

      Time capsule , no doubt . Seeing what you were into back in the day can be rewarding and scary all at the same time . I'm working on my 4th PC . The last 3 were unrecoverable sadly . Would have been interesting to see what all was on that first one .

I'm so disappointed by the weather since we've been back in America.  I promised my kids major snowstorms, but we got nothing last year in Cleveland, and so far the UP is coming up short as well.  At least we still have more than two months of winter left...

 

Also I hate my job and I'm one disaster away from saying screw it and heading back to the Land Of The Rising Sun.

       Here where I'm at , we really haven't had any snow either . But I don't mind , as it gets too treacherous to commute . The snow is pretty while it is falling . But after it gets plowed and they apply coal cinders to the streets , it's not pretty anymore .

Here's your winter.  I've just gotten power back from an ice storm that hit last weekend, and there was a big snow before that.  This was all after it hit −4 °F (−20 °C) a week before Christmas, which was technically still fall.  This winter's been surprisingly active given the La Niña spiel I heard before the start of the season.

      No doubt , it dropped down to 6 degrees F here  when you had your chill . We didn't get the ice storm , thank goodness and we did maintain keeping the power on . I couldn't imagine losing power with such low temperatures , even though I have a wood stove . No lights must have really been a bummer . You guys don't get that kind of weather there too often , do you ?

It's the worst one I actually remember anything having.  I've been in an ice storm with a power outage one other time, right before New Year's 2001, but it wasn't to the magnitude of this one.  Usually, it's just an inch or two of snow here and there that melts the next day.

I wonder if they're getting any snow down there.  We're getting snow, but pitiful little showers every day just doesn't match the excitement of a major blizzard that paralyzes the whole town.

Nope, no snow in Texas currently.  It does snow in the northern half of the state, particularly in the plains region that is the panhandle, but we seem much more prone to sleet and freezing rain rather than snow.  Here in San Antonio, we get a powder dusting of snow every few years, but that is enough to completely paralyze the city, for virtually nobody here is prepared for or familiar with driving in even the lightest snow.  Along the northern suburban fringe of the city lies the escarpment and karst topography of the Texas Hill Country, and that region will get colder temperatures with more ice and snowfall than the downstream flatlands of the city proper.  Any snow that accumulates enough to be visible in San Antonio is a freak event that goes down in local lore, such as the all-time, record-shattering, "blizzard" of '85:

Yeah, you can get a deeper blizzard at Dairy Queen.

Save a couple of brief hard freezes, this has been another warmer winter in South Texas.

The NBA is weird, so there are some weird cities there with pro sports teams: Memphis, Oklahoma City, Brooklyn (which used to be New Jersey if I remember correctly)... I don't follow the NBA though, but I'll bandwagon on the Pistons if they do well.

    Sorry to change the subject , but I have decided to start up a YouTube channel of what I do when I'm not on Simtropolis or playing Simcity . I do a little bit of hiking and exploring . I think its finally time NBC pulls the plug on Saturday Night Live, The show has gotten so amazingly terrible, Once Keenan Thompson leaves there won't be any talent left, I mean they are just making fun of peoples looks now, It's really pathetic and makes the network look pathetic too for supporting this embarrassment to comedy.
