We tried to go up into Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore to play on the sand dunes, but they don't plow the road past a certain point and there was still too much snow and ice left on the road for our car to make it, so we went to Little Presque instead.  It was very warm.  There was even a bikini girl on the beach.

Last November, I was flying out of Cleveland to Miami after the world series and I had a Cubs hat on and the person who was doing the flight safety saw it and ended the announcement with "Go Cubs" and half the plane got angry, I thought that was hilarious .

Yep it's a Star Wars thing, I guess it started up a handful of years ago. You'd be surprised at how many holidays each day has, it's always something somewhere to somebody so everyday there is a handful.

Also, I can't look at Star Wars the same anymore now that Disney has totally ruined it.

        Since Disney bought Star Wars and other titles like Marvel . The quality hasn't gone bad , it's just a little different . I'm cool with the buyout , Disney has a lot of money to invest . Maybe let's give them a chance and see what they come up with next . The "Avengers" movies turned out pretty good , didn't they ?

Disney didn't ruin Star Wars.  The fans did.  I'm also becoming old and I just can't work up the same youthful enthusiasm for it anymore.  But mostly the fans, they can be terrible.

The current Marvel universe movies are actually pretty good. But then, they don't have much in the way of precedent to adhere to.

Star Wars on the other hand has a lot of precedent to adhere to. It was painfully obvious watching The Force Awakens that George Lucas did not direct it, and that alone was enough to ruin it as far as I'm concerned. It didn't feel like a Star Wars movie. It felt like I was watching fanfiction.

I suppose, though, that to some degree that was Disney responding to all of the complaints about the prequel trilogy and the absurd idea that Star Wars somehow needed to be "saved from George Lucas". They made a movie with scenery that was similar to the scenery of the original trilogy and shoved a bunch of blatant fanservice into it. Meanwhile it had a chaotic and contrived plot, didn't really honor the characters depicted (they turned Han into a bumbling idiot), and they didn't even properly capture the full classic aesthetic because they gave it the quick cuts and zippy camera movements of a 21st century action movie rather than sticking to the more subdued Lucas style. But everyone loved it because it looked like the original movies and that was all they really cared about.

So yeah, it's fair to say the fans ruined it. The fans demanded crap... and they got it.

We finished watching Star Trek Deep Space Nine.  It was excellent the whole way through.  Now we're doing Voyager, and while it's still good, it's less good than DS9.
