Who here is watching the black Mamba's final game?

So wanted to go but didn't feel like paying the 15 thousand dollars to attend.

So many ideas for cities and lots, and I can't do anything because of my worthless laptop. It's so pathetic and so wrong...

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." - Frank Zappa

"The wisest men follow their own direction." - Euripides

Of course, I'm that weirdo that goes to a baseball game and sits there watching intently with a largely blank face, analyzing everything that's going on but never cheering or booing. I'm not particularly emotionally invested in the outcome of most games I attend, I'm just curious to see what happens and how.

5523

I tend to do the same but I'm prone to a bit more cheering. Still I'm often asked if I'm "doing ok" or "having fun" but even that people ask me all over. When I'm relaxed I show little emotion. It clearly irks people who rely on facial feedback and what not.

I didn't watch Kobe's last game myself.

I retained an old desktop with xp so I could continue to play SC4 but I never even transferred the files. I think I'm done. Too many plugins and files to manage, ctd's and over all too much time needed to make something cool. It was fun playing it for like, 8 years though!

I love watching baseball, but I don't have many chances to watch.  I'll cheer if it's the Tigers.

I still play SC4 when I have some free time.  I pared down my plugins and organized my new ones when I revamped my cities two years ago.  If I move back to Japan and become a teacher again (and have actual free time) I'm sure I'll play more often.

Anyone watch Game of Thrones?

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

I plan on drawing a city comprised only of unoriginal, uninspiring, "generic" modern skyscrapers (and highrises) of the 20th century, with some turn of the millenium Asian skyscrapers that would fit right in. I will draw a few generic advertisements in the Japanese style and call the city Daitoshi (referred to as The Metropolis in the comic). Cars will all be Japanese models and trees will include Ginko, Sakura, and Pine. I also like drawing bamboo topiaries (small thickets of bamboo cut to 3 meters or shorter). I might draw other interesting cities, such as halfway between Rome and Romulus Prime, maybe a Blade Runner style city, maybe a wealthy & futuristic city with iTowers, Crystal Spires, and Organic Architecture.

It will be the setting of my little comic and of my upcoming game (currently being reworked from prealpha 3, with v0.0.0d coming later this year), both taking place in an alternate history seemingly in the 1980s with the changes from reality having subtle effects on the setting at first. I will eventually add time travel into the comic plot and add New Deco City (an amalgam of Art Deco buildings from NYC, Miami, LA, and elsewhere) along the Southern Oregon coast, founded by time traveling entrepreneurs and artists. The main perceivable difference between reality and this fiction is the presence and settlement of islands between Japan and Oregon. One archipelago will be 1/3 the way from Oregon and be a Spanish colony, one archipelago will be 1/3 the way from Japan and be a Japanese territory. Other subtle differences will become more apparent as the comic goes along (and will be altered further with time travel). I'm considering on having the Classical Greeks inventing vaccines being the biggest change in the first timeline, with Rome expanding solely northward (leaving Phonecea alone to expand southward), and the repercussions being the first alteration. Vaccines in Classical Antiquity would prevent the Plague of Justinian, and result in an overpopulated Europe with stronger Roman influence, merely 2 centuries ahead of reality (putting the comics in the 1780s but the century would rarely be mentioned). The interior of the New World would be mostly uncolonized (because there would be no plagues to kill the Native Americans) but the coastal trade port cities will be the only settings (everywhere else merely mentioned when relevant).

Edit: Nice map, Duke87! I wonder if I could make maps for Daitoshi, Bellísisla, and New Deco City as good as your maps.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Muck, you are now the second person to compare it to Boston, which is funny because at no point was Boston an inspiration for any of the content of that map. Though in retrospect I can see some conceptual resemblance, partly due to all of the underground freeways and partly due to the airport being relatively close to and across the water from downtown.

The basic geography was actually inspired by Baltimore more than anything else, but the rest of it is not meant to resemble any real world location.

I hope to get to Chicago this summer for a game. I've been road tripping more and have some more planned. I went to New York this past weekend. I'm headed to Cleveland in 2 weeks and Philly in August. I've also become quite attracted to Chattanooga, TN. I hope to reach all this year. Although I might take a train to Chicago to shake things up.

Chattanooga is a surprisingly neat place.

I just spent the last week driving around Washington, Oregon, and Idaho (with a little bit of Montana and Wyoming). Now waiting for my flight home.

Sure, Let's tear Wriggles and Da Fen down too, Then Baseball  will be the NBA where stadiums don't last outside of the garden, The knicks probably won't even last much longer anyway.

Yup! Have you? It's weird that the show is going ahead of the books now. I don't like not knowing what's going to happen.

@Chptrk Yes, all of them.. twice, and A Dance with Dragons I'm going through the third time as I wait for The Winds Of Winter

Anyone else read them?

Last I remember the city of NY will be kicking MSG to the curb in 9 years to expand Penn Station, any change on that?

Yes, but still even the 4th is older then most stadiums, Oldest NBA stadium was built in 1968 (Garden, but has been basically gutted since) And some are soon due to be replaced, It is also soon to be the oldest in the NHL.
