Oh, Yoshi.  Schulmanator drafted you for battle against the Buggs, did he?  I hope you make it back OK.

Twitter doesn't interest me, and I get all the Tumblr I can handle in the Imgur funny pictures gallery.  Beyond my Facebook page and here, I don't really care for social networking online all that much.

Same for me. I do check Twitter every now and then if I need to know something (such as: is there a large-scale problem with my ISP or is it just my connection), but I don't have a Twitter account myself. Same for Tumblr.

(971) I've got accounts on Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest etc etc just to follow people - posting something on every social network every day is insane o.O

I have a twitter account but I mostly only use it to follow people, I rarely tweet anything. I do not have a Tumblr. Facebook is where I am and as far as I'm concerned one social networking site is enough for day to day usage.

There are some who post every day on every single social network.  I wonder how they have any time left to do anything else?  Posting on ST's good enough for me.

I post on Facebook every day (generally speaking). It doesn't take too much time, it's more something you do 'in between'.

I never social network. Ever. On anything. Unless forums count than I have around 6 (Simtrop I spend most time on). I don't go on social networking because I I find people can just be overly mean and stupid.

You can select the people you like on social networks, of course. I don't have many friends on Facebook because I only add people I really know and like, so that results in 141 friends, people I know from high school, university,... I never really understood people with +1000 friends (come on, really?).

*forever alone*

But if I was social networks, I'd have none, just like in real life.

I didn't really have many friends in high school, either. But then that gradually changed.

The key really is that making friends usually somehow requires taking some initiative. You have to be willing to go out and do stuff. You're not going to make any friends sitting around at home.

people who spend so much time on online forums (like myself) tend to have few or no friends in RL. It's a trade-off i.e. economics.

985: On the contrary, I spend a lot of time on the forums, yet have an active social life. I visit family now and then, catch up with friends for coffee and drinks, and go out for dinner when the money allows.

Yeah, many gamers I know (so: people who are very often online) also have a lot of friends in real life.

I personally don't have a lot of friends, I am quite timid and introverted. I do have a satisfying social life, though.

Time spent on this versus that is a tradeoff, and yes, an active internet life tends to be bred by a not very active social life. But "not very active social life" can mean a wide range of things, from "I have friends but I only go out and do stuff with them maybe once a week on average" (which would describe my current situation) to "I have no friends and am forever alone" (which was more or less my situation when I registered here 10 years ago).

    Frankly, Yoshi, it wasn't.
