    King: Thanks for the compliments.

nooneatall: Thanks for the compliments also. And BTW, the new interstate signs you sent me work great. The Interstate Highways Update Series just wouldn't be the same without them. 10.gif

    Great update comdude,
I particularly like the residential area pic with the marina, reminds me of Shelter Bay where I lived several (46.gif) years ago! Looks like a great place to be a kid! 3.gif

A question though 42.gif Do you modify your pics in any way? cause they have a yellowish-greenish tint like they were taken at dusk or dawn!

    Take care!

Thanks for the comments everyone, I really appreciate those comments. Sorry, but for the first time in a long time in this CJ, I can't respond individually to each comment. I will do so tomorrow, but right now I'm too tired. I just got back after being away for a week. The next update should be ready by Tuesday. It should be a big one. 10.gif

As I said, I'll get around to answering to all comments individually tomorrow, as I should have plenty of time then. But for now, sorry, I'm just too tired.

Alright, time to answer to the comments from when I was gone. 10.gif

Mikeaut: Thanks for the compliments as always. And thanks for putting the link in your sig! I really appreciate that, thanks.

YAH: Don't worry, it will come soon. 3.gif

Darmok: Thanks for the compliments, great to hear from you as always. BTW, where is Shelter Bay? It sounds like a cool place.

I don't modify my pictures, except for putting in the text in some of them. I convert them to .jpegs in MSPaint. Maybe it looks different because I'm not converting them in Photoshop (I think most CJs convert in Photoshop, but I'm used to good old MSPaint). Thanks for pointing that out.

rix: Thanks for the compliments. I'm glad you like the airport, it's one of my favorite parts of the region.

To All: There may be an update today. It will be another one on Ocean Point. Then, I'll do the Crosstown update. In the coming weeks, watch out for a larger Ocean Point region, as I'll be extending the config.bmp further to the south to include more towns and development. 10.gif

Can't wait for the next update, Crosstown has always appealed to me. Also, I thought there was still room for development in the Pinewood area? Anyways, welcome back to ST, and I hope you had mucho fun on your trip!

Whoa, I haven't seen an update in a long while, and I have missed it from one of my favorite CJ's, 2.gif. Anyway, can't wait for the next update.

RHF: Thanks for the compliments. I'm actually planning on making the Pinewood area into a State Forest or a State Park. As for my vacation, it couldn't have been better. 10.gif

DA: Thanks for the compliments. Don't worry, after the almost half-month long wait, the next update should come tonight.

To All: The Crosstown update will be very large (8 pictures w/descriptions) and it will come tonight.

    Hey Comdude!

Well Shelter Bay was the old part of town in Port-Cartier, a small town on the Saint-Lawrence river. See the map

    portcartier.jpg

I lived there when I was a kid, behind our house we had a backyard of about 50 feet, and then there were rocks, and then the beach, and then the sea, in fact it's the mouth of the St-Lawrence but it's 70 miles wide 46.gif, so you can't see the other side! Was REALLY fun to be a kid there!

Waiting for the next update! 19.gif
    Take care

Darmok: That does look like a really cool place to live. The terrain looks awesome. And I'm guessing you got a lot of snow up there too. 10.gif

To All: After something like 12 or 13 days without an update, I'm finally coming out with the next update tonight! It will be a big whopper, 8 pictures with descriptions of the sprawling town of Crosstown. Crosstown has a large commercial district, and it is located well south of Ocean Point. It's along what is currently the region's southern border.

Sorry for the double post, but I have the progress on the update. The pictures are all taken and ready to be converted into .jpegs, edited and then given their descriptions on the post here. It's been a while, and I've delayed the updates too much now, so Update Progress Reports may be more common in this CJ. 10.gif

Estimated update release time: 9:00-11:30 PM, Simtropolis time.

EDIT: This CJ has reached 20,000 views! Thanks to all who view this CJ.

    rix: Thanks.

YAH: Thanks, and don't worry, the update is here. 10.gif

RHF: Yup, your wait is over.

King: Wait no longer. I know. It's been a while. 3.gif

To All: Here is the first update since 4/20, a full-fledged, 8-picture update of Crosstown. The last time Crosstown was showed in this CJ, it was an uninhabited forest with some roads running through. Things have changed there, for the better, of course.

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This town, the furthest south in the region, is quickly becoming much more than just another dot on the map

All of the development in nearby South Shores and East Pinewood warranted lots of growth in Crosstown, the furthest south town in the region. Located well to the south of Ocean Point, and more on its own than most of the region's towns, it has thrived on its own.

There's talk of dividing the region up into two counties, and maybe some more areas, to the south of Crosstown, will be shown as well in the near future. 2.gif

But first, even with Crosstown being a part of Pinewood County and the greater Ocean Point Metropolitan Area, it deserves plenty of attention of its own.

Here's what Crosstown looks like from above:

    overview7im.jpg

Downtown Crosstown includes many commercial areas centered along and near busy roads. There are a couple of slightly taller buildings there, but it doesn't have any 5-10 story type office towers that can be seen even outside of Ocean Point, in places like South Inlet (Major suburb of Ocean Point), Bayside (Another major Ocean Point suburb), and North Beach.

    dtcrosstown3jp.jpg

Crosstown sprawls to the west out to I-68. Mostly middle and upper class sims live in this area.

    i68dvlp2pv.jpg

The Crosstown bayfront (On South Bay) offers beautiful views, nice, quiet bay beaches with the small bay waves, and very high real estate. Some wealthy Ocean Point business sims, and owners of the sucessful South Shores industries have come to live in this neighborhood.

    bayfront5me.jpg

Crosstown Industrial Park, located in the eastern part of town near the South Shores border (Port South Shores is the largest and best seaport in the region), provides many jobs of different wealth levels to Crosstown.

    indpark3af.jpg

West Pines is one of Crosstown's premiere areas, located north of I-68, and east of I-468 in northern Crosstown. It has a nice commercial area and great residential neighborhoods in this quiet part of Crosstown Township.

    westpines6ar.jpg

The Stores at Mapleton Flats is another large, modern commercial district with a mall and other commercial centers, such as office buildings. This area is located south of West Pines and I-68, and just north of downtown Crosstown.

    mapletonflats3ri.jpg

Along Citrus Road, County Road 739 (CR 739) in southern Crosstown Township is the Southoak District. This area has a very nice and large commercial center along CR 739, and some wealthy outlying residential areas.

Well, I hope everyone liked the update! It was a big one, and it was tough to make. 10.gif

Its really nice, but what are you going to do about that section north west of Bayside and east of East Marshland?  Its empty right now except for the bridge, is that where a big downtown is going to go.  Perhaps a park like New York City's Central Park?  5.gif

Wow comdude, possibly the coolest comeback ever!

I love the shot of the Bayfront, looks very peaceful and serene. I also like the West Pines area, that looks great too. Heck, everything looks great! Keep up the awesome work!

    jacqulina: Thanks.

    supersimman: Thanks also.

helomoto: Thanks. However, you could find that answer somewhere in here. I was originally going to fill the island with development, so there would be low-rise residential there. The region's downtown is located in the city of Ocean Point; and there aren't many big skyscrapers to keep it realistic. So, that piece of land by the bridge will probably be a preserve, but nothing like Central Park (I haven't been there, but I know what it looks like). It will just be the trees, exactly how it is, with maybe a ranger station, and that's it.

RHF: Thanks for the compliments. West Pines is one of my favorite areas too, so I'm glad you like it. And the bayfront there, that's where I would live if I lived in Crosstown.

To All: The next updates will be on Ocean Point, finishing up the little tour of that area. 10.gif

Crosstown looks like a town I would like to live in.  It's not real big, but it doesn't look like a small town either.  Good mixture of both.  The Bayfront looked like a real nice community.   Nice update.  Keep up the good work.

Sparks1176: Thanks for the compliments. You're right, Crosstown is a pretty medium sized town. And I'm glad you pointed that out, because that's what I'm going for in Crosstown.

YAH: Thanks for the compliments. Again, I'm glad to see Crosstown gives the impression of a medium-sized town. That's exactly what I had in mind for it.

flanig: Thanks. The region's population is 576,819.

    Mikeaut: Thanks for the compliments.

To All: The next update should come by tommorow night at the latest. 10.gif

Sorry, no update tonight. Well, I'd like if this CJ would get more comments. I guess this is just a slow period.

I have some plans for this CJ's future, which I'll tell about here:

    EXTENDING THE CONFIG.BMP FILE

To the South, along the coast, and the ocean

Ocean Point is running out of room. The undeveloped forestland will remain as it is. I plan on extending the region to the south, with a new area of 5-10 medium maps long, and 3-7 medium maps wide. I also may extend the config.bmp file to show more of the ocean, which I think would make this region look nicer.

Heading West on I-31, into the country

I would also like to extend to the west, out in the country, to show some very rural areas outside of Ocean Point. In order to do that, I would have to do the following:

Make a new region, and a config.bmp file for it with all of the exisiting Ocean Point area, and an area to the west as well.

Then, I would have to import each city tile in the current Ocean Point region to the new region, and put each tile in its proper location.

Then, I could terraform away (Or, if I want to, I could make a greyscale map with more precision and render it into the region, then extend the config.bmp file and import the cities from the current Ocean Point region) at the region to the west.

I would fill in the trees and develop the new, western portion of the Ocean Point region.

    BEFORE I DO THAT....

I can still get some development, and especially some improvements, in the current Ocean Point region.

    COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS/ETC.

I'm readily open to anything you have to say about these plans. Also, if these plans would not work (As in the config.bmp ideas) please notify me. Thanks.

Thanks for reading this long-winded post, that's all for tonight. 10.gif
