EA is offering all those who bought Simcity at launch are getting  a free PC game from their PC catalog.

On March 18th you will get an email to telling you how to redeem your free PC game.

So what PC game are you getting?

I'm thinking about getting Mass Effect Trilogy (PC)

Fantastic. I might get that Need for Speed that came out recently.

EDIT: Though I worry that it might be a limited selection of games. Which would just be adding to the PR disaster this already is.

EA has a large PC game catalogue, it might be something small like bejewled.

I'd rather they give us a voucher for free SimCity DLC in the future.

The representative is from Maxis. I don't think you get free EA games. I think you get free Maxis games. Nevertheless, this is the first SimCity game that I have played in my life. I wouldn;t mind getting an older SimCity game for free.

Well, this makes me happy. Instead of playing SC, I get to anticipate the possible car wreck on the 18th when they tell us we get The Sims 3 vanilla as our free game. ;)

If it's any one EA game, I'd be blown away and beyond thrilled. But unfortunately, I lost my wide-eyed optimism in my youth. :)

I just can't see them letting us walk away with Crysis 3 or something. Still, free is free, so I'll take whatever.

I notice it says A free game from EA, not ANY free game from EA. So we might not get to choose

I just want the gift of EA actually listening to the community.

Is that too much to ask??

I'm sure we'll get to choose. Just that we'll be choosing from a small selection of games they I've picked as our possible rewards. I doubt it'll be anything that they're currently selling for more than $30.

Is this if we only ordered through Origin or Amazon as well?

what exactly do they consider thelaunch window? First 24 hours? Up until this announcement?

Don't get your hopes up for getting that Mass Effect trilogy though lol.

not only is that 3 games, but I highly doubt that AAA titles will be included.

The OP is inaccurate--The blog post doesn't mention anything about buying it at launch. It says on the 18th, everyone who has activated will get it. If you haven't bought it already, you could buy it on the 17th and get the free game. That's how I read it, anyway.

I will hold my excitement until I see the list. Not expecting newly released games...but we'll see.

Could be a good move by EA.

Yeah, I'm with mostly everybody else. It'll probably be a select list of a few games that either A) I already own, or B) Probably would never play. Yeah sure, it's kinda nice that they're doing it, except they should do it immediately, not making us wait another 10 days until we can get a free game while we're still flapping around like fish out of water trying to play a game we paid $60+ for and yet, can't, because of their own incompetence and shortsightedness.

In all honestly, I'd much rather see them provide a Season Pass for all future DLC releases for Simcity, considering I spent $80 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. It would highlight that they are quite serious to fans of the Simcity franchise, who put faith in EA and Maxis by pre-ordering a game that many had reservations for, especially over the issue of craptastic servers and an always-online model of gaming.

Only if we can import our ant colonies into simcity and follow them there.

On the bright side, I bet the ant colonies we can build in SimAnt are bigger than the cities we can build in SimCity.

    (I kid, I kid)

god, they are so desperate to do ANYTHING except the right thing...which is to fix the game to NOT require an internet connection.

I'm happy that i didn't bought the game. It isn't fine for the guys who bought the new SimCity. But for my as a Simcity 4 player, i can only laugh about the comedy of the new SimCity release

This could be another PR nightmare...if they only give this free game to people who bought on Origin...here comes REDDIT!!  I personally bought on GreenMan Gaming, others have bought on Amazon, etc.  If I don't get an email with a free game offer, LOOK OUT!

I'm really sceptical to this "Free Game" stuff. And i agree with some og the comments above stating that they haven't told us that we can chhose from their whole catalouge. And why wait 10 days after launch to give it out? Why not now, to have the players do something else while they are waiting for the game to work....Sounds fishy to me.

Its a bit like Playstation Network crashing a year back or so. They gave you got some downloadable games to choose from. I remember getting Infamous and a zombie game of sorts. Though those titles were not new titles at that time. So I dont excpect to be getting any new titles like Crysis 3, just a choice from some core ea titles a couple years old probably.

Though all in all im glad the game is running, I dont dislike the always online DRM as much as I like playing the new SimCity.

Oh cool, but I bought mine at a local store. Will I still get the free game, since I have registered the game on Origin?

A choice between two games they released in 1983 like Pinball  Construction Set and One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird is still a choice. Though I don't believe our options will be that bad.

Hmmm, just where have I heard that story before, Judas?

Yes I have bought the game but it has not arrived yet (you know a plastic disc version) and I will probably give it a whirl and decide for myself if it is good or bad. The idea of giving something else to cover up botched jobs is a little on the nose honestly. I personally do not want X because Y is stuffed. Do I have a right to expect Y to work? Of course I do, These people were only too willing to take my money. What are we in an age where people only make slipshod goods and expect no recourse for their actions? How sad we have become!

    Cheers
