I have a feeling I'll have a snow day tomorrow, certainly no better in my end of town. :P Weather like this reminds me of the time our neighbour; a contractor, somehow got hold of a bit too much alcohol and a front end loader. He brought it into the suburb and cleared his driveway with it... and dumped the snow in front of our floor-to-ceiling window, covering the whole thing.

Unofficial total for west London: 70cm.

Still a good ways away from the 110cm that got dumped here over 2 days 3 years ago.

I remember that quite vividly; only time in about 20 or so years the TVDSB schools had three snow days in a row.

Went for a hike around Antelope Creek not far from home today. These shots were taken from one of the city parks; which extends near the creek. This particular creek flows for several miles and merges with Dry Creek where it ultimately flows to the Sacramento River.

In the same area, there is a natural spring and a grinding rock once used by the natives; where they would process the acorns gathered from the trees near the creek. This spring contributes water to Antelope Creek and is most active in the morning and evening where in the noontime it becomes stagnant. The reason behind this fluctuation is unknown.

@Haljackey:  52 cm?  Looks more like 5.2 cm.  52 cm is pretty close to 20 inches.  Here in Hensall (about 50 Km further north), we got around 5 cm in the same period.

And I was thinking of moving to London.  Glad I didn't.

This is an older picture I took at my school two years ago during the School's Pre-Frosh Weekend:

Yes, that's a game of Tetris in Full Color on the side of  building. I tried playing it, but I'm not very good.

(Sorry for the image quality; it was taken on my phone at night, but I think y'all can get the idea)

Seeing as this thread is still in action after a while of me being inactive, I'll share some of the work I've been doing :)

A couple of months back, I began work on starting my own photography business. It's just a hobby at the moment more than anything, but one day I hope to sell my pictures around the world. We'll see how that goes.

Anyway, here's my Flickr photostream.

My favourites are these ones:

The funny thing is, I still don't own a macro lens. I plan to get one sometime over the next 2-3 months though. No doubt it will quickly become my favourite lens. Also, to prove I do things other than macro from time to time, this is my first shot at HDR. Not the best, but I like it.

I really like that image of the grass and rain, Kabinator. :)

I took a drive out into central Florida today, to a place called Bok Tower Gardens.  The first two images are from that location, and the last one is from my drive back to Tampa via State Route 60.

These moss trees are a common sight in Florida:

I think rusty has grown up and could now be called a cat.  Squirrels are cute, but they will do anything to get at a bird feeder.  Did you know we have many white (not albino) squirrels in Exeter?  Quite safe in the winter, but we have a large number of raptors here so I'm surprised they make it though the summer.

I used to have a bit of lego back when I was younger and wasted all the birthday money I received. Having membership to a museum with a lego exhibit and shop hardly helped.

I seem to remember finding it ridiculous that I had more lego flames and witches hats and capes than I did actual building blocks...

Ha ha Mark, I know exactly what you mean! I can certainly attest to the ridiculous of witches hats and capes, except for me it was construction helmets and tools.

    So, how about some "Laygoes":

I really like that long exposure shot of yours, the mood is nice and relaxing.  I feel like it'd make a nice album cover or similar.

So i've been using my new phone for taking pictures lately (galaxy s4).  It defaults to a stupidly large resolution.  I love, love, love the camera on this thing.

As far as phone photography goes, those are some excellent shots. All-in-all they are quite nice! Now, time for an HDR and texture experiment:
