Got it.  Took forever to load, but you are correct.  "Every hair on the bear ...".  Firefox doesn't make it clear that there is more to see if you scroll down.

I really like some of the aspects of the English countryside.

The weather has been quite mild for this time of year, still above zero with only minor frost in the morning.

 

My favourite time of year is the summer when the countryside really comes to life.

I've always loved smooth gradients in the sky like this, especially on clear mornings and evenings (although, there was actually a thick fog blanketing the area, it never reached me for some reason).

When I was active in photography, I always carried my camera bag.  Maybe outfits have become more unwieldy, but mine was quite a small fanny pack.

We had a pretty decent amount of sea fog last night well into this morning, so I figured it was a good time to photograph the scenery.

Very nice fog shots.  They all need a small boat in them somewhere to show the scale, but not a real problem.

A bit of a backstory:

On the outsakirts of northern Melbourne, there was once an insane asylum by the name of Mont Park. For many years it housed all sorts of people, from WWII veterans suffering shell shock to other so deemed "incurables". Once the mindset shifted from institutionising mentally ill patients to other forms of care, Mont Park dwindled and was finally shut down in the late '90s along with other hospitals.

Part of the site was sold at a previous date of which is currently occupied by La Trobe University, some was used for a housing estate and a few buildings remain fenced off and dilapidated. We decided to explore them.



What looked to be once a kitchen.





Down a hallway.





Broken glass everywhere.



Remnants of a bathroom.



This didn't scare me so much.



Okay, this DID. Once I realised I was amazed by the work.



Open the door, then this drop.



Her face looks slightly concerned. Better get out of here.

Saw a red light flickering which worried us a little. When we went out there was a car parked immediately by the building. I think that was our cue to exit.

We have such a building too where I live. It was a sanatorium for tbc-patients, closed in 1989. At one point, it was chosen as 1 of the 100 most threatened monuments in the world, by the World Monuments Fund. They are now finally renovating the building, so it's too late to make photo's. There are a lot on the internet though, like this one.

Went hiking in the Columbia Gorge yesterday.  Shooting waterfalls on the shady north face of Cascade foothills with the sun out didn't turn out the best with my old point-and-click, but darned if there isn't some good waterfalls there.
