Lots of people will complain about that.

Lots of people will complain about virtually every feature of the game, whether it is present or absent.

The game is different from too-much-beloved-and-used-to SC4, and the very fact of difference is vile. Gentlemen, start your whines.

Cheers @guitarmatt99 , I was just coming online to take back my mention of small regions, they released this image yesterday on their Facebook page...

563812_10151317621549866_1835910889_n.jpg

This isn't the region view, it's the lobby. Seriously, watch the strategy video they released recently, that shows the proper region view and thankfully it is much more what we're used to. Secondly, thats the max region size, 16x medium or equivalent to 4x large SC4 size cities - that is pretty damn small.

If this isn't a version of the region view then why was this the caption on the Facebook pages picture?...

"Cities don't live in a bubble. Proof? This new region shot supports up to 16 cities that you can claim privately, with your friends, or with anyone around the world."

As the caption says, this is a shot of a region, not necessarily the region view as we are thinking. The actual region view is what you see in the gameplay strategy videos when Stone zooms out completely.

This image seems to be more like part of the game's main menu screen (you can kinda tell with the other tabs saying "join game" and "create game"). This is possibly where you can choose between all the regions you would be playing. Personally I think it's ok as it can tell you quickly what the region's status is without loading it. Though, I also think it's a bit too simplified (I think there should be more information presented).

Bubbles are referring to no contact with the outside world, or the rest of the world, not that they don't touch each other. You know, go back in time a little bit, and we had gaps like this between cities, we still haven't completely covered the surface of the planet you know :(

Not gaps like that. No SimCity has ever been close to the size of a real city, I'm always astonished when I compare my SC4 cities to real life cities, even though my cities do feel quite large. But these gaps are exceptionally bad.

I understand the whole problem with making cities contiguous, but somehow I feel Maxis could have atleast patched it up a little bit; make it look a little more realistic.

One thing I did notice, is that at the end of the video clip he "zoomed out" to show his friends city, and it was just all skyscrapers.. there was no surrounding suburban area, or anything of the sort.

I find it pretty amusing that Maxis spent so much time and effort to make this "glassbox" a great simulation engine.. with people actually going to work and what-not, but then totally ignore the rest of the game...

It would be like someone taking the time to build a perfect Ferrari engine tuning it to perfection.. and then shoving it in a pinto... anyone poor enough to drive the pinto wouldn't be able to afford the engine, and anyone able to afford the engine wouldn't be seen in the pinto.

Same thing here, any "casual" gamer wouldn't care about ultra-realism in the game engine, and the die-hard fanboys who would love the details about the game engine don't like the cartoony-unrealistic game play.

that being said..

I did like the way the cities interacted together, crime spreading and what-not.. but the fact that Maxis has thrown realism into the wind is definitely a downside for me. Won't be buying. :/

I think he meant real cities which, yes, still have very large "gaps" between metropolitan areas.

Obviously, the problem is you won't be able to create anything resembling a metropolitan area on this game...

Believe it or not, people are allowed to like or dislike this game, and it's no one's job to convince anyone otherwise . The game is the way it based on decisions by the company making it. We can discuss it's features, give our opinions, and make our own decisions.

I think the city tile sizes are reasonable, a little pokey yes, but in the 1st strategy gameplay video I thought there was a decent amount of space to build on and it felt like SC4 gone all 3D and spruced up with the curved roads and all. I just hope the Glassbox simulator is more biased towards RCI because most of the fun of SC4 was mastering how to develop all the various RCI buildings; it took time and was very rewarding when you at last saw skyscrapers rising up! I really hope that RCI stage limits are realistic; for instance a majority of lower stages when say your residential population is less than 10000, but a majority of higher stages when your residential population is greater than 200000.

But from the looks of it stage caps seem to be here in this game...

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

For me the thing what makes me wanna buy this game now is the fact how you can interact with the different cities around you. I am already starting to get ideas on what to build. Though I want a road thing that makes my roads totally right instead of curvey. Also it seems quite hard, for each new building, you have to click on it, to actually enjoy the full features of it, which is confusing and hard.
