To be honest, the way freshwater place's tower sort of seems disjointed from the base (and the fact that the building looks totally fine w/o a tower) seems like an easy way to add multiple BATs to your collection rather simply. Should take much less time to render, too. I think with all the work on the base for Q1 the same would apply, although the rooftop pool does sort of require a reason for it's existence much more than a rooftop terrace.

Either way, there is some excellent work going on here.

Hi - sorry I've been MIA, I had a rather unsuccessful transition to Macbook Pro :(

Macbook Pro + BAT = :noway:

    Back to my Alienware :thumb:

Weixc - nope, won't be diagonal

Jason - hmmm... you sounded very certain about that. Unfortunately Ambient occlusion is a mystery that continues to elude me. All I can say is, absolutely all my materials (except for glass) since the Times Weekly Building have had ambient occlusion turned on. I've done more research on the topic... one thing I came across was this guy (I think he was baking ambient occlusion onto his model), he basically made a white texture and applied it to everything, then applied AO to it. That got me thinking, that might be a good way to test that AO settings are right before applying actual textures. (Not the baking bit, just the all white bit). Anyway, I'll give it a go.

Art128 - not really sure what you're saying. Yes, the lights are reflections. Is that bad? Not sure how to make them not reflect. Any ideas? In terms of the roof lighting, its just building illumination. The roof doesn't require human access before it can be illuminated? Or.. roof access could be concealed ;)

Sloonei - I looked hard and finally found an image where the sign looked illuminated, although it could have been photoshopped that way :P . Anycase, I followed suit and it looks better..

    i1y6.jpg

Delecto - same as with Art comments above. I'm not sure what more work needs to be done. More specifics would be good :thumb:

Thanks everyone who has commented :)

Looks amazing. I found this image of your building with the sign illuminated. It looks like the only difference is the dash through the A is red.

In general, this equation hold true:

    Simcity + Mac =

Some people manage to break the cycle...most find the equation is true.

Also, the slash under the "Hyatt" word is always red in my experience.

Looking great!  Not sure how far along you are but are some of the windows on this side of the tower going to be illuminated like the other side?  If that has already been done disregard what I said... I only say that because it seems as if the rooms on this side are all dark/unoccupied.  Unless these rooms have super-tinted privacy glass or something  :P

Good to see you again here, Red! It's been awhile. >.< Although, a bit late, congrats on the stunning Freshwater Place release! Yay. But, yes, I'm definitely gonna keep track of this beauty. Have a good one as always.

Merry Christmas, Reddon. Thank you so much for the fun you bring us.

I have this little gift for you---Arts Centre Spire with changeable nightlights!

    Here is the download link:

    http://rapidshare.com/share/95CF706E49DB7A3756B4BE2FD52DC805

And you need to remove all the former files you made about Arts Centre Spire from the Plugins folder. The lot is in the Landmark menu (with non-specially made icon). I only made the DN version. The color of the spire will change every hour, following the sequence:red-green-blue-purple.

I'd say if there's anything I can do in the future, I'm always ready to help. :golly:

    Hope you enjoy it.

Wow Weixc, that's really fantastic. Thankyou!! You're very clever, timed props was beyond me :boggle: .Should I upload it into the STEX?

Re the red dash in the Hyatt Sign... um... :uhm:  nah... >.<  can't do it  :noway:  !! Just seems so tacky :( .

Evan/ Sloonei.. yeah night windows on this building are really hard. They look semi-ok from the front of the building, but at the back they don't work. Due to the window glazing (presumably) the windows are really dimly illuminated at night. When dim nightlights are applied to the BAT the glare doesn't affect them and they look like dull matte pictures have been stuck onto the outside of the building. If I make them too bright, they don't look right either. I need to keep playing with it until I find the right method. Its weird, I've made dim windows before, just this BAT for some reason. Might be all the different angles of the glass.

Thanks for nice comments everyone! I've been feverishly working away on another project, hope to post something soon

Amazing work, it looks very detailed and big, great work for the lights :D

I suggest to give that glass texture some opacity, and place some lights inside some of the building's floors.

Oh Reddon, it will be great if you're willing to upload the lot.  :golly:  But in order to make it complete, I have to do a little adjustment:

    1. change the instance of one desc file to make it uncollide with the original lots you made.

    2. adjust all 24 props(in one lot) to precisely one centre point.

    3. make an icon for the lot.

    4. do everything again for the MN version.

All these things take a few days...Then the Readme file work will be left to you.(I'm really not good at it)

Btw, since the model files are so large, the upload of MN and DN will take more than 50Mb altogether... :P

Lovely work as always Reddonquixote! I'm loving the rich, eclectic variance in physical form and texture; The contrast between styles is quite energetic. By the way, that conical glass roof sure could hold a nice big Christmas tree! ;)

That looks amazing Red! Having just been there a few days ago I can't wait to see how it'll turn out like! :D
Just a few questions; Will the shot tower inside the glass cone be visible? And how large will it be in terms of tile size? :P

    Your work is awesome, but.....

Have you ever worked on some Brisbane or Gold Coast buildings? Perhaps some old BATs lying somewhere inside your computer? That would be awesome.

^^^^ Not trying to put pressure on you, just wondering ;)

This looks amazing! Can't wait to finally have it in my city :D
    Keep up the amazing work!

Also, i wonder if any of these people commenting realise this is a real building you're trying to recreate?

I like the building as is.
