I've only seen stars and shields next to some users' posts, what exactly do these mean?

By 'caption' in the reputation text box, I didn't mean a tool tip. The word 'Reputation' is missing.

I see the avatar panel display has been overhauled. Care to share the meaning of the stars with us?

So, when I'm writing up a post, they don't have the toolbar at the top, it's greyed out. Plus, the font is a very basic one, it's not Arial like it used to be (see image below). Is there some setting that went weird?

I'm not even sure if I can embed images, so I'll just post the link; I think it automatically hyperlinks. Now, I'd been away for a while, but last night and this morning, it was working just fine.

EDIT: Same story when I'm editing my "About Me" page, as well as my signature.

EDIT #2: And wow, seems to just be a Google Chrome issue, Firefox v16.0.2 works like a charm. I'm using the most up-to-date Google Chrome, apparently, v 23.0.1271.64, according to the browser.

Considering that you have several other sites open on tabs, have you considered increasing your RAM or virtual memory? Slow to load may just be page thrashing.

It still happens with no other tab. Might be photobucket or the site server getting blocked(?), apparently since images uploaded using imageshack upload correctly.

The site as a whole loads quickly, its the images I think.

Nothing is quite so annoying as someone who uploads a PNG when a JPEG will do. PNGs are much, much larger and take forever to load on a browser. It is mostly a matter of ignorance on the part of the posters because they really don't understand the need nor, in many cases, the difference. (Vive la difference).

This happens to me all the time

Apparently, my browser can't fully load Simtropolis, and things takes a long time to load

The problem happens to me, too. Most pictures don't appear correctly

I notice the problem appears after Simtropolis undergone the upgrade? Because before the site and pics went very well. Last night (my location time) was an exception, because the pictures appear as normal, but since morning the problem occurs again.

Well, this would be more useful is you would tell us what browser you are running, and its version number.

Try cleaning out your cache before you come on ST.

ST chat just sits on the ol' grey screen for me (so no Social Lobby, etc), and has done so since the last chat software update.

Tried on both FF, Chrome and IE, and still no go.

Any ideas?

In the main page can't load features...

I have the same problem - there are no images in the main content areas.

blank.jpg

Possibly browser-related - right now I see the pics fine in Opera, but not in FF... Except the 'Feature' slideshow on the start page - that does not show anywhere...

EDIT:

Well, I got the pics back by specifically allowing "cloudflare.com" (in my NoScript settings)... the slideshow is still AWOL.

I tried...no...

Well, to sort this out for the troubleshooters:

1) Images will only show if "Cloudflare.com" is allowed in the script settings (which caught me by surprise about 2 or 3 days ago).

2) The feature slideshow on the start page does not show any images (no matter what settings or browsers I try).

* And yes - I just installed the latest FF, flushed my cache, etc...

That is, it depends on the site, not the browser settings, am i right?

Also true on FF17 which hasn't changed since it did work. Suggestions? (I cleared the cache, no effect.).

For the past couple of weeks I have now been getting error messages when I initially go the the forum. I cannot pin the exact time I noticed that this started happening, and had been waiting to see if others experience it, but perhaps I am the only one...

Typically, I am always signed in and go directly to the forum via the favorited link https://community.simtropolis.com/

However, now when I do so for the first time each session, just as the page is about to complete loading, I get the message, "Internet Explorer has stopped working," followed by a restart of IE and reload of the page with the follow-up message, "A problem with this webpage has cause Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab." I can then continue browsing the forum normally afterwards, but if I browse away from Simtropolis and then return to http://www.community.simtropolis.com/, I again get the error message and the crash/close/reloaded page.

If I instead browse to the home page https://www.simtropolis.com/ first, and then from there go to the forum, I do not experience the problem.

If I open multiple browser windows and browse the forum simultaneously on each, and then go directly to https://community.simtropolis.com/ at different times for each window, each individual window will be affected and reloaded separately.

This problem happens regardless of whether I am signed in or out, and continues even after clearing cache and flushing cookies.

Simtropolis is the only website among those which I visit for which I am now having this issue.

I am running Internet Explorer 9 version 9.0.8112.16421 on Windows 7 64-bit and it has worked fine previously. Microsoft suggested to try updating to Java 7 Update 9, as I was previously using Java 6 all along until this problem started, but updating such has not alleviated this issue.

(Yeah, yeah, we should all ditch IE, especially an older version, for Chrome, Opera, or FF...but that is currently not an available option.)
