This is my first post in Simtropia, but I have followed it for some time. The creativity you show is quite amazing. As far as the mod goes, it is a very innovative idea. It looks good and I think it would be good to finish. However, from the pictures, it seems that the cars are too close together (almost impossible for them to move). Perhaps leave some space between the cars, but aside from that it looks good.

Hello, Jeroni.

I do like your parallel parking mod.  It brings just that much more realism into SC4 and adds yet another great feature to use in the game.  As to the quality of your update?  I wish my cities looked as good as you think this update looks bad!

Hi, SpecialEddie.

Actually, many US cities have parallel parking in their inner cities -- sometimes on main city streets; sometimes on side streets; sometime everywhere you go.  Diagonal parking is a luxury of small towns that have space.  Most cities are going to use as much available space as they can and when it comes to parking, parallel is less space consuming.

Regards,

Vandy

Parallel parking looks great indeed. However, it is illegal to park on the curfew in the Netherlands (I can tell I have had tickets to proof it! 26.gif ).

In the high wealth residential area it looks like the mansions have big parties going on and the guests park allong side the street. mmmmm,...... as it looks now it is a bit too much. Maybe limit the amount of cars if that is possible. On the other hand the amount of cars in the poorer quater looks fine to me.

About those trees.

Nice. However, the trees are too big. If you can use smaler trees it would be perfect !

I like the carmod. Gives it an extra touch of realism in my opinion. And so does the trees. It gives the city more variety.

Well, I'd prefer actually having parking bays on the street. I wonder if that'd be possible when you're doing the parking... only fill up random tiles for parking. 3.gif

    Hello to all ,

yes, yes, this is the type of feedback I was looking for 44.gif !!!

Some things I should have said in yesterday´s update ( but it was sooo late 2.gif !!!!)

The game engine severely limits the options to park the cars on the sides. The streets are two ways, when in reallity ( at least where I live) they are usally only one way. That makes imposible to park the cars on the street side, so I have to park them in the sidewalk area. I know it is usually forbidden ( Nik-Nik) but there is no other way unless you want me to modd the Onewayroads´s textures to make them look like streets, then change all the pathing...make the T21 props...no no no, I dont have nor the time nor the strenght to make it this way 20.gif . So we will have to accept this limitation.

I am still figuring out how the transit props exactly work, but I know enough to be able to make separate set for the different zone/wealth types. The problem is that Maxis used some "wildcard" T21 lots which apply to all the zone/wealth type combinations. I´ll have to limit those "wildcards" and then make all the new necessary T21s.

My idea is to add the parked cars in the following zone/wealth combinations:

    Res/Com  LW  MD

    Res/Com  MW  MD

    Res/Com  LW  HD

    Res/Com  MW  HD

So there will not be cars parked on the Low density or High wealth areas at all. Or should I add the cars to the LW LD and MW LD areas too ?¿ I dont think the parked cars would fit in any High Wealth area at all.

I plan to add the trees in all zone / wealth combinations.

Your comments and suggestions about my initial idea will be greatly apreciated 18.gif

capitol1, I´ll test how the UDI works with the parked cars and I´ll let you know.

sloppet, update ?¿ who said update ?¿ Not everyday will be wine and roses 17.gif

threestooges, I put three cars per tile. There is no room for more, and if I put less, they will look too spaced 34.gif . I am sure the sims are good at parking 2.gif

Vandy, always nice to see you amigo !!!,  I agree with you about parallel parking, Also, the game only allows this posibility if you want to keep room for the trees / lights / pedestrian.

Nik - Nik,  read above for more info about the future of this mod 2.gif .  The trees are big, yes, but I love those big trees !!!. I have the say I used the smaller I have. I have been studying my city ( Palma de Mallorca) and there are usually many many big trees ( 20 or more meters ). There are also many small trees, but we have Maxis ones for those 3.gif !!!.  In fact I plan to add more trees to the streets. I love to see the cars going under the folliage....

Shadow_assassin, oarking bays would mean retexturing the streets, and I made it already once ( Diagonal dirty street mod). Enough for now 2.gif

Rayden, you are right, cars on the side ( or sidewalk) of the street is very common in the mediterranean "culture" 17.gif

To all, your comments and postive criticism is greatly apreciated. It is the best help I can have to develop a useful mod for the most part of the players, so keep saying what you think about this idea !!!

Yea the mod looks great... well I don't know anything about modding but... some part of the street / road should not allow side parking... some of them does... so would it be more realistic to have an "option" for mayors? Or is it too hard to do? Sorry I don't know it's just an opinion...

BTW... the cities for "Tests"... or "non-jeronijsh" as sloppet said... I don't know but they kinda look better than my cities already... sigh...

Hola...well in downtown LA, they usually have Parking Structures. And since traffic is bad in the downtown, lane space isn't usually used for side-parking. I'm not sure about parallel parking in your area though...seeing as I don't know your area.

    1.gif

AND btw, Jeroni, you continue to astound.

I really don't know enough about the programming to offer feedback on how to resolve the parking issue, but I like the fact that you are even trying to innovate with something subtle but valuable and realistic like parallel parking. You're right, in big cities, diagnol parking (or perpendicular anyway) only occurs on lots. We''ve got a lot of good talent to brainstorm some ideas. Keep up the good job!

The mod works actually the same for all density levels. Your feedback will be welcome !!!

As you can see, I used only Maxis buildings for this test.

I think it looks a litle to messy. In my opinion, thouse tree-models are way to big for streets.

HAven't posted in a long long time, only just getting back to doing it.

JeroniJ your work is still Fantastic! This mod is superb. I have one question: Is the type of car parked on the side of the road effected by the wealth of the neighbourhood?

Looking forward to more extravagant pic's.

Actually I dont think this is your quality at all. Im really a tad dissapointed.

first off YOU of all people should have finished developing your areas before you make mosaics, and I agree with meta with the trees. especially the ones in the tenement area. Im not saying youve done a bad job, its just a major setback in your quality.
