No the iron gates in front of some of your suburb streets.

I think you're talking about the post of clhigh7 ;)

He mentions:

I have been playing around with lot editor today and thanks to some wonderful props I tweaked the existing DH gated entrance and had fun building a couple new neighborhoods with it.

Your absolutely right! Sorry if I asked the wrong person. But those gates are awesome!!!

Here's a bunch of shots from a single suburb named Fairview that I've been working on. It's a city that has its own original small town grid going as well as the grid of its much larger neighbor Riverbottom, which is to the north (the side of the city most of the development is concentrated on). It sits at about 50,000 residents in an area of approximately 500,000:

EDIT: Totally just realized that this takes forever to load, so I've turned all the pictures into links.

My first uploaded picture, hope it works :)

A small community named Canal Village, I don't like gridded streets for residential, with a nice Minor League Ball park to the right,

I'm a rookie I know,

Is that named after the Woodlands, Texas, since that is a suburb (technically exurb). Even if its not, this is still a great city!

Yeah, I was just building and building  and then ran out of space, then I transferred my region to a larger map and had some extra space in the northern area and figured doing a little copy of The Woodlands would be a nice touch.

If you really want the full "town center" effect, you've got to mix in some larger buildings that abut the waterfront. The trend in suburban town centers is to move away from the traditional big-box store toward something that aims at a quasi-urban feel.

I am considering doing larger offices across the street. I was really going for more of an outdoor/outlet mall but Cypresswood Town Center is just the name. They have that in all sorts of strip center and big box developments all across Houston and Texas.

This is the middle of a large residential neighbourhood. This particular image is only residential. There are some massive developments (commercial) just out of the picture.

More in my CJ. :)

Here's a chunk of the better-done suburbs from a region I abandoned a couple years ago.  This one was part of an outlying city called "Iona Junction".

Here's a newly developing part of Solitude, the suburbia to the south of my city New Concorde.  Construction on a new segment of light rail was just completed.  The line will connect this area of Solitude to the urban area north of it with a park-and-ride lot and bus terminus.  As you can see, it's located near some major strip commercial developments, and new apartment buildings have already been built near the station.
