The Summit is great. Many of your other buildings are also superb. Good work with them, and keep them coming. :)

As always, top-notch work is to be expected from PD and now A Associates. Congrats to Ardecila on the prestigious honor!

And here's some more of that top-notch work.

Before I get too involved with veggie and pie cooking for Thanksgiving, I'll share this:

This is the Railway Exchange Building in Chicago. The orange square at the bottom represents a 3x3-tile square.

Ardecila, glad to see you joined a great team!  Maybe we'll see a few of those buildings in your thread soon.....

Good job on the Sante Fe building!  For those who don't know, that building is home to the architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill.  I'm really looking forward to seeing some more Chicago (and Portland).  Keep up the good work.

Thanks, guys.

The Santa Fe Building is not only the headquarters of SOM, but also the headquarters of the Chicago Architecture Foundation. It also held the personal offices of Daniel Burnham, and the offices of the Santa Fe Railroad (duh!).

Okay: next update on the Santa Fe. I added many textures, roof structures, and interior detail beneath the skylight. The next update won't come until the weekend probably, so I'll leave you with this.

In the next update, you'll get a night picture. I'm gonna add REALLY low-poly stuff on the inside (my machine is having a breakdown at 150k polys!) and light the windows, and I'm still not quite happy with that rooftop AC unit.

jt, would you mind rendering for me? I promise it won't get above 175k polys total.

wow! amazing job ardecila, about the AC unit, you might want to change the texture to make it look more metalic or rustic on what looks like is suppose to be vents? that might make it look better.

and yea i'll render it for ya! don't worry about polys, 175k polys is nothing compaired to some other things i've rendered, as long as you stay below a million 18.gif

also, are you planing on keeping the ground? it looks like just a plane..

again, beautiful job, any special night effects planed?

I'm not planning anything in the way of facade spotlights, if that's what you're talking about, but I will fully detail and illuminate the light shaft.
The Santa Fe sign glows brightly in night views.

The ground plane is just there to ensure that I don't model outside of the 3x3-tile limit.

Yeah, that texture is supposed to be vents. I used it cause it showed some interesting interior detail, but it looks like crap in the renders.

ok, cool, making fancy lighting can be a pain sometimes, and too much can make it look abit too gody lol.

i can also light the The Santa Fe sign for ya, in the same way i lit the made in oregon sign.

OK, modelling and lighting is done on the Santa Fe building. I'd share, but I can't render a preview.. 26.gif

I have also finished modelling on another building. It's pretty local to Chicago, and once I get it rendered, I'll post it here.

EDIT: Here it is.

haha, I was wondering when someone was gonna do the water tower place.. Ardecila, I see you are doing alot of Chicago buildings, as am I.. If you visit my thread on the BAT: Workshop forums youll notice I am doing a VERY detailed survey of the Chicago blocks and trying to recreate a large number of the downtown buildings in the BAT and eventually have a large percentage of downtown modelled to near exact specifications, allowing anyone to plop down the buildings and have a to scale chicago.

When you make a new Chicago building, can you please post in my thread which building you are doing so first of all, anyone on my team doesn't overlap with your work, and I can also give you my suggestion for the building size and lot size as inferred from the satellite images I have?

cool building ardecila! isn't that white castle?

if you're done with santa fe send it on over so i can render it! unless you're rendering it yourself, and if that's the case, then i can't wait to see it. keep up the great work!

TheeLord, looks like not only portland has a bating team, now chicago does too! how nice. i saw your thread, it looks like you're doing a great job on it so far. ;)

Perfect choice with the perfectly filled 3x3 lot. This entire block will be 6x7 in game. On a map it looks like a 7x7, but when you go to the satellite images, you can clearly see it would make sense for Michigan avenue to take up one block inside this block to make it a 6x7.
Great work, cant wait for this building to be released and add it to the region!
