  1. Good to hear, I was extremely disappointed in the way this was implemented also. I felt it showed a base-level misunderstanding of what fans of the genre wanted with the feature. I hope I am wrong! If this game was a bit more realistic (ie: harder), allowed me to build cities with tilesets enabled/disabled by date and district. And allowed chronological progression through the tilesets such as in SC4. And if it also fixed farms to be realistic and allowed for larger growables then 4x4 I think this would be an insta-buy for ALL DLC and would never be rivaled by another city-builder. Hope they can do it all!
  2. Feindbolds Buildings

very nice, can't wait for more rowhouse varieties. Your models all look great
  3. Nice looking apartment, and I rather like the house.
  4. I am in love with Cities: Skylines!! Buut.. I can't help feeling that their zoning and growable building sizes are holding this game back some. So my questions: #1- I hate the current way wealth and density interact. It appears to me that level 5 low density is equivalent to level 1 high density. Which makes NO sense in my mind. I much prefer SC4's Low, Medium, High density and then $, $$, $$$ wealth levels for each. It seems to make a lot more sense and would really allow for a lot of uniqueness in our cities etc... #2- Has it been determined if adding in zones (medium density zones for example, or "strip mall zone") would be possible? #3- Can we mod growable building sizes yet? Just curious if anyone has made progress on any of these by chance?
  5. Date based tilesets. Let us start in 1800s (or hell.. even earlier...) and have tilesets for every 50 years or so that allow us to have older parts of the cities and older buildings.
  6. Am buying now due to the good reviews here, I trust you guys =) And some out of the box mod support is awesome! I also know that Paradox does a great job with DLC. Very excited to try this out.
  7. Will you buy Simcity 2013?

It's far too restricting and not what I expect from Simcity, I will not be buying unless major changes are made to the design post launch.
  8. Simcity "Beta" review.

Thanks! pretty much all my suspicions after researching the game etc... Seems like a dumbed down simcity. I was going to pre-order, but will not be now. Heartbreaking really.. =(
  9. [NEXL] Network Expansion XL

can't wait guys, keep it up!!
  10. Modding in CitiesXL 2012

So they say CitiesXL 2012 has modding capabilities.. Has anyone seen an actual EXPLANATION of what they mean by this?? Different lot sizes/ shapes allowed?, able to import 3d models as buildings? UI modding etc...
  11. 8 - Near Banska Stiavnica

  12. Alcesia - Nearly Natural Growth

I don't have all the answers but here is what I can contribute for you: The NAM version 29 is the one that is current. The Street Addon Mod (SAM) contains textures for streets including dirt roads. The NAM now has many extensions which are dependent on it, and you would be wise to review this forum. This has a relatively large learning curve, and I suggest you create a new blank region (sandbox) to play in until you get the hang of things. TryPegasus productions for shore line stuff. There are others as well. Don't know if there are new tilesets. There are certainly lots of growable lots on the exchanges. Cycling through various puzzle pieces with the Tab/Shift Tab keys is a standard mechanism which is used by several add ons. Plopping a residential lot that has been created with the BAT still doesn't work. Besides the in-game renderer for prescribed maps, there are now some tools written by others. Check out this thread. I believe there is an organizing tool, but it doesn't run on my machine (I am on Linux). I simply do it manually by keeping two directories: A Downloads directory on an external disk containing everything I download from anywhere, categorized in sub-directories and the same structures as necessary in my Plugins directory within my <user>/Documents structure. If you hunt around, you will find a post where I set this out recently. The sub-directories are the key in my case. That covers the stuff I can tell you. Welcome back, and good luck. Oh, and have a walk through the Omnibus. Thanks Moose! I'll check all that out for sure.

I also am just picking up SC4 after about a 4 year break. What are some other really well developed addons that are available now? One of the reasons I quit before is because I had soooo much junk in my menus in-game it was nearly impossible to play so I am just going to start with a clean slate of addons. -Is there a dirt road addition to the NAM now? -What is the best seawall pack available now? -Has anyone ever figured out how to add more tilesets to the game in addition to the 4 available now from Maxis? -I saw people in youtube tutorials using hotkeys to cycle through different orientations of puzzle pieces from addons, is this an addon, or just a feature of the NAM etc...? -Is it still impossible to plop properly working residential buildings? -In some of the downloadable region maps I saw something about a tool needed to use the map, what is this exactly? -Is there any sort of tool to make organizing addons simpler?
