I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to just install any newer version over an older one; after all, the former would really just be the latter, but with more stuff.

At any rate, I'm quite grateful for all the work that's gone into this project; it's made for an excellent means of placing "pre-existing" interstate routes through my region, which would not have been practical if I had to do it with highways. It's also great for going through rugged areas. I can't wait until there are on/off ramps, not to mention puzzle pieces for road and rail overpasses and transitions to highways and avenues.

...Which reminds me, how're things coming along so far? It's quite alright if there's actually been no progress, especially since that's exactly what should be expected during any non-profit, spare-time project; I just believe that it makes things easier for all the involved parties when there's a few words about it given on something at least resembling a regular basis. Thanks in advance.

Does the current Rural Highway project just include that road-sized piece and the highway? (also, what page is it on at this point, can't find it?)

no, the "Alpha" release only has the highway components to work, no two directional networks.

The only overpass that currently works is just a simple road overpass.  Other than that, the network is fully transit enabled, and is a whole new highway network.  Just downgrade them to one way roads/aves for intersections or upgrade them to regular highways for interchanges.

This is a link to directly download the mod

It works and it will totally transform your city

(I sound as if im actually advertising it, werid)

Thanks haljackey... perhaps qurlix or a moderator could put that link on the first post, to avoid confusion 9.gif

Rather than intersections, are over/underpasses for the RHW going to be part of this project?  The only one that works is a road overpass but a Euro road version has not yet been thought of.

Is this ever going to be fixed?  Are overpasses going to be developed?

If you can not see this picture, try the link below!

As you can see in this picture, some kind of centre median would also be sutible! crossingsjul61511155742577mediumna5.png

Hey guys, im just going to spam my appreciation here. Im working ona rural region and the RHP works great, i needed two mjor roads leading to the small city on the coast, oone from the south east and one from the north east, the avenue and standard highway looks naff so the RHP is perfect for what i want to do.

My highway version is slightly different, 2-lanes, no shoulders, a simple concrete barrier in the middle, driveqays empty out onto to it. See "A Killer Highway Idea!" in the BAT requests board. It's really dangerous. Being redeveloped.

Can you branch roads and streets off of the RHW? That's one peeve I had with the default ground highways. Don't know about everyone else, but basically every highway in my area has streets that branch off of it, not just offramps.

Really? That doesnt happen in the NYC area. The above picture reminds me of a Jersey freeway with local and express lanes 4.gif

If your meaning the driveway for the Holiday-In Express connecting to the RHW in my picture above, I didn't intend for it to connect to the highway at all, just thought it looked there for visual appeal. If I could elimate that driveway, I would!

Roads/streets shouldn't branch off a freeway, but ramps should connect to them. The "free" in freeway means no intersections or obsitcles in the way, your free to drive without stopping. Any road with an intersecting road in it is not a highway, just a mere major road or country road.

The reason why I have 2 RHWs going in both directions is because the inner one is the main expressway bypassing my airport somewhere to the left of this picture. and the outer one is a "ramp extention", kinda what you find on Highway 401 in Toronto, Canada between the 403/410 and the 427 by the airport. The 409 has a simmilar system around the 427.

The RHW reminds me of the highways up in Albany, especially the NYS Thruway and the Northway. And that's why I would love for there to be a trumpet exchange puzzle piece(s), so that I don't have to make it out of one-ways.

I feel like a moron asking this but how do you create the 4 lanes in each direction?

Also have you fixed the problem with the conflict with the new bridges?

Stupid Question: How do choose what direction of travel each roadway provides? IOW, how do I do something similar to the "Jersey Freeway" I mentioned before about the previous picture. I dont know if this is the same question as the previous poster but its worth a try. Also, how do I make road overpasses?

To do that, you need to download the NAM and Rural Highway mod found here, and then drag two stretches of ANT next to each other, then drag a diagonal on the end of each piece, and then straiten it out, so that it is 4 tiles across. then drag two strips next to each other in the middle.

...Or somthing like that.  Play around with it for a while to set up a collector/express syetem kinda like a multi highway made by Lakeyboy

In my city, there is a section of the road, where it is 2 lanes on either side, no breakdown lane, concrete barrier in the middle, driveways can turn left on it, but cross-traffic does not stop.

Yet one more section to be adressed:

Draggable elevated networks (elevated highway, elevated rail, monorail) over the RHW casues the RHW to not look or function properly.  You can see in the pictures below.  Also, the inntemost lane is not working properly, or at all; as cars just magically dissapear when they drive under the network.  This is also not transit enabled.

(sorry, internet explorer users may have trouble seeing theese22.gif, try links provided)

build a "T" intersection instead of a cloverleaf, Skyliner. When it comes to ground to high highways however, and I have not found a way to cross them.

Sincerely

That intersection was done with avenues. The October release of the NAM provided many, many new combinations of avenue intersections. To reproduce that particular one, try making an avenue + intersection, then drag diagonally away from the center of the intersection to make the other two directions. It may also look special because the avenue transitions into ground highway and rural highway immediately to the South and North, respectively.

  • General questions, comments, or concerns about the mod should be directed to the NAM & Transit Networks Board.

Is the rural highay even finished?

Hmm, looking at the pictures posted by haljackey, I actually like the darker looking textures under the monorail.... Would make for a nice international texture, and would make the transfers between avenues/one-ways look pretty much seamless.
