OH WOW EXTRA NOISE!! Great job!! I've been anticipating to read your thread ever since I left!

This is magnificent, can't wait to see the textures!

Do you plan on making the textures exactly to the building? (That would be difficult)

Or do you plan on just making a similar material and wrapping the building in it? (easy)

Everything is perfect, it's unbelievable, I'm LOVING IT! Great job! ;)

We, stardust, are the oddest observers of self (a.k.a. the universe).

I'm just a group of atoms typing this.

What do I know?

Thanks for the kind words Kelly. :) I wouldn't be anywhere near this point without your help!

For the textures, I'm planning to use a combination of the two techniques you described. I will be using a very large texture that is specifically intended to be mapped in a cylindrical manner.

I guess the need for floors depends if you are planning to illuminate the floors with "real" lights or with the self illuminating option

    Continuing baby-steps:

    t05My.jpg

    - Added facade structure to the crown.

    - Added railing to the helipad.

    - Added window-washer tracks (but not rungs).

    - Adjusted window color/opacity/reflection.

    - Added early internal lights to test lighting.

    - Finished adding floors to all levels of the tower.

    - Adjusted color of "piller" membranes.

This BAT is looking great. It is amazing how much you have improved on your original version which was already impressive. In terms of scaling - I think whatever decision is made you need to make sure it would dominate the LA skyline. The original version does not - it looks marginally taller than the other downtown LA skyscrapers and kind of squat.

one thing though.. What color are your floors inside the building? (I recommend them making them pure white, It will lighten up your windows and give a better effect for reflection). ^_^

    Great job!...

Just two quick notes, the building looks some pink-orange color texture, not sure if thats the real life color... as I remember its more white, but great job on it... also dont forget making some reflections to it...

I think you should be worrying more about reflected environment on the windows than the interior. The reality of what is modeled inside is that it never looks as convincing as a well "faked" interior. That is, one that is represented in/on the glass and not by actual transparency. Nigtlighting is also WAY more efficient (and easy!) if you illuminate the glass (night material) and not the interior itself.

All that aside, this is really starting to come together! Lookin' good! ;)

Sorry for the lack of updates everyone. Work projects have been keeping me busy and for the last week I've been trying to wrap up updates to Quandary, a Minecraft texture pack I do. And my weekends have been consumed with building a new fence!

    Just really busy.

But if you're good, the Easter bunny may bring you a treat...

I wish everyone would stop bumping threads, asking silly questions, being impatient and general necromancy. If people want things to be created then have a crack at learning the creation process.

Also, there is a never made it to the STEX thread that can be used if you want to discuss something that hasn't been worked on for a long time..like this :)

    If the thread starter wishes

    and decides to come back

    with this BAT so delicious

he can get me on track

if he drops me a line.

    Until then, since I'm shocked

    at this bumpage sublime

I guess this wll be locked.
