It looks like there's some kind of issue where it's dropping the \ in your path and replacing it with letters. C:ggmaxggamepacksBBATsscripts isn't a place that exists.

I guess try again? Delete all the bat4max stuff, redownload it, and reinstall it.

I want to say that problem sounds familiar but I don't remember anything about it. You might be able to find something somewhere in this thread though.

I came across a strange issue with BAT4Max the other day....

I rendered my model using the method I'm used to that worked in the past, but since I switched to Windows 8, something strange happens: it does render all views properly and creates FSH-files as it should do. Where it goes wrong is inserting the FSH-files. When I open the model with the reader, instead of FSH-files, I only get UI files without any IDs, that will make the Reader crash when you try to read these entries. I have to manually insert the FSH-files. Anyone came across this issue and if so, how can you fix it?

Best,

Maarten

Nothing of that worked. :(

So nobody knows? :( Isn't there a way to manually add bat4max?

Hi,

first of all, great work this Bat4Max. I've used it many times now, it is great.

But there is some bug I get on my laptop (with Win7 sp1):
Sometimes the Group number of the TGI reference of the material in the s3d file get mixed up (see picture). For 8 of 16 s3d files this number is still the standard maxis 1abe787d.

Eventhough all the FSH files themselves are inserted correctly, it shows a part of some maxis building in game in half of its rotation views.

It already goes wrong in gmax, when making the empty sc4 model file.

Only fix I've found is completely start a new scene, import things, aply materials again and start exporting again also.

Do you know what's going on? Or should I just learn to live with it. Maybe you can help me.

Thanks and Gr, Wouter.

At SC4Devotion.com you can find the Maxis downloads and one of them is the texture fix for gmax.  That should help.

And to anyone else who might be having this problem, especially gmax users, only ever export something from a gmax scene once, or as few times as possible.  Every time you export from gmax one of the numbers gets higher and eventually when that number gets higher it starts going into the range of the Maxis buildings.  This doesn't apply as much to people using 3ds Max who are only opening gmax once to make their .SC4Model file though.  :)

I'm downloading 3dsMax 2011 Student Version right now, what version of BAT4MAX is it compatible with?

So, when it gets to the point of exporting, I click the 'export LODs' button, and nothing happens except the error chimes. No error message, just a "hey, don't click that". I've exported the LODs manually, but the same happens when I click the other buttons - "select target model" etc. Can anyone suggest a fix? I've set the rig and done the LODs - What step have I missed out? If it's any help it says "library not loaded" under the buttons, but the materials are showing up fine in previews...

Restarting fixed it the next time, sod's law. Still only exporting a multicoloured box though...

Hi.

I'm having some issues. In my exported file I only see parts of the Building in zoom 5 and those parts are not properly placed. But they look fine in preview.

Maybe it has to do with SD/HD settings because I don't understand this. I see no SD/HD switcher in BAT4MAX, except for previews. I also have no SD/HD setting in BAT, only Draft, Low, Medium & High.

I suppose I don't need to do some previews, before exporting.. or?

Check earlier in the thread, that's a well documented problem.  :)

I've jus tskim-read the whole thread and can't see a reference to this problem. I've seen something about it but making sure not to save the file once there's an SC$Model file name in the box doesn't help either. I've just tried it with this texture fix in the scripts folder at someone's suggestion - still no joy... running the script just brings up an error, so I'm not sure what else I should be doing with it...

I leave you with my BAT.

Have you fully updated 3D Studio? I've ran into this problem when starting BATting again with 3D Studio 2012, where after rendering, the FSH files couldn't be inserted into the Model files. Updating solved the problem

Good shout. Do I need to install all these updates or just the latest one I wonder?

Not sure how many people we've had to help with this problem... everyone seems to miss the little line at the bottom of the STEX upload that says you need the update for Max 2012. Which is understandable I guess... it's not that clear as to what you need to do.

I've added an unmissable part to the first post of this thread... hopefully no one else will get caught out. :P

Hope the ghost of SimFox won't mind me uglying-up his post...

Maybe you can add also that with 3dsmax 2010 - 2011, you need to download and apply the "Service Pack 1" and "Service Pack2" Updates, in order to prevent many rendering and export problems. :golly:

(I don't know about 2012 as I don't use it)

Oops! Well I'd re-read that post a few times - coming back to the problem with months in between - and missed that, so my bad I guess! Sorry everyone :D
