Yes, but there's hurricane prone and then there's hurricane prone. We can get hurricanes in Connecticut, but it is rare, and the one we may get every so often is one of the weaker ones. Last time a hurricane hit New England was 20 years ago (Hurricane Bob), and it was a cateogry 2. Never in recorded history have we seen anything higher than category 3. We don't have to worry about dealing with an Andrew or a Katrina up here.

2176 - Good point Duke, also there is almost no chance of a hurricane hitting California. Once I believe that a tropical depression dissipated a hundred miles off the coast, but earthquakes are way worse then hurricanes, and is a reason why I'll never live in California.

Also, there have been cat 3 north of Boston, look at Hurricane Alex 2004.
