Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasi's certainly a big one...

IDE00035.201102010330.jpg

That's it up in the top-right. Looks like I might get some rain down here in the Gold Coast. I'll just be getting the southern edge of the cloud, not the main cyclone.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Yasi is looking impressive today!

sp201111_sat.jpg

Pretty much Cairns-Townsville will be hit badly by this mega storm. Due to the fact it hasnt quite made contact with land, its still very possible of reaching a category 5 status prior to landfall..

Icy conditions in Pittsburgh. But compared to the rest of the country, this winter has been rather mild. There has been plenty of snow but it has been spaced out so as not to cripple the region.

Pfft...tropical storms. We've apperently got the biggest snow storm in..many years. 30 ft waves on Lake Michigan are expected too. So it's kinda like a tropical storm...just not. 3.gif

Well, I guess our storms are just a little more *puts sunglasses on* Pacific.

Although, more seriously, it's pretty bad already. 10mph isn't really going to make much difference at this point. It might get there though.

2 hours, 30 minutes until Impact. Australia (and Queensland in particular) are going to wake up tomorrow to a scene of devastation.

@ Astro, well you're in the "Normal" range but not "Optimal" which is 120/80 3.gif

@ Larks read above it's a good thing

Well, I'd rather have hypotension than hypertension. Not that I have either. I occasionally have spells of orthostatic hypotension, but that's nothing really important.

And optimal blood pressure is <120/80, not just 120/80.

Yasi's eyewall is almost 500km long! Thats huge for a tropical cyclone making landfall!

Pretty much Townsville-Cairns is getting hit by the eyewall, the eye made landfall south of Innisfail, but the entire cost up from Mackay is being affected.

    yasilandfall1.png

    yasilandfall2.png

Winds are 5mph off cat 5 strength in the Atlantic hurricane scale..almost made it.. Doesnt make a difference really, a tropical storm can be more deadly/costly then a tiny major hurricane, same goes here, a huuuge category 4 can be way more deadly/costly then a tiny category 5.

(no doubt that if Yasi had more ocean, it would be a super storm in a few hours)
