There's no mention of Tropical Cyclone Yasi on the Bureau of Meteorology's weather warnings website... or for any cyclones right now, for that matter. There's one on the four-day forecast though, so they'll probably put a warning up soon.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

No clue. I really don't get why we even need to give them names couldn't we just refer to them as "Cyclone X" "Hurricane Y" etc? 3.gif

Frdm: Media (saves confusion, we retire names to respect the dead people (if there was tons) or the country that got devastated by it, also if it is a record breaking storm in a country ie "Worst ever, worst in 100s of years")

astro: Watches are issued 72 hours before landfall. Warnings 24 before landfall.

Eh, I tend to prefer standard format designations. Something like, say, this: year-ocean-number-class. So, the second storm in the pacific in 2011 would be 2011-P-02-TS. We can use "A" for Atlantic and "I" for Indian oceans. And at the end, TD = Tropical Depression, TS = Tropical Storm, H1 = cateogry 1 hurricane, H2 = category 2 hurricane, etc.

This is superior to names since the meaning can be derived immediately and each storm's designation is unique.

All I know is that the Phillies definitely have a better team than the Braves. Comparing to the Yankees isn't entirely relevant since they're in the other league... but that's still a brash statement. Care to back it up?

It's never going to stop raining! It's going to keep raining through all the holidays, like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Florida!

See? I told you guys Florida was a holiday. Which proves the existance of Santa, because Larksy lives in Florida, meaning he lives in a holiday land. That means holiday lands exist, and because Christmas is one of the biggest, Santa must be real and live in Christmas Land.

    Yes, this is kitty.

2028 - I live in a land of rocks and trees and freshwater. 3.gif

Anyways, Yasi is 2011s third major hurricane. 115mph winds, expected to barely reach cat 5 strength prior to landfall. It will be moving very very slowly, so damage will be extensive.

...I would be running away from this storm if I lived between Townsville and Innisfail

2100 (we got thrown off back there)

The thing I like about Cleveland is the way they label their streets. A sign tells you what the cross street is going to be with plenty of time to make the turn. Very handy for out-of-towners.
