I have an aunt and uncle who, a few years ago, were planning on getting everyone iTunes gift cards for Christmas. I of course made it clear that this was unacceptable and that if they gave me one I would be burning it (only thing I am willing to do with anything made by Apple). They got me a gift card to Borders instead. :]

EDIT: Don't know how that happened... :P 6963

I'm with you there! I'm a PC. Speaking of which, I got a new laptop with Windows 7. 8)

Anything you like made in the past ten years? I'd recommend Weird Al.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Weird Al is funny, but parody music is too one-off. Not worth owning because it's not worth listening to after you've already heard it unless you're showing it to someone.

Never nor would i want to listen to him, with his disrespect for rappers.

I'm glad Ghostface Kilah punched weird Al in the jaw.

I have an iPhone. In order to use most apps of any use, I need to pay for them. I do NOT want them to know my financial information so I use iTunes Store gift cards. I do not pirate music and there are no record stores nearby. Therefore, I either consolidate all my music (and friends' music) onto the computer I sync with my phone. Hit up all the supermarkets for CD's I like, or download some songs from iTunes. I have downloaded over 100 songs from iTunes (50 of them from an $8 album of the 50 most essential classical songs (which include baroque, classical, romantic, jazz, and blues).

On the topic of Weird Al. I like him. He always asks permission from artists before making spoofs of their songs. He spoofs more pop than rap so I don't find him disrespectful of Rappers.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

I have a small selection of music purchased on CD since 2000, but I think I can probably count them on two hands. After seeing how much time it took to be up-to-date on music and how much money it took away from buying comic books (which are infinitely cooler- what? STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT) I decided that new music wasn't worth the time and effort. I do like music, but my taste could probably be best described as a complete lack of any.

I have obviously never downloaded anything from iTunes. I tried Amazon MP3 out, but found myself quite displeased with their cockamamie method of downloading files and will not be using it again in the future. Other stuff I've paid to download has all come from smaller more independent distributors (CDFreedom, MerchDirect, etc.) which are far more civilized with how the service works. Otherwise I just buy the CD (how old fashioned, right?).

Ocram, protip: even if there are no record stores nearby, FedEx will come right to your door.

We've already covered this, that's not something that actually happened. If it did happen, there's a good chance it, and the subsequent assault charge, would at least have a passing mention here. Or here. Or there would be an article somewhere online. And there isn't.

And Weird Al has great respect for all musicians. He asks for permission to parody songs, which he is not required to do. The only time this did not happen was because of a miscommunication (he was told permission had been given when the musician hadn't been asked), and that was with Coolio, not Ghostface Killah.

Now could you please stop saying that Ghostface Killah puched Weird Al?

I think I may have once, but it was quite some time ago.

I wonder if I'm older than you guys. I remember my parents had a phone like that back when MTV still played music videos and David Lee Roth was still wearing spandex and leaping around for Van Halen and being awesome while doing it.

According to your profile, you're 10 years older than I am.

I used one but it was an antique and my grandmother had a regular one also. Now she uses a cordless.
