Bus driver missed my stop on the way home -_-

Turns out though, it actually ended up benefiting me because where he did stop was right in line with my street :P

Marching band was awesome. I rather miss it. We had to march in the summer late in June because we had Community Days, complete with a parade and some crummy fireworks.

I used to have a Jeep, but I left it in RWD with the cruise on while it was sleeting and spun it around and killed it on I75 near Saginaw. I was sad to see it go, but oh well. It led me to buy a Subaru Impreza, and now I will never drive anything other than a car graced by the Pleiades. Unfortunately my company car now... Well, let's not talk about that, okay?

I try to not go at 88mph unless I need to. Last time I did I ended up in 2119.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Being in a car and getting hit by a train is not necessarily instant death. A couple years ago here in Stamford some teenage girl got hit trying to beat the train at a crossing that had lights and bells but no gates. Not only did she survive, she walked away.

I of course consider this to be an utter failure of natural selection.

Someone tried that several years ago in Fresno; Their car got crushed and I think they died(but that was years ago and so I don't remember).

The other day while I was nowhere near any tracks, a car passed me that had swapped out its horn for a train horn. I thought to myself "Hmm, train must be coming... wait a minute."

Doesn't sound legal, but what do I know?

There are arms at basically all railroad crossings where I live (Japan), but the lights give you a good minute or two of blinking and bonging before the train actually comes. Beyond that, EVERYONE MUST stop when they come to a crossing. This apparently even applies when a train has just gone by and people can start moving through the crossing again. I believe it's a law, because I never see anyone NOT stop.

Well after thinking about it, there is no way for me to know what vehicle it was that had the horn but I would suspect it was the Ford truck I saw. Either an F-250 or F-350. Now you train enthusiasts may have seen those trucks that are rigged up with train wheels so they can drive on the tracks. Personally, I have no idea why they have those but I've seen them. It may have been one of those and it was just driving down the road and messing with other motorists. Beats me. It was loud as all heck though.

Having a law against going through a crossing when the lights are blinking is silly. I mean, really, what's going to weigh more heavily on my mind? "Gee, I might get a ticket" or "Gee, I might get my brains splattered across the tracks"? If there needs to be a law against it to dissuade you from doing it, you deserve to get hit by a train.

It's a $150 fine to go onto the tracks at all at a train station, regardless of whether or not a train is coming.

As for it being illegal, some people regard the risk of being hit by a train is less than the few seconds to minutes you gain by running the light.

We hold the record for longest train - 7.353km, weighing 99,734 tons.

I have seen some cases where drivers go around lowered gates to save time. But most of the time, these imbeciles end up getting hit by an oncoming train. Not only is it illegal in all states, but it isn't worth it to risk your life or break the law just because they were too impatient to wait 5 minutes or less.

When wandering around the tracks over here, you risk only to hear a loud (And very friendly) version of "Get off there!"

The nice thing about living where I do is that there aren't a whole lot of rail crossings. Too many hoots and hollers as opposed to flat land. Around here they just build yet another bridge.

There are a lot of crossings here with no rails either side of the road, only on it. Thats coz then they can rebuild the railway when they want. Smart moves.

We have the one line running through town, and I believe with the summer travel season we're up to about two or three trains an hour, although when I first got here in April it was once an hour. Japan's a different place from the States. A lot fewer drivers, none of them teenagers.

There are 2 lines running through here. Amtrak's Capital Corridor runs through here between Auburn and San Jose and Union Pacific Freight also runs through here. I am live close enough to these lines to where I can here the trains pass by.
