There are lots of rail tracks that loop back on forth across the road around here, basicly at every intersection off a strech of a major road called the Dixie Hwy and if you go up huge roads like Military Trail and Andrews Ave, all of which are always really congested and people fly though the crossings.

There is also a museum-track some kilometers away from my house, trains normally pass on sathuardays and sundays only (maximum 4 a day) but sometimes irregular freight trains pass through as well, the crossings are only minimally secured (Warning&stop- signs and ground markings) Many drivers ignore them and speed over the crossings, someday one of them will get hit. And I bet this will happen during the week when another freight train passes by. On weekends most of the car drivers stop at the crossings.

The train station I go to is a 25 minute drive from my house. The closest station is a 15 minute drive, but parking is more expensive and less convenient there, and the train schedule doesn't match up quite as well with when I'm looking to get to and leave work. (the ride from either station to Grand Central takes basically the same amount of time)

Infinitely less boring than rap. :P

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

There's good music from every genre, including, as much as I hate to admit it, rap. For example, "U Can't Touch This" and... um... I can't think of any other ones.

1. I have not been keeping up with this thread.

2. I no longer care about inflating my post count.

3. I am very busy with college.

4. I had some ideas.

5. I assume most people are aware of user-created content encyclopedias ("wikis").

6. I wondered if people on these forums would be interested in discussing what impact that wikis had on them.

7. I wondered about certain themes in movies, especially those for children. Where the main characters are "Living" Machines, Appliances, and Vehicles also known as "Animate Inanimate Objects" and what Logic governed those worlds.

8. So I am here now to ask for advice on whether I should create threads on these two topics.

So, what do you think?

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

As for wikis, TVTropes has ruined my life. :P

Wikipedia is, at the very least, a good jumping off point for research.

I've quoted the Kingdom Hearts Wiki, and still got a High Distinction for the assignment. It was a physics assignment about simulating a three-body system.

Wikipedia was new enough my freshman year to not have gotten notorious yet. My art professor didn't think to mention it until after she handed our papers back, at which point she noted "it's okay to use it as a source for basic facts, like when someone was born, but in the future don't use it as a source for more in depth stuff".

Then senior year my engineering economy and law professor was laid back enough that I could point to Wikipedia side by side with other more reliable sources and have it not be an issue.

This of course would not have flown in either of my English classes, where they were more serious about doing things "properly".

I did cite Wikipedia as a source for my last assignment, although it wasn't for a major part of it. I just needed it for a brief explanation of how a magneto-optical trap works. For the major parts I relied mostly on scientific papers.

3987, probably higher by now.

I used to have Encarta. What happened to it?

After searching, I found that Encarta is gone.

Encarta used to be considered a better tertiary source of information than Wikipedia.
