Looking at the base I'd say we have a winner! 4.gif

As for the gravel texture, you can view your BAT straight from above, take a screenshot of the rooftop, and use that screenshot as a template in GIMP: Simply take the outlines of the roof section (and everything that's on it, like pipes and stuff) and "paint" the texture inside these outlines - then you'll have a texture bitmap that's tailored to that particular surface. Back in max, slap it on your roof, and that should be it. At least that's more or less the old school method. I dunno if you can achieve the same entirely with material settings etc. in max, I'm not an expert when it comes to that.

By the way, I admire your dedication and your perseverance - you are clearly willing to get the best out of this BAT, and this just marks the line between good and great. I'm sure this BAT will be great when it is finally done, and every bit of trouble you took will be worth it. 29.gif

I'm tempted to say I'm done with the day view but five minutes from now I'll find something else I don't like.  How does this look?

Yep, found a few things wrong. Max lost some plants at some point and the elevator core of the building is no longer red. It's now white with a giant chase symbol thats back lit at night.

I think once you iron out those problems, the day view isn't going to need improvement beyond that point. the building itself looks just too amazing to ignore.

That's odd...do you think that is kinda like the texture glitch in Gmax where the texture would go missing(appear a solid color)? Then you would have to re-find or apply the texture?

By the way, I guess you're serious about making that BAT perfect with a little copy right notice in the corner...3.gif

Sorry I should have worded that better. What I meant was that the building used to have a bright red elevator core in RL but since JPMorgan Chase bought it, they painted it white and put a giant steel chase emblem on it. About the copyright thing, technically once you create intellectual property it is yours under US copyright law, but they advise you to use that format as discouragement to people that would want to claim it as their own. All I'm saying is that I've put a ton of work into this so I don't want anyone else trying to take credit. It was mainly because I posted it on facebook as well.

What, I thought about post some of my bat pictures and my drawings on facebook to, but I did not know what people would stay about it. Good thinking on the copyright when you post things on differnet websits besides Sim City 4 websites.

Here's the building with the changes that JPMorgan Chase made a couple years ago.  As far as I know this is how it looks today.

Well I'd have to make 1:1 bitmaps for each of those and the ridges on them. That might take a long time.

    What about this?

    270s5.jpg

I guess that wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.  Theres a couple tiny details I'd like to fix, but I think I'm done after that.

As far as I am concerned, we can gladly leave it at that and call the day render done. 4.gif

Thanks guys!   9.gif   Well I'm almost done.  I found a couple things I didn't like when I exported it last night.  It took 12.5 hours  o_O  oohhh well, looks like I better start saving for a computer with dual x5680 cpu's and dual v9800 gpu's so I can cut that down to under an hour.  Anyone want to donate to my cause?  I still need around $15k.  xD  hahahah

This is seriously one of the best BATs I've ever seen! I can't wait to see this up close and personal in the Lot Editor.

Hey guys I've run into a small issue with the lights. I thought it would be easiest to make one night material for illuminated windows, so I used a multi/sub map with four multi/sub maps on it since there's a limit of 20 maps for per multi/sub map and I wanted more than 20 window materials. Apparently that didn't work. Despite having 80 maps for night windows max is only using a small number of them. I have all of the multi/sub maps set to random so I didn't think it would be an issue and I'm certain all the settings are right, but apparently max still won't use all of the maps.

Here's zoom4 at night.  I didn't have time for zoom5.  I tried using glare under the camera shader output, but it just made everything very blurry.  I'm not really sure if I should use glare anyway.  I'm pretty happy with it as is.  See anything I've missed?

I think the night light are truly amazin, but I think you should make the night light glass look a little glassy like , I think it need to match the glass that is not using the night lights, what do you think, you think I'm wrong about it or not?

Hmmm... I'm not sure what you mean Aaron.  Anyway, here's zoom5.  Since I can't use a ton of randomized bitmaps for the lit windows I need to make the ones I have less specific.  Also, they might be a little too bright, and I need to change some stuff with the lit chase emblem.  Maybe get glare to work...  but otherwise I like it.
