Thank you for this lovely previews. It feels as it isn't scaled 133%, is it?

Also, have you agreed on exporting, will it go all or will it be assembled in LE? And as far as modding goes, have you thought of purpose of it in-game? Maybe something more than Landmark? I can't think of anything you can need from me, but if you do I'm at your disposal. Feel free to ask anything from me. I just want to say I support you 100%. And please Cockatoo, update as much as you can, whenever you add anything post, please?

All the proportions are unscaled at the moment - if we do choose to upscale the building, it'll be the very last thing we do.

For exporting, I believe we are going to export the grounds and buildings separately and re-construct them to form a lot - a little like they did with the WTC complex. We'll get to that stage a little later.

Modding, I was thinking three or four versions, growable CO$$, plopable CO$$ (maybe), landmark (for sure) and reward (for sure).

Any yeah, I'll try to update as often as I can!

Thanks for your support. This is more of an open project, so I think BAT Open Discussion would be best.

Another qusetion, is there going to be a CAM version, this building Looks like it can hold a lot of people, the Empire State building in the game can hold up to 100,000 Sims and the Chrysler Building can hold up to 90,000 Sims, for this building I think it can hold up to 50,000 to 70,000 Sims, if you put that many Sims in this building, I know I need to make some near by apartments to support this huge building.:ohyes: I have been thinking on getting back on the Beekman Hotel Tower some day. I'm sure that building can support the UN Building just a little.:ohyes: I just hope it does not hold a small number of people, this project is worth 10 to 20 high rise office buildings.

The modelling phase is coming to an end... only some minor detailing and the library are left to do now.

I'm in serious need a gardener though... flora is a very important part of the lot and I feel I can't do it justice.

If you can do trees, and would like to be a part of this project, I'd really like to hear from you!

Looks great, I would love to help out but my hands are so busy on my bat creations and plus, I not really a tree building type of guy.

Girafe and Harishna both make good realistic trees :)

Glad to see you working on this, it's been quiet round here but looks like a lot of good stuff is coming out of hibernation!

I'm with you on the trees. Trees are probably the hardest thing to model, but bushes and hedges can be very simple. Just apply a subdivide modifier to the poly that you want to be a bush. Something around 0.1m sections is good. Then apply a noise modifier. Select "fractal" and make the roughness 1.0. Then just play around with the scale, iterations, and strength, since they will depend on the type and size of bush/hedge.

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

This is amazing, I've already know where I'm going to place this ons in my city. I don't care how much time it takes to get it done, already looks perfect and with more work will be an epic BAT and a great adition to the game.

Started making some flora myself today... and this is what we get 4.5 million polys later...

    UNB20_thumb.png

I've actually started using 2012 to work on this, which based on my experiences so far is WAAAY better at handling and rendering huge scenes that its predecessors.

2010 crapped out half way through trying to preview this, but 2012 made it through easily. Moving around in viewports is a lot easier with big scenes (not as laggy) and it visually smooths out stuff in the viewports too (which looks really nice). It's got native support for the SketchUp format and best of all, it’s backwards compatible. It might even be a little faster to load up and it definitely feels lighter on the system - other programs seem faster to respond while it renders. If you work with big scenes, get this version!

Anyway, still a bit of a work in progress, still more trees and cars to add.
