i have an idea for this forum... we need to create another one but put it in the city journal section where one person can do pics... create pages where it is one vs. another pic... in this forum folks will submit their photos then the person running the comp will take those photos and put them the picture competition journal... in the cj section is where the actual voting will take place and then we create a 3rd forum for the winners... that way it's not all over the place...

to recap:

1. submit your photos in this section

2. they will be put against another photo in the cj section where the people vote on the pics (each page is this vs that)

3. the winners will be put into a hall of fame photo section where the winner tells a little about the photo

EDIT: Whoops! I accidently skipped over Tyson's post. My bad. That's a great idea, but the maintainer will have to spend a lot of time on ST. But that would be better and more fun. Awesome idea!

@tyson idea is a good one, i would only say that the second point has no need, we can make it all in the forum sections taking a part of the constest to the CJ section could make it more chaotic.

i would also propose 2 aditional thins,

1° if we could get a moderator or an active user to "manage" this post it would be awsome and would reduce the chaos.

2° put in place a few rules about

a.) how to vote, so we have a standar on how to do that, (example name : 1 - name : 3)

b.) how much time for the voting? it can happend that none of the pics get enough votes to win by 10 votes. so 24 hours? 2 days? ideas?

i do think this would be a great adition to the comunity and would help improve it

keep uploading pictures to this thread... i had an additional idea..

1. not this vs that... but have 10 photos from 10 different users every week to pick from. a larger voting pool would be less over-whelming than one page every day for 2 photos, could give everyone a chance to contribute, and every 10 weeks we could have a showdown of the best of the best

2. each week will have a different page in the cj section with 10 photos and their creators names and what they are intending to show taken from pictures in this section (i like the cj section because one can post the 10 images and cites and not be cluttered up with post saying 'that one' in between)

3. the winner will be evident from post voting and an 11th picture is added at the bottom of the page to denote the best of the 10

it would be nice to have a weekly picture contest to vote on... and even just go back and see the nominees from week to week could really spark some good ol' creativity

Let's start Tyson's idea. I think it's needed BADLY. This could be fun, but right now it's overly chaotic. And BTW, as of now, let trainguy's pic take over mine. I'll bet 20 bucks mine will lose.
