boredtodeath:  1) An innovative design, but I think a volleyball would be better -- it takes up no more space and has no weaving.

2) Put in some 90 degree smooth curves and it'll be perfect.

I have a monster of mine to show. In going through East Augusta, I could take no more of that weaving stretch. So, I completely rebuilt it into a monster collector system:

And here is a linkup to a nearby turbine interchange:

74559285ke3.jpg

24 lanes at it's widest, it is one of the most complex freeway systems ever designed in Patian County. There is virtually no weaving on this thing.

It is also the widest stretch of freeway I have ever built.

It is designed to provide all-around access to both the turbine and the parclo, to both collector and express lanes; a most complex situation, that required a complex solution:

And there are more on the way.

Please post comments and suggestions.

thx

Haljackey: Wow. It must be very shocking to shock a transit master like you 1.gif.

Yeah_Right: A perfectly sensible request. But I need more specifics -- is it One-Way Road or 2-Way Road?

Very nice interchanges here! And still there are always new ideas 19.gif.

Anyways, I messed around again and came up with some new creations.

A space saving variant of an RHW - Ave+GLR connection:

IC - GLR+Avenue connection

Y-split of RHW:

RHW Y-split

RHW Y-split with curved parclo avenue interchange:

Y-split + Ave IC

These are older creations of a Multi-Highway interchanges using Big Dig lots.

Cloverleaf (weaving, but no interweaving between collector and express lanes):

Multi-Hwy Cloverleaf

A big Avenue - Multihighway - Road interchange, again with Big Dig lots:

Av - MultiHwy interchange

More experiments with RHW; a Cloverstack interchange:

RHW Cloverstack

A full RHW stack interchange, orthogonal version:

ortho full RHW stack

... and a diagonal version:

diag RHW stack

I (sometimes heavily) used the method found out by metarvo to  link diagonal RHW with OWR. (link to intersection thread). Thanks for the discovery.

As always:  Have fun 9.gif

McDuell:  Whoa! 6.gif Those are some of the very best interchanges I have ever seen!  Truly some fantastic work! 44.gif44.gif44.gif

Love the stack interchange!  I remember Mightygoose made one but he had to convert the RHW to a two-way road for curves and diagonal segments.  I'll have to read about metarvo's discovery.  I have no idea how he got the diagonal-GLR in ave to connect to a RHW, so I'll have to play with it.  The diagonal stack and the cloverstack look fantastic as well as the others you posted!

Amazed is an understatement McDuell!  4.gif Excellent job! 31.gif

    Best,

Whoa! I'm really blown away from those interchanges! I really, really, REALLY do love them! The only problem: my map only has small spaces to make them! 9.gif

    Great job! Fantastique!

    OMG those are all awesome!

OK, serious now. Patricius, that's still cool every time I see it...

McDuell, you have reached the ranks of Patricius Maximus and Haljackey when it comes to those interchanges! Those are spectacular, and I'm saving the links to those to use as inspiration.

McDuell: Now that is fantastic. I like the cloverstack and stack the best.

DTP: I'd say he reached that 'rank' a while back. But McDuell also gives me about 3 ideas.

Hehe. Guess it's my turn to be amazed. But I have a new spur in the works for Patian County, so stay tuned to the Patrician Showcase (I post it there first, it may wind up here later 2.gif).

patricius, it is two way road.

so yeah, the RHW is 2 lanes, (one on each side), with a two way road running parallel to it,

i am really bad at RHW so yeah, thx

btw, is there a way to get RHW to show on transport maps in region mode?

    regards

RHW cannot show up on the transport map, as the transport map is contained in the .exe file, and altering it is a crime.

So the parallel road is a 2 way road. This is the most simple connection I can come up with:

    A.jpg

It only involves 5 puzzle pieces.

For more complex connections, see my own Patrician Showcase.

No, the ANT wasn't far enough in devolepment, I guess that was still on their to-do list.

xena99: It's quite simple. All you need is the NAM installed, then just draw a normal intersection. Then draw diagonals right through it. Then you'll have it.

I seem to have seen that before too... Must be a weird coincidence. But that is a cool interchange. You should post the old H22/Capiliano Ave. interchange. That was awesome.

Thanks for all your praises. This echo is overwhelming; I really feel very flattered 43.gif.

Haljackey: Wow, the second shocked expression of the master of transit network in one single page 1.gif.

I too remember that stack from Mightygoose now after you mentioned it, but I couldn't find it anymore. About the diagonal connection: it's not that difficult once you got the hang with it. I whipped together a small explanation how I did it.

    diag RHW to OWR

    Single direction:

    1. Place 2 diagonal GLR-in-Av pieces next to each other and delete one of it afterwards.

    2. Puzzle Piece (PP) after deletion of it's neighbor

    3. connect the RHW with the PP

    4. connect the OWR with the PP

    Voilà, you're done.

    diagonal RHW to OWR

    Double direction:

    1. Place the diagonal PP directly to the ending stub of the RHW. This also works very well at the ends of the gentle RHW curves.

    2. Place the opposite PP and connect all 4 sides.

    3. Make sure you connected both RHW parts with the PPs, then place a 3rd PP as shown in the picture. Now, delete it.

    4. Mind that you can't just reconnect the side where you placed the 'helper' PP if the connection get broken. In that case you will have to redo the whole transition again. This problem occurs whenever the helper PP is put perpendicular to the main transit lines.

Yeah_Right: There is kind of a workaround with showing the RHW in Region view. Save the city with the DrawPaths cheat active, this will draw the paths into the miniature as well. The drawback is that you also see the path in the satellite view.

Beebs: This is a nice one. I especially like the rest stop and the way this interchange is integrated into the topography.

McDuell: Some minor resizing needed there...

I have a new Semi-Directional T variant, for my new spur. It has been recently featured in the Patrician Showcase:

A good tutorial, McDuell. I didn't know that was even possible.

    That's a nice semi-directional T, Patricus Maximus. It's nice and compact.
