Yeh, the news of today made me a little and I got my excitement back. I really hope that the busses will become some kind of free tycoon game or something interesting. That would be awsome.

Everyone in game told me that buses are indeed going to be available for everyone. I just hope they don't ultimately make everyone pay like with WoW.

I feel cheated too and even stopped playing until bus system and mass transit is released.

I still have hope for Monte Cristo games, I've been satisfied with their products....up until CitiesXL.

Mass Transit should be availble for all players not exclusive to the planet offer.

That would make a lot of people angry and Monte Cristo is going to lose customers.

I myself will uninstall the game if they make it only for planet offer and never buy their products again. Ever.

I haven't lost hope in them though and hope a solution will be reached on this problem soon 4.gif))

Busses are currently to be released for Planet Offer only, as we have stated previously (in forums and in the Simtropolis interview for example), though I know there has been some unfortunate confusion around this issue before release.

To answer some questions above, you won't need to destroy any buildings to place bus stops. The basics are setting up bus terminals which can have a capacity of 3 or 12 bus lines, and then tracing the different bus routes and defining the capacity for each line in order to build an efficient bus network for your citizens to use. This is a costly operation, but it can bring great benefits to a city if managed carefully. We plan on releasing more "teasing" this week about the busses.

I guess I have to disagree with my brethren here. I never expected the solo mode to ever come with free upgrades. Only system fixes. Sim City, I can't imagine, would ever give away something as involved as a mass transit option. Free buildings? Yes. But when they introduced one way streets, for instance, it was packaged in a purchased upgrade (Rush Hour). I can't recall where MC posted explicitly that they would offer a free mass transit upgrade to solo players, in addition to the online players. Maybe there was a message "MC said that x will come out shortly." (substitute anything for "x"). I have heard non-MC people promise the moon and more on these threads.

In the end, MC is looking to make money off Cities XL. They can't be expected to be giving out free upgrades; that is not a sustainable business model. They could not afford the staff to keep the free upgrades coming for paid online users. There is an old saying in America, that I'm sure my friends on the other side of the Atlantic know: "You get what you pay for". The solo players paid for Cities XL as it stood at that point. The Planet Offer players are paying more, but also getting more in terms of small but consistent upgrades. To say that MC is involved in fraud is hyperbolic, at best.

That said, maybe MC can do what Sim Cities did, and have a paid upgrade for those who want the new functions. Sounds like a good capitalistic solution to me.

Ah come on guys! Mass transit = Planet Offer! Stop complaining about it and buy the Planet Offer! Too tight finance? Then go back to Sc4 and let people who enjoy the concept actually enjoying it, or accept the fact that you play solo with a game without all of the options!

It's a company and like other companies, they enjoy having profits at the end of their fiscal year, trying to do that by putting video games on the market. You bought the game? Then you accept the deal that most of the new options weren't to be free of charges if you want them (A little research before buying a game never killed anyone!) MC own you NOTHING so try to live your life!

It's true what you are saying, but why did we had to pay 40/45 euro as a start!??

It still isn't complete, while we paid a lot of it.

@meatpie21

Customer Satisfaction will reflect in their total amount of income. You say it's a bad strategy, well I respond that you should probably wait a little bit to say that : if the game is still profitable to MC in 5 years, well let's just say that you were wrong! As far as I know, no one can tell if this game is a commercial success or a flop by now.

@Stef42

Well, you paid 45E for what you got in the box! The notion of

I think of it as paying for the "main engine" of the game and the real basic stuff. It kind of reminds me of Flight Simulator X (which I use a lot), how the first payment pays for the main engine and basic elements, and then comes all the amazing add ons (they are 3rd party though).

We shoud indeed not beg MC for free mass transit for all.

We could try to convince them to release mass-transit for solo, albeit for a small price

That would be very nice, but then only about 5 euro, for the bus system 2.gif

Or a pack with a couple of mass-transit options...

The train system will take a long time until release I suppose!?

I totally agree with meatpie21. MC must invent something else for attracting players for the PO and give the mass transit for all people who gave their money for the game. Or at least they should release an expansion pack with transportation. I will pay money for mass transit but i want once paid for it to have forever not to rent it for some time.

P.S. Where did his post gone?!?

I'm sorry you can't see beyond your mere interest in playing games online, but me, I don't like to play them because MMOs just are not my cup of tea. Especially city-building games: I play them occasionally when I'm feeling inspired to make something for me alone, without worrying about payments or deadlines.

I can personally afford to pay several months of subscription but I'm just not interested: I don't want to play the PO, even if it was for free. I respect you like and enjoy playing Cities XL online, but please, at least try to understand why people are angry. Or just ignore them if you disagree.

Just play and relax if you must. 2.gif

I personally could care less about the PO except for the fact that it gives me access to the whole game.  However I knew this before I paid.  I don't chat, and mostly I don't trade except with myself.  Mass transit is overrated, people have managed to build some very large cities without it.  I pay because I want to see if MC can pull it off, and make this a next gen game.

This is no different from any other service I pay for, Internet Access, Phone, Cell, Or Cable.  I either keep it or get something else or live without it.  When I find no value as a consumer I vote with my feet.  In the end the thing I  don't understand is that people seem to fell some kind of entitlement,   like they are owed something because they want it.  But  this  is just my opinion and worth what you paid for it.

As a postscript I like moderation.  Perhaps I'll get moderated for saying this, but people seem to mistake the meaning "freedom of speech".  All to often it's used to excuse rude or obnoxious behavior.  In it's truest form speech has never been free. We pay a high price both directly and indirectly for that privilege.

The fanny part about this is the next company that bring out a CB game will properly charge extra for Mss transit and all that as well, MC has done the hard work for every one ells,

it is allot like politics

the government of the day bring in a new tax every one is upset about it then in the next election they get voted out because of it, but the new government dose not get rid of the tax they just forget about it and let it fill up there coffers, then they have the cheek to say how big there surplus is. and how good a job they are doing, then there predeceases  where

Grate points  Morriswalters,

After playing the game for some time now I have realized that I just don’t need mass transit in CXL, shore it may give me something ell to do for couple an hours but that is it. If I really feel the need to play train driver and buss driver I can just load up the old faithfully (SC4).  And I don’t have to pay a thing.    Have not got a subscription to CXL, and I don’t know if I will, like other people MMOs just aren’t for me. But I still enjoy the game, at this moment in time.

As many have previously said, mass transit is an integral part of any community/city. We already know that these additions are in the works and will be released in the near future. Whether there free or not or solo and planet offer the content should obviously be the same.

Seeing as mass transit was added for SimCity 4 rush hour, years after the release of the original game and CitiesXL has only been around for 2 months, it would seem reasonable that mass transit (which is very complex) will take a little bit of time. Let the naysayers say whatever floats their boats. But because this game is French, they get...

For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

I don't  believe that's quite correct, Sim City 4 had buses, trains, and subways as part of the original game, Rush Hour simply added additional transit options.

Its not as if cities on earth never breached a million people before mass public transportation came about... It will be nice to have, knowing that its on its way is enough for me right now, of course im not, you know, twelve... Patience is a virtue. Now for the guys/gals who want to create 30 million sim deep cities I feel for you the most, in the first few months I'm trying to get the hang of making a really nice looking city that functions well, I can keep it nice looking to about 1.5-2 million before things get ugly due to architecture and lack of public xport... Its sort of neat that that games evolution will make us reevaluate how it is that were playing the game in a very fundamental way.

all that being said the game still has that beta feel and getting a video of bus function was a bit of a disapointment for this weeks progress in XL evolution. I tend to wonder if something went embarresingly wrong at MC, a patch to deal with pollution would have been something, but a video? its just sort of flimsey...

Anyways... Im done takiing a break from the memory leak (cough cough) going back in for more :-)

Jamie83, what's with your obsession with the Paris metro? It's just a system as many others... Sure it's very complex (and very filthy currently), but I don't think it's the standart for a good metro system....

And may I remind you that although SC4 really did have mass transport from the beggining (bus, trains and metro), it all was a very simple affair. The busses were (and are) particularly pathethic - a bus stop only, no lines, no terminals.... Oh yeah, and the bus stop took up a whole block! In my experience it was next to impossible to build a functioning bus system without overloading the traffic. This defeated the very purpose of mass transport, i.e. - to offer an alternative to traffic jams.

I seriously hope MC reconsiders giving mass transit only to PO subscribers. I also don't see why me writing a post about it means I am getting all upset and that I should relax more in my life. Mass transit should be given for free to anyone who buys this game as a final thank you for buying the game and a "please consider purchasing the PO" message that follow. Everybody keeps bringing up irrelevant discussions about SC4, Rush Hour, life, stress and even the Planet Offer. These things all fly right by my head because I dodge useless issues like those and concentrate on a more basic way of thinking; "why does this fine city building game not have a mass transit option to better my cities traffic flow" and no matter how many times it is repeated "it will be available to PO subscribers only", it honestly just doesn't cut it.

Monte Cristo stands and fall with the customers.

Furthermore, I don't want to play with other people. I don't care about the charge. I'd even pay it as long as I can play on my own.
