There is a simple reason why north-american (not only the US but Canada and Mexico also) and Europe (many countries there) have most of the BATs on the STEX, because the majority of the BATters are from these countries. Only a small amount of people are from elsewhere on this earth, although China and Brasil (etc) have their own sites. Therefore do not expect much BATting from other civilizations, such as yours. There's room enough for BATters, why not start?

Good luck in finding what you're looking for. ;)

Those common white-faced terraces found in Belgravia and Kensington and other affluent areas please;

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/52/whitetj.jpg/

**I am especially very desperate for these terraces.

This is what my city currently looks like;

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/827/pensemetroareakinderlan.jpg/

The area west and south of the large, central park is where I would like to see those gorgeous terraces.

Also these London buildings;

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/842/londonv.jpg/

Google 3D Warehouse has a lot of great models;

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=london&styp=m&scoring=t&btnG=Search

The_New_Thing has some nice row homes like the ones I am searching for but personally, they are too small and set back too far from the street, not very fond of that suburban look.

https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/13194-thing-row-addon5/

Why would they be beneficial to the game?

These terraces would be beneficial to the game because they are utterly gorgeous and could provide some Central London style homes that both the STEX and the LEX seem to be lacking in providing. They are so common in London yet cannot be found on the many SC4 fan sites that I have visited. I also think that it is unfair that there are so many BATs on the STEX and LEX for great cities like New York, and not a lot for a great city like London, England. ;)

Please help.

I personally think the talent of Mattb325 would you perfect for this challenge :golly: , but whichever BATter decides to take on this challenge, please upload on the LEX.

Thank you.

Tallinn's Town Hall and Tallinn's Apothecary

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f7/Tallinn_%26_Helsinki_046_-_Tallinn_Town_Hall.jpeg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raeapteek

http://www.flickr.com/photos/leungbird/4956043481/

Description

It's the town hall of Tallinn, a very old medieval building. The Apothecary (across the square from the town hall) is one of the oldest continuously running Apothecary's in all of Europe!

Why would they be beneficial to the game?

I have not found any Estonia related BATs (except the estonia police cars...) anywhere. But Tallinn is an awesome city with very old and very nice looking buildings! and the city wall too.

Borgund (norway) stave church

400px-Borgundstavechurch.JPG

Description

A very old church (12th century) in Norway, made out of wood. It's really gorgeous

Why would it be beneficial to the game

It's a unique structure, good looking, very old and it would fit perfect in any rural, nature and mountainy city. Why isn't one of Norway's most iconic structures in a BAT for SimCity? (while norway's road signs are for example) just boggles my mind :-D

Also, all the other norwegian stave churches (all of them are unique) are really pretty.

Palace Albanija

dsc_7396.jpg

Description:

13 floors

53 m high

Palace Albanija (Serbian: Палата »Албанија«, Palata »Albanija«) is a highrise building in Belgrade, Serbia. It is the first skyscraper built in Southeast Europe.

It is located at the north-west end of Terazije square. It was finished in 1940. It was designed by Miladin Prljević and Đorđe Lazarević, based on the 1938 project by Branko Bon and Milan Grakalić. It was the first highrise building in Belgrade and for a long time the highest one, domineering the architecture of Belgrade of the time. The origin of its name is traced back to the period before it was built, since a kafana named Albanija previously occupied the same spot.

On October 20, 1944, red flag placed on Palace Albanija declared that Belgrade was liberated from the Nazis by the Red Army and Yugoslav Partisan forces. To this day it is the highest reference point between Terazije and Slavija.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palace_Albanija

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1482247

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

Besides its historical impotance(tallest skyscraper in SE Europe at the time of its construction),this building would fith any European style city with its modernist look.

I didnt find a reponse thread to this one so might as well put it here. Someone requested some icelandic Turf Houses a few pages back, just wanted to let em know of some progress made towards that. They are kinda cool. Im not finished with them yet,and they wont look just like this once I lot them up properly. They are not on the Lots I envision to be yet and theres no props yet,am still working on the grass and stuff. I might make a small set of them.

Just a quick preview

All going well they might turn out like quaint little rural setting lots....there are only some test pics. I want to spend some more time on them and get them looking better.

There are a few other things in here (the request thread) I want to try also, but I will get to them when I do.

I had an idea:

Ploppable "events," made with static props, made as eye candy for pictures.

We could start with modular parades, which would basically be a series of transit-enabled lots that could be plopped over roads and avenues. Pretty self-explanatory: Sections of road with traffic barricades and police escorts, with floats on the street and cordoned-off sections for parade viewers on the sidewalk.

Ploppable army formations: I'm imagining this would be useful to people who do "war CJs." A series of TE-ed avenue lots that would be like the normal parade, except with the floats and drum majors replaced with tanks, artillery launchers, and troops marching in columns.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

All of these ideas idea are pretty much aimed at CJ creators who want to have "events" take place in their cities to make them look more alive and interesting.

I also had some ideas for ploppable street festivals, riots, movie shoots, and police raids, but one request per post is enough.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: The design is beautiful and would look nice in any city. If possible i would like it to contribute to the city so making it have jobs would be great

BRISTOL - Bristol Old Vic Theatre

Dear all European BATters:

BRISTOLOldVicTheatre.jpg

Description:

The Theatre Royal, the oldest continually-operating theatre in England, was built during 1764–66 on King Street in Bristol. The Coopers' Hall, built 1743-44, was incorporated as the theatre's foyer during 1970–72. Together, they are designated a Grade I listed building by English Heritage. It is a sandstone beige coloured building with an imposing symmetrical frontage sporting columns on the facade.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

There aren't many theatres on SC4 and I'm of the opinion there should be more. This would ideally be a functional theatre with jobs as well. Personally, I'm trying to recreate Bristol but there aren't many Bristol buildings around at all but it would fit in well in most if not all European-style cities.

BRISTOL - Queen Square Buildings

Dear all European BATters:

BRISTOL6KingStreet.jpg

6 King Street / Queen Square Corner

BRISTOL24QueenSquare.jpg

24 Queen Square

BRISTOL29QueenSquare.jpg

29 Queen Square

BRISTOLQueenSquareHouse.jpg

Queen Square House

Description:

Queen Square is the biggest square in the centre of Bristol. The buildings surrounding the square are all of Geogrian style bar Queen Square house which is arguably Victorian or Edwardian. Most of the buildings have 3 storeys with dormas in the roof but these can also be made with 4 storeys for extra height.

6 King Street - residential or commercial with jobs

24 Queen Square - residential or commercial with jobs

29 Queen Square - residential or commercial with jobs

Queen Square House - commercial with jobs or education

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

As I've emphasised in previous requests, there is a severe shortage of British buildings on the STEX. These would look great in game and can be used for anyone (such as myself) creating British or European cities. It is very difficult to make realistic British neighbourhoods with European townhouses.

BRISTOL - Llandoger Trow

Dear all European BATters:

BRISTOLLlandogerTrow.jpg

Description:

The Llandoger Trow is a historic pub in Bristol. Dating from 1664, it is in King Street, between Welsh Back and Queen Charlotte Street, near the old city centre docks. A trow was a flat-bottomed barge, and Llandogo is a village 20 miles (32 km) north-west of Bristol, across the Severn Estuary and upstream on the River Wye in South Wales, where trows were once built. Trows historically sailed to trade in Bristol.

The pub was partially destroyed by a bomb in World War II, but three of the original five projecting gables remain. It is a grade II* listed building.

More Information

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

As I've emphasised in previous requests, there is a severe shortage of British buildings on the STEX. The Llandoger Trow would make an excellent addition to an old-style city, be it British or European.

Here are some of my requests.

Columbia Center (accurate model)

400px-Columbia_center_from_smith_tower.jpg

Description

The tallest building in Seattle, Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It stands at 932 feet (967 to the top of the antenna spire) and has 76 floors.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

While there is already a Maxis version of this building, the Maxis version is way off-scale (much thinner and much shorter) than reality. The Maxis version looks more like a 45 story, 500 foot building as opposed to a 967 foot tower with 76 floors. It's sideways dimensions are also way off. With some of the talent around here on the STEX, I'm really hoping someone can bring us an accurately-scaled, and higher quality version of this iconic structure. Anyone wanting to re-create Seattle in Sim City 4 needs to have this building.

Seattle Municipal Tower

home2.gif

Description

Seattle Municipal Tower is a 62-story building and is the fourth tallest high-rise in Seattle. It stands next to the Columbia Center.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

This building is extremely aesthetically pleasing. Additionally, this is a must-have for anyone trying to re-create Seattle in Sim City 4.

Additional photos:

Uwajimaya Village

Uwajimaya-Village-in-Seattles-International-District.jpg

Description

One of the most popular Japanese/Asian supermarkets on the west coast of the United States, Uwajimaya Village is located in Seattle's International District. Uwajimaya Village includes a food court, bank, restaurant, optician, beauty salon, cellular wireless store, and cosmetic shop. The Kinokuniya Bookstore also relocated to a new location at the corner of 5th Avenue S. and S. Weller Street. Above the first floor of retail shops and underground parking garage is the 176-unit Uwajimaya Village Apartments.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

Great mixed-use residential/commercial layout. A landmark in Seattle, and finally, our Sims can have a place to buy Asian groceries and load-up on Sushi, Noodles, Teriyaki Sauce and all the other essentials! Would be great for any "International District"/"Chinatown/Japantown" neighborhoods.

Why I think it would be beneficial to the game:

There are no other buildings like this as far as I know. It would also play a crucial role

in NY-recreations or cities that request a similiar style. If you could make this, then let Simtropolis bless you!29.gif ( Oh, and, the English Houses of Parliament is much needed in my opinion too!)

Wondering if someone can make some Diagonal Rail Stations.

Currently these are the only ones that I could find that are available

https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/16793-marrast-diagonal-rail-stations/

While these Stations will work well in my urban areas I was looking for something that would be a little more appropriate for rural towns.

I also wanted some diagonal freight stations too.

Hello Mike - many Batters have made British buildings, but obviously with Ill Tonkso being almost inactive, there are now fewer choices.

But have you checked the LEX lately? There is at least one building I know of that looks very similar to your Queen Square requests and has been available for over a year

HollandParkHouse_sn.jpg

There are quite a number of other British buildings on the LEX as well

Your Queen Square House image looks nice, I may give this a go ;) ...

Thanks for getting back so soon mattb325. I haven't managed to get on to the LEX recently, only the STEX. I will be sure to have a look. I will also say now that your BATs are absolutely fantastic, especially most recently the London package. I was in Grosvenor Square not too long ago and your rendition is brilliant. Glad you like Queen Square House, it's a little gem and would look great in game. If only I knew how to BAT.

Cheers. :)

The Pantheon of Rome

aerialpantheon.jpg

The Pantheon of Rome

Description:

The building is circular with a portico of large granite Corinthian columns (eight in the first rank and two groups of four behind) under a pediment. A rectangular vestibule links the porch to the rotunda, which is under a coffered, concrete dome, with a central opening (oculus) to the sky. Almost two thousand years after it was built, the Pantheon's dome is still the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome.[3] The height to the oculus and the diameter of the interior circle are the same, 43.3 metres (142 ft).[4]

It is one of the best preserved of all Roman buildings. It has been in continuous use throughout its history, and since the 7th century, the Pantheon has been used as a Roman Catholic church dedicated to "St. Mary and the Martyrs" but informally known as "Santa Maria della Rotonda."[5] The square in front of the Pantheon is called Piazza della Rotonda.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community

The Pantheon of Rome is one of the most known buildings of Rome. In my opinion, we haven't got hardly any bulidings about the most historical and beautiful city of the world. With this building we could bring some history to our city. The central opening of it is unique, so this is a obligatory landmark for sim city!

Thanks

The Main Tower, Frankfurt

1090687651_g1.2.1.2.MainTower.jpg

Description:

The Main Tower is a skyscraper in Frankfurt, Germany. It has a roof height of 656 foot (200 meters), and with its antenna spire included, it stands a total of 787 ft (240 metres) high. The building is named after the nearby river Main. It features five underground floors, as well as two public viewing platforms. The tower is the only skyscraper in Frankfurt with a public viewing observatory. It is currently the 4th tallest building in Frankfurt as well as Germany. The tower's design features what appears to be two connected towers. The smaller of the two is of a cuboid shape and a design common to 1970s architecture. The second and taller of the two towers is a circular tower with an entire blue glass exterior which features the transmission tower on top.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or communiy

The Main Tower is a good attribute for the European buliding style. It is an attractive building and one of the few skyscrapers in Germany and Europe in general. as you can see in the pic below it fits to other buildings of sim city that are already available (you can see three of them on the pic)

Strasbourg Cathedral

614px-notre_dame_de_strasbourg_2.jpg

Description:

Strasbourg Cathedral or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg (French: Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-Strasbourg, German: Liebfrauenmünster zu Straßburg) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Strasbourg, France. Although considerable parts of it are still in Romanesque architecture, it is widely considered to be among the finest examples of high, or late, Gothic architecture. Erwin von Steinbach is credited for major contributions from 1277 to his death in 1318.

At 142 metres (466 feet), it was the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874, when it was surpassed by St. Nikolai's Church, Hamburg. Today it is the sixth-tallest church in the world.

  • Total length: 112 m (367 ft)
  • Total inside length: 103 m (338 ft)
  • Exterior height of central nave (roof): 40 m (130 ft)
  • Inside height of central nave: 32 m (105 ft)
  • Inside height of lateral naves: 19 m (62 ft)
  • Inside height of narthex: 42 m (138 ft)
  • Width between pillars of central nave: 16 m (52 ft)
  • Height of crossing dome: 58 m (190 ft)
  • Height of platform: 66 m (217 ft)
  • Height of spire: 142 m (466 ft)
  • Exterior width of west façade: 51.5 m (169 ft)
  • Diameter of west façade rose window: 13.6 m (45 ft)

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community

This cathedral is very special because they forgot to build the second bell tower. It was the heighest building for a long time and has got the biggest rose window of the world. A very beautiful landmark.

Thank You for the Continued Support!

Simtropolis depends on donations to fund site maintenance costs.
Without your support, we just would not be in our 24th year online!  You really help make this a great community. *:thumb:

But we still need your support to stay online. If you're able to, please consider a donation to help us stay up and running. This helps sustain a platform where we can share our community creations for years to come.

Make a Donation, Get a Gift!

STEX Collections

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
